  1. I can recall watching the NFL network during the draft. They went to a commercial after the Bills selected TJ Graham because they had no info on the guy. Mike Mayock stated he thought Graham was a 5th thru 7th rounder.

Hey, it remains to be seen if TJ can become that deep threat that keeps the defense honest ....or just another scrub in the many scrubs of the current Bills WR corps.

If Wilson becomes a top QB this season it certainly will give some fans the ammunition to blast Buddy Nix for another Rob Gronkowski type miss

And Tom Brady was projected to go in like the 6th round or later, oh wait, he's REALLY good. Reality is that every team has a different top 20 on their draft boards. Beyond round one, the differences in draft "boards" is far bigger. I think that the Pats pick a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round every year that the "pundits" project as a late round or FA pick. The difference is that the Pats get the benefit of the doubt and the Bills don't (here).

Another reality is, round 2 the odds are about 50% that you'll find an eventual starting player. After round 2 the odds are much worse. Adjust your expectations that all of the top 3 or 4 picks for a team will start or they've made some humongous mistake.

  2. Exactly. People forget we have more than 2 receivers capable of running routes/making catches.

Also, to whomever posted about 3rd and 6-8 and guys catching passes short of the 1st down marker; you're taught in High School to stretch your routes to the marker on 3rd down pass plays, you'd think these guys could do the same.

Ah but the defenses also know that. Is it a better strategy to run past the 1st down marker (straight into the teeth of the defense) and *hope* to catch the pass or is it better to stop short of the defense, make the catch and try to elude the defense for the first down? Neither is a winning strategy - the "run past the marker" argument is WAY too simplistic to hold much weight. The best strategy is to have 3rd and short or make first downs within the first two downs (of course, that ain't easy, either)

  3. Maybe not this round of cuts, but in the final cuts I think that Zebrie Sanders is in trouble. He looks to be a very good athlete to me, but he seems to be really struggling. I'd have to say that Hairston, Pears and Sam Young are better bets to stick at OT than he is. Perhaps they can re-sign him for the practice squad and try to get some improvement out of him. I don't quite know what the trouble is, but I have read that his strength is lacking - at least that is somewhat correctable.

  4. I try to remain optimistic after all of these years, but this looks like another 6-10 or 7-9 team.

I don't think Fitz is decent NFL starting QB and I am not sure that there is another NFL-caliber backup QB on the roster. They need to be scouring the waiver wire for a decent QB when cuts are made.

There is 1 NFL level starting WR on this roster and it is Stevie Johnson. Beyond him, David Nelson is OK, but the remainder shouldn't be in an NFL camp. I *think* maybe Naaman Roosevelt can play in this league as a 4th WR, but I am pretty sure that they will cut him because he doesn't fit their prototype of size at every position.

It hurts that the team looks to have gone 0-2010 in the draft. I have been a Spiller supporter up until now, but this guy just isn't a good NFL RB. He does have speed, but for as fast as he is, he is no threat in the passing game and is also fumble-prone.

For all of the hype that the defense has received, I am not sure that they are a top 1/2 of the league team.

Someone help me find a reason for optimism.

  5. We need healthy players on this team that can contribute today not in 2013. It's a business and it's to bad for the kid BUT, it is what it is.

He never did anything on the field that caught my eye during a game. Time to move forward!

    Hope don't win Superbowls.

Ugh, are you a scout? Did you consider that after last preseason he was playing with a broken vertabrae? I am sure that you were a professional athlete and fought through injury to make it big.

This kind of nonsense is perpetuated by media jerks like Mike Schopp who think that being sarcastic qualifies them as media stars. OK, worst case scenario - a 2nd round pick got hurt and never

contributed. That makes the Bills like every other team. For those dying to point out that they could have had Rob Gronkowski, please note that he missed his entire last year in college with a back

injury. None of you, nor a good medical staff, could have predicted Troup's injury.

There's no way any rational fan believes that Nix was using another person's board. That's completely preposterous. That draft lies solely on Nix, for better or worse. That was the beginning of our switch to the 3-4 -- Troup was drafted as a NT, Carrington as a 3-4 end, and Merriman brought on for our OLB. That was the plan anyways.

Do you not think that the area and regional scouts that were under Modrak were the primary source of the Bills' board that season? What do you think? Do you think that Nix should have bought Mel Kiper's book and drafted out of that?

  6. The bills are at 86 today. They could sign 4 DTs without cutting him today if they liked anyone.

And again, the letters PUP should be banned from the board currently - no ones eligible

OK, identify 4 DTs that are available who have even the most REMOTE chance of making this team. I am not saying that Troup will ever contribute to this team, but I AM

saying that of the available players at his position right now, he has BY FAR the best chance of contributing to this team in the future.

If you were hired for a job and were injured on that job, how would you feel about a public outcry to replace you? I am pretty sure that you would feel differently about that.

  7. Here's my reasons for letting him go.

    1. He can't stay healthy at all.

    2. Back problems...lingering back problems are a major issue with this kid.

    3. He has done absolutly nothing for the Buffalo Bills. We haven't even seen flashes of him being worthy of keeping a roster spot.

Cut him, waive him , IR him...whatever it is. Bring in another body with potential and lets move on already.

It's OVER for him. Get over it people and move forward.

With rosters at 90 players league-wide, I think it is pretty safe to say that there is not another "body with potential" to move on with.

Now, after final cuts maybe there will be, but I am confident that the Bills will have had to place him on PUP, IR or cut him by then.

I know that you are frustrated, but there is absolutely no benefit to the Bills to cut him now.

  8. Waive Torell Troup now and get it over with. He's another Merriman.

I understand frustration that a high draft choice hasn't been able to contribute due to injury. However:

    1. the injury is not his fault

    2. by all accounts I have seen, he has worked hard to recover, be ready and be a good player

    3. he has some talent (at least the Bills thought so when they drafted him in round 2)

    4. there is no disadvantage to the Bills to put him on PUP or injured reserve except that they have to pay him.

If they think he is working hard and could pan out, then I think they should keep him on PUP or IR.

  9. I hope he figures it out here in Buffalo. Not sure it's going to happen though. But it's kinda funny he says he was supposed to be RGIII - for all we know RGIII could end up more like Jamarcus Russell. Just seems like a bad analogy, but unfortunately, it doesn't sound like Vince is catching on. Get the guy off his meds, they always slow ya down.

Vince Young has had trouble with his emotions and his understanding of schemes. I have not yet heard that he doesn't work hard. JaMarcus Russell showed up WAY overweight and never put in any sort of effort at all. Russell deserves to have failed out very quickly as he did. Young, I think might just be limited in terms of some skills/aptitudes that are essential in the NFL. I can root for a guy that tries and fails, I can boo a guy who doesn't try.
