GDT: Bills vs. Dolphins 1st Half Thread
Wayne Cubed replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, pathetic. -
What's up with the exclamation points?

I thought the first 20-25 mins were a little slow and the movie is not without criticism but for me specifically, I like the little things that filled in the holes between the movies. As an example, the Kyber Crystals. Not once have they been mentioned in any Star Wars film but it was long assumed thats where the Death Star got it's power from. Also, Star Wars fans are finally introduced to the Guardian of the Whills, something George Lucas has long talked about. It also enhances A New Hope, you now have faces of characters who gave their lives to get these plans. Also, in A New Hope, the first scene of the Empire in the "war room", there is an empty seat. We now know why there is an empty seat, it's for Orson Krennic. There's more little touches but those are just a few that did it for me.

Just finished seeing it and really enjoyed it. Lots of good little nods to the originals and they've added a good amount of things that can now be considered Star Wars cannon. The cinematography mixed with CGI was amazing. I love how these knew films really give you idea of scale.

Jerry... Jerry... calling Jerry Hughes.

Now picture this, the Bills beat the 2 teams they should have beat in the Jets and Dolphins and are sitting at 9-5, with the Jets and Dolphins to finish the season.
-
There's a couple ways really. If the Texans beat the Bengals then the Titans have to lose to the Jags.

Buffalo News and their agenda...

I don't have any problem with that argument and I didn't think you were standing up for him. I guess where I am at is, if Rex coaches better or puts in a better game plan, the Bills have 10 wins, maybe 11 at seasons end. The Bills beat the teams they should have beat, except the Jets and Miami. They lost to the teams they probably should have lost to.They could have possibly taken a game from a team they shouldn't have beat, Ravens, Seahawks, Raiders or Steelers. I think coaching gets you those wins. Now, if going 10-6 and squeeking into the playoffs isn't the ultimate goal, which is shouldn't be, then the rest falls on not having a QB. Whaleys department. With a QB, I believe the Bills could have easily beaten the Steelers, Raiders and Ravens. So that puts you at challenging for the division. I think overall Whaley has done an ok job, but for most GMs and the QB position, it's a guessing game. The next guy will be guessing too. It comes down to, do you want Whaley guessing or someone else? -
Doug Whaley - The Tim Graham Feature Story
Wayne Cubed replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly I don't mind the article, but Graham is basically saying 6 > 2 without giving any knowledge of where these guys come from. Even just saying, "6 personnel guys from winning teams..". If you are trying to write a persuasive piece and you can't include those details because it contrary to what your point is, don't put them in. The point can't be, well 6 guys said it's the wrong way and that's greater number than 2. -
So this gets the Bills in 100%: Week 16: Bills over Dolphins Steelers over Ravens Raiders over Colts Pats** over Jest Bengals over Texans Week 17: Bills over Jest Bengals over Ravens Patriots over Dolphins Raiders over Broncos Titans over Texans I think the Bengals winning out is the unlikely part

I definitely agree. I just thought it would have made Grahams point more convincing if he could have given some indication of where these guys came from. -

Did you listen to Rex's presser on the Monday after? He basically admitted that the game plan was ****. He said something like "we tried to take away their pass game..." and that he didn't think they would be able to run on the Bills. Like he was amazed that it happened. I mean the guy just doesn't know how to game plan week in and week out. Occasionally he puts a good one together but they are few and far between. -

Yea that too. Or if the defense doesn't give up that long TD. To me, it's coaching. It's been really bad game plans and coaching this year. -

Those are the games I looks back on. The Jets game or the Miami game. If the defense shows up for either of those, or both, this season is a playoff season. -

So it's vacuous to wonder, gee where do these 8 personnel guys come from and what qualifies them? I forgot I'm just suppose to accept that these 8 guys know more than Whaley. And it's not character assassination if Kermit the Frog, who helped select Johnny Manziel, weighs in on how his team scouts under classmen. It's questioning the source and why I as the reader should believe this guy saying this has anymore knowledge than the guy he's criticizing. So you've come back with nothing to add, awesome. EDIT: and what's so embarrassing? It's a discussion. Graham is writing a persuasive piece and wants to drive home that Whaley is a !@#$ up. But he can't say where these 8 guys come from? Losing program? Winning programs? Anything. It sure would drive his point home more, no? -

Total anonymity... "said another NFC personnel executive." Yea ok. Why didn't he clarify whether these guys came from winning or losing NFL teams? -

I'm not a journalist so I can't really say but in terms of the information provided and the number of people in the personnel departments of each team, I don't think a source would think that. Hell, he doesn't even quatify if the teams are winning teams or losing teams or top teams. He just says 8 personnel guys, and we tithe reader are just suppose to assume they are from winning programs. Let me ask this, if the 2 teams that do it the way Whaley supposedly does it, which is not true to begin with, are the Pats and the Steelers. And the 6 teams that do it the other way are the Chargers, Browns, Bears, Jets, 49ers and Jaguars, does Grahams point hold as much weight? That Whaley is doing it wrong? -

I got that and yet in the same article he said "NFC personnel executive" as one of his unnamed sources. He didn't say NFL, he said NFC. He gave a clue to who his source was. Also, my other point, teams have 100+ people in their personnel departments. Saying a Patriots personnel guy said X, is not really giving away much. Again, IMO Graham doesn't say who the teams are because it doesn't merry up with the point he's attempting to make. -

Um, no I got your point. I don't agree with it in this instance. Graham could have very well given which teams these guys worked for. I know you think reporters who name their sources won't last long. By saying which team they work for, isn't naming them. Hence why I said that there are a lot of personnel guys on each team. He even quoted one of the sources as an "NFC personnel executive". My point is, he could have named which teams these guys work for. The reason he didn't? Who knows, but IMO it's because the 2 personnel guys who said they don't watch film of under classmen, like what Graham thinks the Bills do, come from winning organizations. And if he lists those teams it defeats the point of his slanted take on Whaley. -

Oh yea? Do tell. I mean he called one of his "sources" an NFC executive. Oh my god. There are only a few of those. He basically outed who it was. Hilarious. -

Wayne Cubed replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haha, really? So wait, when he says he talks to a personnel guy that works for the Bills, that's ok... but mentioning which teams these other guys work for is off limits. Cmon, tell me you don't believe what you actually wrote. There are hundreds of guys that work in the personnel department of evey team, the Bills have around 130. You honestly think if Tim Graham mentions which team these guys work for, that really outs them? -
Watch, Elway will find a QB
Wayne Cubed replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's my point though. He just won a Super Bowl, he was given leeway. But to act like that plan at QB was brilliant, is a little off, IMO. The Broncos had been grooming Osweiler for 4 seasons and knew he wasn't the air apparent and their solution was to let him walk, put 22nd rated QB, who was the last drafted QB in 2015, in as a starter. Oh and move up in the draft, giving up a 3rd round pick, to select a QB they view as a project. Whaley would have been slaughtered around here if that was his plan this year. -

Wayne Cubed replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean let a QB on the roster walk, put a QB into the starting lineup that hadn't played a snap in the NFL and use a first round draft pick on a QB they don't plan to start and is a project? If Whaley did any of the above, he would have been crucified. -

Funny how he doesn't state which teams these guys work for. Why is that? Could it be because the 2 that said they wait until they declare to "watch tape" are from winning organizations and don't fit his narrative? There's no reason not to list which team these personnel guys are from. He was comparing teams earlier in the article. And it's been pointed out in this thread, that Whaley does in fact send scouts to junior players games. So his whole point, unless it's just about watching tape, is incorrect. Whaley does scout underclassman.
