Wow I actually agree with Sullivan outside of the not needed Trump comment. I feel dirty
 -
It’s sad that this is the case, but so true.
 -
I know you’re being sarcastic, but did we not do that to a lot of teams during the regular season? Did we not do that to the Chiefs in the regular season. When it comes to the playoffs we are out coached by Kansas City every time.
 -
	That’s coaching

I think we see a couple players differently. I believe Burton is an Immediate WR2 with WR1 upside not a WR3. I also don’t see TJ Sanders as DT2. I see him playing 30-35% of the snaps behind Oliver and them giving up on Carter who they invested a 3rd rounder on last year instead of taking Troy Franklin, who I was clamoring for. The TJ sanders and the 3rd corner/blocking TE areas were my only big complaints. I think those were prime areas to trade up for the WR you wanted (Burden 2nd, Horton 5th) and still have the same draft defensively minus Sanders or Strong)
 -
You don’t think that’s a small window? You don’t think as he ages he’s gonna be less mobile? You don’t think that this is his prime?
 -
It’s not about the past horrible franchise we’ve been it’s about squandering the small window we have with the best quarterback in the league. Fans just want a Super Bowl and know Josh is the only reason that’s a real possibility.

Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)
NeverOutNick replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hopefully this happens. He or cooper are really the only options in free agency to get a deep threat and yes cooper still brings something to this offense even if it was limited last year. outside of grabbing Moore, maybe we can make a trade for an overloaded WR corps like Jmo on the lions or one of GBs plethora of WRs -
I’m glad you asked what I would do. Even if it were sarcastic. I wouldn’t have traded up for TJ sanders (feels like they’re admitting they missed on Carter, which kudos for being honest). If I were going to trade up that high why not go a couple more picks higher and grab Luther Burden, the most explosive WR in the class and a kid that can do it all and fills the vertical threat we need. Or stay put with the 2 picks at the end of the 2nd and take Kyle Williams, best vertical threat in the draft instead of Sanders. If they really needed sanders then fine at the bottom of the 4th to the top of the 5th grab Horton or Watkins. But I do like the players selected in that range. So let’s say they just couldn’t part with the TE they wanted (I actually like the corners selected in that range because I believe Hancock can be a free safety and get rid of Hamlin). How about this last ditch effort, can we trade a 7th rounder next year to move up and grab Tez Johnson? Yes combine sucked but the kid is a proven deep threat and very good returner. I like most of the defensive players we selected but the trades up for DT, bypassing vertical threats made it obvious that the FO and McD don’t value keeping the WR cupboard young and cheap imo

Most of all that’s a coaching issue

Didn’t like the way Beane came in hot. Valid questions were asked regardless of our point totals and per game last year. Lost respect for Beane after that nonsense. Grow a pair and answer the concerns of your fans and media without belittling them with fantasy football nonsense. You scored 30+ because you have Josh Allen don’t act like it’s much more than that. Invest in him with cheap long term options instead of expensive jags that other teams didn’t want and maybe get a player that can stretch the field and keep the safeties honest so Josh isn’t playing backyard 7 on 7 football

He held his own and was composed. I think he could’ve done better and stayed firm and asked “Hey Brandon how are we pushing the safeties back with a bunch of guys who can’t separate? Hey Brandon is the plan to just keep re-signing other teams garbage instead of drafting our own? Hey Brandon do you think you’d lead the league in points with this WR corps and any other QB in this league besides Josh?” -

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?

You don’t think it’s impressive that they are always in the playoffs with a subpar QB? That’s curious -

Tell this thinking to the packers regime who consistently have a plethora of WRs drafted in that range that seem to turn into instant contributors. If you want I can show you at least 10 mid round WRs from the past 2 years who are already contributing. Yes it may take them half a season or more to get in sync with their QB and an NFL playbook but it’s 4 years of cheap labor and then more often than not you get them on a team friendly deal like we did with Shakir -

It’s not about getting Star WRs (although that’s a plus). The WRs we have now are not stars, besides maybe Shakir (and he was a 5th round pick). It’s about consistently getting young, cheap WRs for Josh to work with, just like we do for the d line. Some will pan out and some won’t but it’s the right strategy when you have your franchise QB. The constant retread JAGs aren’t the answer and the good WRs cost too much on there second contract. -

We lost because our coaching staff is out matched vs playoff spags and Andy. But yes the WRs also aren’t clutch or get the separation needed to keep Josh from having to be Superman -

Bills 6th Round Pick (#1) : Dorian Strong - CB - VA Tech
NeverOutNick replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Love Hamler but he didn’t seize his opportunity last year what makes you think this is the year? Samuel is and always will be a gadget player NOT a deep threat. He never has been and never will be Shakir is one of the best slot WRs in the league but not a deep threat, it’s not his game Virgil and Prather?… I guess here’s hoping one of them or one of the UDFAs is the guy but would’ve been nice to grab another more proven one in the draft like Kyle Williams. -

Valid points but does this mean we should avoid drafting potential star WR talent? -

Or even better, maybe just maybe we should look at the coaches 🤷🏻♂️. Seems to be the common denominator on why we can never get past the chiefs in the playoffs. He keeps investing in his defense with the same result. When is enough enough? -

This is great stuff! 100% agree with all that is bolded but I’m not on board with the pay James Cook ending lol. Draft multiple offensive weapons. That’s how you keep this thing sustainable so you’re not paying RBs $15mil and WRs $20 mil/year. You must not have read anything from the first 2 pages of this post -

I want to straighten you all out on something. The bills fans advocating for more help in the WR room for Josh are not stating we had a bad draft or that the defense doesn’t need help. We are stating let’s take the same approach you take on the defensive line to the WR room. Beane stated in his post draft presser that he wants to have the most competitive D line training camp and basically let the cream rise to the top even if it means we lose some really good linemen when final cuts happens. Why not do that for Josh at WR? Why not take the approach of teams with lesser QBs like the Packers and Texans or even the Chiefs, who every year bring in multiple drafted WRs and let it be a competition for who gets to be a WR with the best QB in the league. We’re not saying draft a first rounder every year but come on can’t we grab a couple mid to late rounders? Thats how you get guys like Puka, Dontayvion Wicks, Andrei Iosivas, Michael Wilson, just to name a few mid to late WRs the last couple years. Take a couple shots to help the ONLY reason your team is a perennial Super Bowl contender. And you can still have your everyone eats mentality, just with better, cheaper, long term options at the position who won’t have our once in a lifetime QB having to scramble for his life to throw up prayers to guys who can’t come down with clutch plays when it matters. -

Bills 6th Round Pick (#1) : Dorian Strong - CB - VA Tech
NeverOutNick replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are we surprised? Andy Reid is the goat and McD could have the Philly D and still play prevent D against him and lose -
You do realize that WRs you know the names of now started out as “random 4th round picks” when they were drafted (ask Shakir 😉). Just draft some WRs and stop trying to justify not being BPA when we know you’re lying after trading up for positions you really want for your coach. Now Hamler is one of my favorite PS guys but I have to admit he didn’t seize the opportunity last year and I doubt he does again this year. Shenault is not an NFL WR, he was brought in to compete for returner and will have a couple gadget plays a game if he makes the team. He’s a wasted WR slot because he doesn’t actually know how to run routes or be a receiver. Palmer may be fine but he’s overpaid for what little he’s done thus far.
 -
How did we improve the WR room by extending the guy we already had. And then grabbing the chargers 3rd WR, who played behind the awful Q Johnston. But we lost Cooper and Hollins. This draft class had speed at WR and that’s exactly what we needed a couple field stretchers but it’s ok we will cut last years 3rd round DT for the 2nd rounder we traded up for this year. No need to grab a couple WRs in the draft like the packers, Texans and other teams with franchise QBs do each year.
