  1. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. There is a wall of strength around you! Astro
  2. Clements and the entire defense is going to take good risks to come up with turnovers this year. I am not mad at Clements; he was going for what he thought was a gimme INT. I AM mad at the 3 defenders on Wilford, that one didn't knock his freaking helmet off, one didn't go for the guy's elbow rendering Wilford's hand numb, and the third didn't hit him low enough to flip him. Bad angles.
  3. I don't think anyone has made this point, frogger. Worth pondering! I still think that TH in the first half to wear 'em down, then bringing in WM in the second half to bounce around is a great every-game option.
  4. Good post. I agree with all 3 KEYS, hoping that the O-Line allows the first to happen (DB Rhythm), and doesn't allow the 3rd to happen (Penalties). The rest will be up to the defense. Adams having turf toe is a concern of mine; PW and Anderson/Bannan/Edwards platooning better pick up the slack. An early lead would be major. It would allow us to pound the ball mercilessly and set up occasional passes downfield (or YAC type passes).
  5. Drew had 314 yards of passing yardage in that game, and if we are to beat the Jaguars, we WILL have to pass. Not 314 yards, but we will need to score early, then run, run, and run some more, setting up the 15-25 yard passes sprinkled in here and there as the Jags put 8 in the box. If their defensive pressure comes up the middle, then our RB draws, screens, misdirections, passes into the flat, short outs, etc. should slow them up. BILLS 23 JAGS 10
  6. -- Jaguars Bracing for Moulds -- Wed Sep 8, 2004 --from FFMastermind.com The Florida Times-Union reports as the Jacksonville Jaguars approach their regular season opener with the Bills, they will have to pay close attention to Buffalo WR Eric Moulds. Moulds has excelled against the Jaguars, catching 21 passes for 341 yards (a 16.2-yard average) and three touchdowns in four career games. "He's a big, strong receiver who has great speed,'' said Jags CB Rashean Mathis, who will draw the primary assignment to cover Moulds. "Moulds is definitely a guy you have to respect, especially because he's so physical.'' Rashean, you thought Frances rained down on you? Welcome to Hurricane Eric.
  7. I disagree. In the 4 practices I watched and in the preseason games I watched, Trafford caught everything thrown to him, found open space, blocked well enough. I was actually watching him thinking I was watching Peters' competition, and I was impressed. Thought we'd keep both somehow.
  8. Another solution: See how Euhus and Neufeld shake out over the coming year. If you have 2 successors to Mark Campbell, you have trade bait for a LT who's actually played that position. Bring a well-tutored Peters in as backup TE.
  9. You're betting against a lot of home teams. KC over Denver might be the shaky one. Also, I dunno about the Buff/Jax over.
  10. It's too bad. Trafford did all he could do, but he was a victim of numbers. Peters is good enuf to keep on the PS, and he's different enuf from Euhus and Neufeld that he got the nod. Trafford was a good medium-size, pass-catching, good blocking TE. It's just that we have 3 of those.
  11. For both hockey fans on the board. Astro
  12. We won't see much 4-wide against the Jags, though. We can't afford to have nobody in the backfield to protect the 4 second statue. We might see lots of Moulds-Reed-Evans, with TH-WM in the backfield, as they have some weaknesses in the 15-25 yard range--especially if TH-WM has been having luck up the middle. They'll be cheating up front like Sally in my Biology class.
  13. It's really good advice for Mike Mularkey, too. "Hey Mike--Don't bring axes into the locker room." "Thanks, Astrobot. I was thinking of doing that, but now I won't."
  14. I did this before last year's blowout. Here we go again. 1. Opening Day Home Game for the Bills. 2. Hurricane Frances distraction--Power outages, downed trees, leaking roofs and closed roads were the order of the day in Jacksonville. Del Rio had to cancel Monday's practice due to lingering storms. 3. Jags were 5-11 last year. 4. They’re not a quick starting team: 1-7 start last year. Jags will remember last year’s pounding by the Bills. 5. Jags look awful in the passing game. The first unit couldn’t score on the Pat’s 2nd team in preseason. Leftwitch’s “big windup” takes too much time. Leftwich struggled through a touchdown-less preseason. Byron doesn’t look comfortable against the blitz. Watch for blitzes from everywhere on Sunday. 6. This is still a young football team. Three rookies will start. Linebacker Daryl Smith will have his hands full. 7. Fifth-round pick Josh Scobee will be the kicker. 8. We get Reggie Williams in his first NFL game—too much for RW. WR Jermaine Lewis (also the intended kick returner) suffered an ankle sprain in preseason. Jimmy Smith is 36—and the drug issues will take their toll this year. 9. Injury list includes TE Kyle Brady (finger) and TE George Wrighster (foot), and might even include Fred Taylor (foot). 10. Lack of depth at defensive tackle—Willie Blade will be there (too new) and Hugh Douglas won’t be at RDE, and LDE Tony Brackens is waived. Those two positions have now been turned over to a group that has a combined 16 starts at the position. LB-DE Cordova, picked in RD#3 in the draft and the starting hand-on-the-ground pass-rusher from the defensive end position. Basically, the Jags don’t have a 3rd Down outside pass rusher. 11. It would be even more of a field day up the middle if DelRio does what he’s been talking about: Paul Spicer and Rob Meier go to DT, and Marcus Stroud and John Henderson go to DE. 12. Redmond, a special teams coverage star, was waived. 13. RB position is dinged up badly. Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala (foot), they just signed stop-gap RB Moreau, but who may have to play if Taylor’s not 100%. All three running backs suffered ankle sprains in preseason. 14. The Jags can be beat deep. Their CB’s are questionable. Washington lacks speed. Mathis will need some help with Moulds. Lee Evans, come in please. 15. Jags’ punter. Remember Axe Accident? He’s back. Sorta.
  15. I typed "349 University Dr." Rochester into MapQuest. There is no 349 University Dr.
  16. Moats ended this game with 258 yards and 3 TD's. La Tech had over 270 yards rushing to Nevada's 2. We'll see if Moats is for real when they play Tennessee in a couple weeks.
  17. Love It! Good price, too. I wonder if they'd like a bulk order!
  18. Brandon Spoon was a very popular LB prospect until he had a devastating bicep injury and was out for the entire 2002 season. He was supposed to be London Fletcher's backup. Spoon's claim to fame was that his neck was wider than his head.
  19. Cummins is our secret weapon. Only NFL DOT COM and Sportsline.com know we have him...and of course all of you on TSW. Don't tell anybody.
  20. Rams | Spoon Released - from www.KFFL.com Mon, 6 Sep 2004 06:31:46 -0700 Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams have released LB Brandon Spoon.
  21. and of course, our savior at center, Randall Cummins: NFL DOT COM LOL
  22. OT Whitfield cut by Falcons, out with a broken fibula, and 32 years old: " ``My desire ain't gone, so I'm going to keep playing. Even if it's in damn east Tibet with the Buddhist Monk Raider Cats, shoot, I'm going to keep playing.''.
  23. RB Ryan Moats for La. Tech is dubbed the next Barry Sanders, and the La. Tech O-Line is looking good. La. Tech has not passed yet this year.
  24. I'd have to add that I was disappointed that Dominick Stevenson was cut. I thought that he was great on Special Teams. I too will continue to enjoy blaming Pukecillo whenever we don't gain 6 yards, or yield a sack.
