  1. Me too... the Bills' division is perhaps their biggest problem.
  2. I agree with your main point -- we could be looking at a 3- or 4-win season -- but I also thought this was interesting: http://www.marasoft.com/nfl-margin-victory.html Over the last 20 years, almost half of all NFL games (46%) were decided by 7 or fewer points (which is one reason why football is king). It is common for teams to be "in" games until the final gun... "any given Sunday" and all that. This data might deflate some of the chatter on the relative value of "playing teams close." Unfortunately, playing teams close will tend to prolong the careers of subpar coaches.
  3. (1) Excellent pic you got there (2) YES dude. Shanahan is the "offensive genius" who rode Elway's arm and Alex Gibbs' illegal cut-blocking method to a couple Super Bowls. Overpriced and overrated... I wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot clown pole.
  4. Similar behavior worked out very very badly for Steve Spurrier in Washington, with his array of former Gators (e.g. Danny Wuerffel). Thankfully Chan has been in the NFL before.
  5. Right - he would have to be truly expendable, which he isn't yet. Worst case, he's a clear-passing-down pass rusher, and pray they don't run a draw play his way.
  6. Good summary - too early to call him a bust, but the initial signs are not encouraging. There seems to be a knucklehead factor with him. Here's hoping he grows up quickly. I hope we see him dump backs behind the line of scrimmage on draw plays, as opposed to racing up field and out of the play altogether.
  7. Thank you homeboy. Well said! We need the regular season before people go crazy. This is the anonymous internet version of training camp fights that pop up because people get tired of hitting their own teammates.
  8. and by that I mean: "player's coach" is often synonymous with "goes easy on the players," like one Richard Jauron. Here's hoping Chan never gets that label.
  9. That is true. I just hope I never hear anyone call him a "players' coach".
  10. My brother thinks the Bills will score 44 pts tonight. I'm currently trying to reach his doctor.
  11. I hope you're right and will accept it gladly. I suppose the one thing I didn't consider is the unpredictable handful of teams that totally stink up the joint, underperforming expectations. That's probably good for a couple more wins.
  12. Forgive my brief rant: Peter King is a fatuous blowhard who is obsessed with himself. He fancies himself as a connoisseur of many things, including coffee and football. He really is terrible, given to making obvious statements and coloring them as insight, and making it look like he has really close personal relationships with most NFL players. Accuracy is of course an indispensable characteristic of a successful quarterback, as is "pocket-sense" - feeling & reacting to pressure, avoiding contact, etc. Now then... Completion percentage can be a deceiving metric, stat-wise, especially in west coast offenses. I think downfield accuracy -- completions of 15-20 yards or more -- is a better measure than just straight completion percentage, when it comes to being considered an accurate QB.
  13. I wish it weren't the case, because we're moving dangerously close to the Hank Bullough years... 4-12. This year's depression barometer: the outcome of Week 10.
  14. The rest of the division keeps improving, and we don't seem to be... which helps folks lose patience, and makes folks get chippy on forums. 0-6 in the AFC East is probably an even-money bet (maybe we'll get the Fish once?), and then add in the rest of the schedule, and it is even more bleak. I think we Bills fans are justified in venting spleens at Russ Brandon and Ralph Wilson. Rooting your guts out for a team is an emotional thing... when winning or losing.
