  1. I never claimed to be. The Rams also traded up to team that already had a QB they drafted, just a year prior. Different situations. The Jets, as I'm sure you are aware, are gunning for the 1st overall pick. They went about tanking by unloading veteran players and trying to retain young talent. Beane and McD have already gone on record in that they won't build through FA, they want to build through the draft, "Thats what good teams do." So cross Garropolo and Cousins off the list. The QB will come through the draft. The Bills are half in, half out right now. They won't commit to tanking.
  2. To get where? Truth is you have no idea what the order of the draft is going to be or which teams are going to need what. If the Jets, 49ers and Browns are sitting 1,2, 3 do you think there is any chance they trade with the Bills? What about if the Jags decide to move on from Bortles? The Bills may have the "ammunition" but they also need a trade partner. The only way to assure that they can choose whatever QB they want, is to go full tank. Which they haven't decided to do.
  3. Well according to Beane he hadn't even talked to Sammy about being here, so we will never know what could or could not have been worked out.
  4. I know a lot of people around here seem to think their is some plan in place for the future. Unfortunately I don't see it. -Beane admitted in his PC he wasn't shopping anyone, that it was LA that really wanted Watkins. So if he wasn't shopping Watkins, he was initially in the future plans of the Bills. Why did a 2nd round pick suddenly change his mind? - If you are attempting to rebuild through the draft, why not tank? What's the point in remaining mediocre? Unload Richie and Kyle. Don't resign Tyrod. Go for that top 5 pick instead of finishing out of the top 10 and using draft collateral to move up. You could get 2 guys in the first and if one of them is a QB who doesn't work out you won't have wasted all these picks on moving up for 1 guy. Plus you'll have more of your "types" of guys on the team. - I'm not sure Watkins or Darbys replacement would ever come via FA with this regime. Matthews and Gaines are a 1 year rental at this point and then the Bills will be looking for a starting CB and a #1 WR. So drafting.
  5. Selling out the future? Did I miss something?? Did the Rams give up a 1st in 2018 and a future 1st in 2019? They gave up a 2nd round pick for a starting WR with elite talent. The chances of that second round pick turning into Watkins are even slimmer than your thoughts on Goffs potential. Plan ahead and recoup? So don't sign any of the players you drafted? You know what else Bills fans have been asking for for years? Talented players and retaining said talented players.
  6. What does what I said have to do with the Sammy trade and seeing it in black and white? Im sorry I don't follow that analysis at all. And I don't like the Sammy trade because you don't dump young players in a rebuild, IMO you dump vet players who won't be around when the team actually does turn around. I'm not sure if you are aware, but a lot of players have a very small probability of succeeding. You've seen 7 games of Goff and made your decision. The Rams haven't and probably won't make their decision on Goff in the next 2 seasons so losing a 2nd next year for a player that will help Goff isn't a massive deal. They want to surround there player they invested in with talent. Like the Raiders did, like the Bucs did, like the Titans have done, like the Eagles have. You know teams do attempt help their young QBs? And who says they aren't sure about Goff? He's played 7 games. You aren't sure about Goff, that's your opinion. You have no idea what the current FO of the Rams think of Goff. You know what else isn't smart? Making decisions on NFL players 7 games into their career.
  7. They might, I'm not so sure.
  8. I don't even think they'll spend the money on Matthews, with the whole "good teams build through the draft" mantra. They've said they won't be spenders in FA normally. Well good teams also resign their home grown talent that they spent draft picks on. The new Bills FO will attempt to replace Watkins through the draft.
  9. Yea, I mean you should obviously give up on a QB you drafted 1st overall after 7 starts.
  10. Yea I think some fans hear $13m a year average for a WR and think that's a lot of cap space, forgetting that the salary cap now rises. This isn't years past where you only had $120m to spend on the whole team.
  11. Shady has said something to Sammy. Haven't seen anyone else but I'm not really looking.
  12. I swear fans tell themselves that Sammy was gone after this season so the move doesn't seem as bad. It's what fans do every time a talented player leaves Buffalo. "Well he was gone after the season, so at least they got something for him". The number of times I've heard that from Bills fans is crazy. It was the same thing with Peters. These guys have proved nothing yet. I'm sorry but I'm not going to give them the benefit of the doubt, they have no track record and haven't earned it. They have a plan? Is that why Beane said they weren't actively shopping Watkins or Darby? That sounds like they don't have a plan, especially with the timing. Also, let's say he did leave after this year and their plan is to build through the draft and not spend in FA, they would have got a 3rd round comp pick.
  13. Not sure it'll be this season as fans will just look forward to the draft. But give it a few years and they'll be wanting a #1 receiver. I mean Moulds was the last #1 receiver the Bills really had. The part that annoys me is yea they got draft picks, where do you think Watkins replacement will come from? The Bills aren't going to spend in FA, McD and Beane have already said as much. I just don't believe in this philosophy of getting rid of young talent. If you wanna tank, fine, get rid of veteran talent like the Jets are doing. Get rid of Kyle, Eric Wood, don't restructure Tyrod... don't sign Boldin/Alexander. Go for the top 3 pick. This getting rid of 2 youngs guys and remaining mildly competitive is going to result in a pick outside the top 10. And yea they may be able to move up, but if the Jets are siting there at 1, the 49ers at 2 and the Jaguars at 3, the chances of moving into those spots for a QB are slim, especially if said QB is a slam dunk. So now the Bills are settling for possibly lesser QB and going half in on a tank.
  14. And gee all the young QBs in the NFL seem to be being surrounded by a lot of talent. Mariota, Winston, Goff and Wentz, all those teams are heavily surrounding there high drafted QBs with offensive talent.
  15. Yea I've thought the same. Some have argued that teams wanted to see him play... which I could get but I still think they could have had more teams bidding if they started shopping him earlier.
  16. I mean season tickets have already been renewed and single game tickets sold... they've made these moves after ticket sales. And they definitely were marketing Sammy, heavily.
  17. @adamschefter Rams GM Les Snead said LA is interested in signing WR Sammy Watkins to a long-term contract, though the two sides are yet to discuss a deal.
  18. @adamschefter Rams GM Les Snead said LA is interested in signing WR Sammy Watkins to a long-term contract, though the two sides are yet to discuss a deal. Looks like they see him as more then a rental.
  19. So franchise tag him. What is so wrong with keeping good young players? They now have to find another #1 receiver.
  20. Who knows. Why did he say that signing Anquan Boldin was a sign they aren't throwing in the towel for the season? I mean trading away your number 1 receiver seems like you are to me.
  21. Huh? But you just said you believed what he said about "signability", so that was true but his conversation with Watkins wasn't. I'm glad you can tell when Beane is lying or not.
  22. He actually said he hadn't had a conversation with him about his future in Buffalo and if he wanted to be here. So following what you think happened, Beane made the decision that he didn't want to be here without actually asking the player. Genius.
  23. Well I guess we shall see.
  24. It actually has nothing to do with where they are picked, it's the average of the top 10 at their position.
  25. So the Rams, who have a good defense, and have now added Watkins to Gurley, Woods and an offensive minded coach are a potentially high 2nd pick?
