  1. I am not a casual fan who only watches the Bills. I watch a lot of football and he is plain and simply a bad CB who would be a rotational CB/ depth CB on the majority of rosters. He definitely wouldn't be #2 on the depth chart that is for sure.
  2. I would surmise McKelvin wouldn't be getting regular reps on the defensive side of the ball on most teams.
  3. He has to protect his players. I don't blame him for that way of thinking.
  4. We had one CB that was playing exceptionally well prior to this game and yes Mckelvin and Gilmore are starting...
  5. It certainly isn't a small sample size in that evaluation with McKelvins deficiencies. With Gilmore lets just hope he can stay healthy.
  6. I don't think Joe D'Allasandris gets enough credit and you are seeing it again in San Diego. He is IMO the best o-line coach in the league.
  7. My concerns with McKelvin and Gilmore are not just because of the San Diego performance. The thing about Gilmore for 2014 is that he didn't play well in training camp, preseason and now it has carried over into the regular season.
  8. You mentioned his physical abilities, but the mental aspect in reading defenses was awful as well. He missed A LOT of reads to WR's that were wide open all game. Also his situational awareness in the endzone with the safety was alarming
  9. If Chip Kelly is a sham coach. A coach who took his team to the playoffs in his first year, 3-0 in year two what does that make Doug Marrone aka St. Doug?
  10. Besides Graham, McKelvin and Gilmore have been exposed in every game so far. It's just not the SD game.
  11. Could poor technique be a reason why he is always banged up? How do you miss a tackle, grab a face mask and get injured all in the same play?
  12. Putting up numbers? 50, 60 yards. Ok. BTW the DB's did not play well against the Bears with the exception of Corey Graham who was outstanding.
  13. I don't know what that excuse is either but I would describe his play in the open field as very soft against the run and pass. What I saw in coverage today was just merely average, replacement level type play. Each year in the league he has been horrible early on in the season. So who knows.
  14. Hacketts play calling wasn't the greatest today however it falls mostly on EJ. EJ left wide open reads on the field all day. There were lots of plays to be made in the passing game in which EJ failed to read and/or execute properly.
  15. EJ missed wide open reads to WR's all day. It was a bad performance from him today.
  16. The rules had no bearing on the CB play today.
  17. Running backs are one of the least important positions on the field why the QB is without a shadow of a doubt the most important position on the field.,
  18. Both high 1st round picks too.
  19. McKelvin has been terrible pretty much his entire career and Gilmore has been simply average and starting off the 2014 year in an atrocious fashion. These guys need to pick up their game big time.
  20. With the exception of Corey Graham who has been terrific, we do not have a viable CB opposite of him. McKelvin is getting torched again for big plays, Gilmore is a holding machine, average in coverage and atrocious in the open field. I like Robey, great tackler/playmaker but overall his size is a concern. Brooks is simply depth. Was Graham hurt today? Didn't see him much out there.
  21. There is no regression. He always has been a bad CB. Last year it was the pressure scheme that was helping the DB's A LOT.
  22. The D-Line didn't play well because they needed to generate pressure with that 4 and they didn't, but yes it was partly scheme. Fitting it up with 4 was a disaster in the making when you look at San Diegos offensive scheme/philosophy with getting the ball out quickly. Rivers is the best in the league at that. Joe D's o-line outplayed us all day and our secondary of Gilmore and McKelvin were atrocious.
  23. For sure. It was just amplified more than usual because Rivers is the best QB in the NFL right now. Definitely. But the story for me going into this game was the defense vs Rivers and their quick passing attack.
  24. Game Balls: Fred Jackson Colton Schmidt (still pinning those punts inside the 20) Dan Carpenter (tough kick in that wind today) Danny Crossman (special teams played well again today) Sweaty Jockstraps: EJ Manuel Stephon Gilmore A mix between the entire D-Line play and scheme.
