    'Covid relief Bill'

Here are 10 crazy examples of waste and partisan kick-backs that have nothing to do with COVID-19 but are in the new bill.

    1. $1 Billion for ‘Racial Justice’ for Farmers

“The $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package being pushed by President Biden puts more than $1 billion toward ‘socially disadvantaged’ farmers and related groups — including an equity commission, agricultural training and other assistance to advance racial justice in farming,” Fox News reports.

    2. $50 Million for ‘Environmental Justice’ Grants

The legislation allocates $50 million for “environmental justice” grants via the Environmental Protection Agency. The Republican Study Committee decried these grants as a “thinly-veiled kickback” because much of this money will end up going to left-wing political groups.

    3. $112 Million for California Transit Project

In an expenditure with zero apparent connection to COVID-19, the new bill allocates $112 million for the “Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) expansion” program. The money would largely go to a specific “underground rail project in Silicon Valley for which planning has been going on for several years but hasn’t yet broken ground,” Fox Business reports.

    4. $10 Million for Native American Language Preservation

Slipped into the seemingly endless bill text is a $10 million appropriation to “ensure the survival and continuing vitality of Native American languages during and after the public health emergency.”

    5. $200 Million for Museum and Library Services

Museums and libraries are, for the most part, closed across the country. Yet under this bill, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (did you even know that was a thing?) would be allocated $200 million in taxpayer money.

    6. $750 Million for ‘Global Health’

One might expect the U.S. Congress’s COVID-19 legislation to focus on, well, the U.S. But the new legislation allocates a whopping $750 million for the Centers for Disease Control to spend on global health problems and vaccination efforts in other countries.

    7. $750 Million for Native American Housing

The bill also allocates $750 million — on top of existing and prior funding — for “housing assistance and supportive services programs for Native Americans.”

    8. Expansion of Obamacare Subsidies

House Democrats have long sought to expand Obamacare subsidies and eliminate caps that prohibit them from going to high-income individuals. Unable to find the votes to do so via the normal legislative process, they’ve simply slipped this partisan priority into their “COVID” relief legislation.

    9. Billions for Public Schools Whether They Reopen or Not

The behemoth legislation doles out $129 billion for K-12 schools, ostensibly earmarked for helping them reopen. But it’s actually just a handout for teachers’ unions and public schools. They get the money regardless of whether they reopen or not, and much of it is allocated for spending in 2022 through 2028, long after the pandemic.

    10. Countless Pet Projects for Powerful Lawmakers

There are too many in the bill to count, but one glaring example of the corruption and cronyism peppered throughout this bill comes courtesy of the $1.5 million it allocates for the Seaway International Bridge. The bridge “connects New York to Canada and is a priority for New York Sen. Chuck Schumer,” the Wall Street Journal notes.

Rampant Corruption is a Feature of Big Government, Not a Bug

One would like to think that this bill and its untold billions in waste, corruption, and pork are an unusually egregious example of Congressional dereliction. Unfortunately, this kind of dysfunction is par for the course.

Nothing illegal... yeah pork barrel politics for projects favored in certain states... waste is in the eye of the beholder... not applicable to the title of the Bill... sure... but nothing new... line item veto was able to derail some of this, but Sup Ct said it was unconstitutional and both sides do this.  Question, and I haven't looked it up... is this an authorizing bill or an appropriations bill.  If authorizing... than it just means that the feds are allowed to spend the money... but if no money is appropriated it is DOA.   Lots of things get in authorizing bills that are never allocated because no money is appropriated for it... just saying.

Interesting.... I vacation in CA every year. It just depends on where you go. But isn't that the case with every state?

Yeh but that doesn't fit their narrative and ps Tampa is a dump... and now a dying dump you are right though every state has its areas and others that are nice...  The question I think to in the Post article the right wing misses is tying Trumpism to perpetuating anti-health measures solidifies the Democratic coalition the same as abortion solidifies and energizes the Republican coalition.  Question for me is which one will be a bigger coalition.  Obviously it will depend on the state.

I can see why you'd get the shot, and would agree. You have underlying health concerns, so it makes sense for you to get the shot. There are fortunate people whose immune systems are just fine, after recovering from COVID. They likely have a sufficient amount of Antibodies in their system to fight off COVID. This is something else I struggle with. No one is really telling us what a good amount of antibodies is. Sure, it may vary, but the shots give us antibodies too. If someone has been protected  from having more than a handful of sick days in their working life, why should they inject something that they don't know what the long range effects are, and when they have already recovered from COVID ?

So this is my understanding from talking to docs who better understand the research and its implications... the RNA vax gives you better protection against variability or strains of the virus... while your antibodies do decrease over time... about 3% per Month you still have memory cells that know how to create T cells to fight an infection..  which is why people with break thru infections dont die... but they can still get infected... those that got infected and then got vaxed in very small studies so far have all been immune... it is not known how long that lasts..

I have been rockin the natural immunity for 23 months now. Im feeling pretty confident in it. I do think alot of at risk people should get vaccinated though

Im rocking both... but Im a hospital worker and dont go into large crowds... not taking any chances... again saw 11 people die a day a year and half ago including docs, nurses and kids...  I have a family to protect... do both and be safe imo...

    A. I had Covid. Have antibodies

    B. I stay in pretty decent physical shape.

    C. My mother is an RN. Reported no huge rise in ICU cases and I'm in NYC area. Heavily populated.

I trust my natural immune system to handle a potential illness

    ✌❤

    D. Wish you and your loved ones nothing but peace and good health!

    Link?

Look for it yourself widely published about it when pfizer and moderna first came out... RNA mechanism was part of an NIH study to find an AIDS vax

    Same to you.

Wish The best to you and your loved ones.

My mom got vaxxed,  I encouraged her- 60 , Recent breat cancer,  I was glad she got it.

I'm in my 30s, have the antibodies,  work out, do cardio, take vitamin D.

Yes , flu vaccines are worked on constantly and consistently.  This isn't that

This specific vaccine has been worked on for almost 2 years.

Historically,  vaccines take 7-10 years to hit the public. I don't trust a Vax that was made available in 15 months!💯

Actually its been worked on for much longer... came out AIDS vaccine effort that ran out of funds a number of years ago.

There's a lot of hot hot takes in this thread, looks like your personal choices have consequences, one of which is not being able to going to a Bills game in person.

This is a team and business complying with local regulations.  Direct your (unjustified) anger to the county, it's absurd to be mad at the Bills here.

    Business reason probably insurance related

My 12 year old got vaxxed in June and he's already grown 2 inches and his grades have gone from C's to A's!

That was a joke, of course.  But, seriously, me, my wife and my son are vaccinated.  I recommend it to everyone.  I would have been dead by age 10 from cancer, if I had trusted my natural immunity to heal me, instead of the scientists at Roswell.

Yeh mine now 17 year old did that and now is 6'4" 230lbs

Question for registered Democrats who voted for Biden in the primary of which, I am niether.  Based on the mess we are in after only 6 months of Demented Biden's presidency - if you could change your primary vote, who would you pick?  Loco Brenie is looking pretty good at this point.  At this point I would take anybody who is lucid.  What a mess.

Despite some issue like the trump created Afghanistan deal Biden has done ok... Against Anti vaxxer conspiracy freedumbers he has managed to slowly raise overall vax rate and states like TX and Fla continue to crap on their own people especially hospital workers

I don't believe that's accurate at all.  You're likely going with the agenda-driven Atlantic article which served as a platform for that nut-job to spread his view that lock-downs had no impact.

Covid: Suicide attempts among young girls surged by more than 50% during pandemic, CDC says (cnbc.com)

Suicide attempts increased among adolescents aged 12 to 17, especially young girls, during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to CDC data.

Among the young girls, average weekly visits to the emergency department for suspected suicide attempts from February 2021 to March 2021 was 50.6% higher than the same period a year prior.

The study likely underrepresents the real number of suspected suicide attempts because Americans were hesitant to go to hospitals during the pandemic, in fear of contracting Covid-19.

Suicide attempts surged among 12- to 17-year-olds, especially adolescent girls, during the Covid-19 pandemic and got worse the longer social distancing orders and government lockdowns persisted, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Yeh lock downs have saved lives at height of pandemic but post psych is way up at the hospitals I work at in southern westchester

Well unregulated states just means freedumb to be crapped and not paid for it.

NYC is on the brink of becoming Australia.  Stand with these people.

California needs to recall it's authoritarianism scum bag.  Stand with them.

Resist it all.  It's a seasonal flu they are slowly getting you used to mitigating and vaccinating for life against without justification and are prepared to segregate society to do it.  Eradication hopes (however fake those were) are done.  And we are done with the lunacy.  The data says time to move on.

Lol bs yeh there are some yahoos in Staten Island but very few
