  1. Ah, predraft talk, where every coach and GMs words should be taken as gospel, obviously.
  2. Who are these players and how much cap room will they take up?
  3. They have plenty of cap room after 2017 because certain players aren't signed yet. The cap numbers as of right now, according to OTC, look good because Watkins hasn't had his option picked up, which is roughly $8M at the moment but could go up after FA. It also looks good because it only includes 13 starters who are under contract. This also doesn't take into effect that the Bills need to sign players THIS offseason, which will effect the 2018 cap.
  4. Exactly, and use that money to rebuild the team. That way a rookie QB is coming into a nice situation.
  5. That's not the point. Tyrod requires a good/very good team around him to succeed. He hasn't shown he can carry the team. By picking up his option, the Bills are limiting what they can do, financially, to maintain the defense and offense, which Tyrod needs to win games. As it stands the Bills next season will need a #2 WR, #3 WR, FB, RT, DE, LBx2, and probably a safety or 2. All of that with $18m in cap space and 6 draft picks, which will take up $5m in cap space themselves. So with that in mind can the Bills realistically compete next year picking up Tyrods contract as it is? Or could they get the same level of QB play, save some money, and build a good team for a rookie QB to come into? Scott, if Tyrod is taking up a lot of cap space and you have a rookie QB playing well, you are missing out on something. The rookie QB contract would be cheap at that point, the Bills could be building a team around the rookie QB while he is still on the cheap.
  6. And the two teams in the Super Bowls records where? What about 2015? What about 2014? What about 2013?
  7. Would I be happy, of course, I never said otherwise. I said the goal should be to win championships. For some, because of the drought, the goal seems to make the playoffs. We just need a QB that can help the team to the playoffs. I want a QB that LEADS the team to the playoffs. Can a team do this while having a QB who is middle of the road? Of course they can. The problem with this becomes: 1. Limited window. 2. Need to have components around the QB (defense, ST, etc.) The problem with TT is his contract as it currently stands. Can the Bills with a limited cap and the draft, retool the team, so the Bills can make the playoffs next year? I'm hesitant to say that's possible. There are just too many needs and the window is shrinking. The Bills need an another influx of talent. The talent was there in 2014-15 and probably 16 for a QB to be middle of the road and the Bills to make the playoffs. Unfortunately the new owners made a coaching mistake.
  8. Quarterbacks aren't hard to find. Great QBs are hard to find. For some(it should be for everyone), the goal isn't to just win 10-11 games and sneak into the playoffs. It's to win championships. The question then becomes, can the Bills win a championship or championships with TT at QB?
  9. Missed this, I'll have to get the fryer going!
  10. Fair question. The one you usually use as collateral for a bet.
  11. Would you run over your own daughter?
  12. Welcome. We accept running-over-your-own-daughter as forms of payments for any bets made.
  13. As Bandito pointed out, free agency as wel. It doesn't have to all come from the draft. No doubt, certain fans don't understand good CB play. They think a great CB never allows a completion.
  14. Personally, I won't B word. Gilmore is a top 10 corner but the situation the Bills are in, it's hard to pay him what he deserves to get paid. You can only make so many players on a team one of the highest at their position. Silver-lining, this draft is looking pretty good at the CB position.
  15. Yup. The injury is temporary, if he ends up being as good as it seems for 5 years, no one will care.
  16. I'm watching the press conferences now. Obviously, I'm disappointed I missed Saint Dougs.
  17. Man, Bill's publicist sure knows how to keep him relevant. He is hot take after hot take lately.
  18. I see that now.
  19. As someone who used to sell TVs and works in video, I'm confused. There are literally only so many pixels on a 1080p TV, 1920x1080 to be exact. 4K is shot at 4096x226 pixels. How is this cable able to add more pixels to a TV screen that only has a specific amount of pixels?
  20. Yup, I said the same thing earlier in this thread. Whaley has to own what he said during the PC but Berchtold should be held responsible for the planning and execution of the PR after Rex's firing. Sending out Lynn first then waiting a week later to send out Whaley. It was awful and painted the organization as dysfunctional.
  21. No, certainly not. It would most likely have been Berchtolds decision to put Lynn out there before anyone else and then Whaley nearly a week after firing Rex instead of "getting out in front" of the firing. It then would have most likely been Berchtold who got Pegula to give an interview to clear everything up. Whaley giving crap answers is on Whaley. The order of events from a communications standpoint is on Berchtold. It could have been handled much better.
  22. I think that's the problem, your use of the word mostly. Tyrod is part of the reason the Bills were around .500. And those reasons don't always show up on the stat sheets. Missed throws and missed reads. Bailing on clean pockets. Slow pass release. No two-minute offense. It's not a crusade to question Tyrods effectiveness. I'm still 50/50 on him. I was unbelievably frustrated with him at times and he feels a lot like Fitz. Exciting at times, can do some things but will never carry a team. And McDermott, having talked to Tyrod and being a reported film junkie, should have answers to the why and what happened in those plays. Hopefully this decision to either extend Tyrod or not, is an educated one.
