  1. Whaley is on his last year of his contract, this could be looked at as 1 year GET R DUN! I have no confidence he can draft a QB nor do I believe he will get the Bills to the playoffs. There was no way Pegula's could fire Rex with a 7-9 or 8-8 record after 1 year completed on a 5 year deal. Better off letting him fail another year, admiting TT isn't the man and gutting this team with a new President next year. Of course this also could work. We all could find 3-4 more wins with a healthier team and a few changes. My biggest problem is I am out of town and can't see myself wasting $300/yr to mainly watch bad games from the Bills on Direct TV, not a NFL fan and have Panthers on every week here. They have to do something to get us a good experienced QB that can challenge TT. Need to fix this defense, maybe fire Thurman and hire Rob Ryan as DC so Rex at least could trust the play calling and concentrate on managing game. Be at least hilarious watching these two scream at the Refs all game. Last, we need a really good #2 receiver, Harvin blew it and Woods regressed. Couldn't get wide open and got hit as he tried to catch and had little after the catch yards. We could make the playoffs but I see no chance at us beating the better teams without TT becoming great or a franchise QB drafted 1st this spring that really is good!!!!
  2. 84 O'Leary, Nick TE 6-3 252 23 R Florida State. That is not small? I never said I didn't want him and I was under the impression like Glenn he had a 4yr contract. I guess there is a option for $11mil in 2016 which the Bills can't pickup yet till after the season. What my original post was about is how do we keep all these free agents with very expensive players on our team now. Sacrifices have to be made. Allot of people are assuming players automatically renegotiate. Would you do it knowing you could make more money later on another team especially how the Bills failed to live up to expectations?
  3. OK, I was wrong about how much but the point being a LG got $8mil/yr, LT worth 2x that usually. People say Glenn is average, he has been the best LT Bills have had since Fina! If we can get a LT somewhere else with better credentials than fine but I guarantee someone will pay the 12mil/yr it will take to get for a 26 yr old LT.
  4. Sorry, I missed that too. At the beginning of the year everybody was writing he was gone, that supposedly was why we drafted Darby so high. http://overthecap.com/player/stephon-gilmore/255/
  5. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/buffalo-bills-analysis-all-22/2015/3/19/8254541/buffalo-bills-2016-salary-cap-space-projection 153mil cap with 5-6 average carry over puts the potential Bills payroll at 154-158 mil So paying a TE for 53 catches for 16mil this years and 13 mil next isn't a stupid idea. McCoy rarely got screen passes, WR rarely targeted in games. You have 20-25 passes a game right now. This doesn't warrant spending 13mil/yr on a TE when you need to sign your LT, find a RT, sign your LG, sign a #2 WR, sign at least 2 LB's and sign a #2 QB. If Clay could be restructured fine but as his contract stands now, when we signed him Cassell was going to be the starting QB!
  6. First off obviously he hasn't played enough of a NFL career to make that statement. He was however the real deal at college with the Mackey Award as the nations top TE and also is Jack Nicklaus grand son. From what I have seen of him briefly, he looks like he will be sticking with the roster now. Your getting upset with that statement? Hell I know I said 3-4 other things that probably should have been picked!
  7. He has only played a couple games, he caught 1 pass for 37 yards. He was missed by Tyrod wide open on 2 other throws. He has become a good blocker on runs and with Gragg we would be OK. Never said I didn't like Clay but would your rather have him costing $10-15mil/yr or a couple other players? Levitre got $10mil/yr to go to Tennessee as LG. Where do you get your next LT on this team? That would mean a huge signing from another team or 1st pick on a LT in rounds 14-16. Bills have no choice and I do believe he would be worth easily 6yrs at 75mil for 12.5mil/yr. It will cost more on the freeagent market and not likely as young a player.
  8. The projected Cap space next year will be $154-158 million. The Bills sit around $149 million last checked. I think they have around $10-15 mil of unused space they can carry over. Most of the raises next year eat that space up with existing players on roster. Big losses in Gilmore, Glenn and Bradham are potentially going to take place. All of them would come at around $10-12mil/yr to franchise tag. The only one really worth keeping for that money is Glenn, we have no replacement and are thin at tackle. We could survive without Gilmore and Bradham. I would like Gilmore resigned if slightly cap friendly next 1-2 years meaning allot of guaranteed upfront money. There are a few players that could create cap space; Mario Williams 11.5 salary and 4-5mil/yr in cash incentives are on the table. We would eat some prorated guaranteed money over next two years if released in June. They should try a trade but release if necessary. If we truly are a 3-4 offense then I would also part ways with Kyle Williams because you save 3-4 mil in cap space next and 6-7 the following year of a redone contract. McKelvin had signed a 4 mil/yr contract that has 2 yrs left, just can't see the Bills keeping this. Bills get back 6 mil used for Harvin. Also have to look at saving by releasing Aaron Williams, not his fault but there is a danger keeping him on the team safely wise, neck injuries the worse. All that said, this should allow Bills to have 20-25 mil to sign their own freeagents and some mid level guys. Signing our own is easier because they would help most likely with salary restraints next two years paying Darieus, Clay and McCoy's front loaded contracts. We need Glenn, 5-6 yrs at 75 mil with $50mil guaranteed should allow low cap money this year in range of 5-7mil. Need legitimate RT and Incognito signed 2-4yrs with guaranteed money should get this done . That will cost around another 6-7 mil in cap money next year. The only way to sign Gilmore is if his market went down being hurt or he gives the Bills a break. We have to draft smart and sign all restricted freeagents on this team. I for one would see if there is a market to trade Clay, we paid 16mil for him this year so his future money could be a bargain for some team desperate for a TE. I think we fared well with our TE's and O'Leary looks like the real thing. Only other huge need is backup QB but there are some options that should be cheap, I am sure Cassell will be available and I expect at least 3-4 other decent choices also. Definitely would draft one 3-4th round.
  9. Polian should be used as a consultant till Pegula finds the next VP of Football operations, since he is the Prez! He can fill Pegula's ear so he understands what too look for with the next management team. I believe Whaley is gone, EJ killed him and trading Cassell proved to be a big blunder. Taylor could have used Cassell's experiences and Bills could have benefited from two games using Cassell. I like where we are with running back but your telling me that Fred couldn't field punts and have taken Moore or Thigpens roster spot. Add to that the risk of Harvin/Goodwin always getting hurt, poor judgment. Polian is too old to run team but that doesn't mean some of the information he says isn't important!
  10. This guy was missing in action since Jags game. Bills said they had no contact with him and weren't sure why he didn't go to London. Reports were out he retired and/or some Bills player had passport issues. Stole 6mil dollars this year because he was not hurt like Goodwin or Easley. Absolutely no way in h3ll Bills should give him another chance. Pegula should ask Whaley and if he said yes or maybe I would fire him too!
  11. Too late but Schwartz
  12. Need a Football Team President first. Then guide Whaley to make better choices, he isn't a lost cause. Pegula would be crazy to just fire Rex and give him 4 years of salary but maybe he could convince him to quit with a buyout! It just isn't working. My question is would Swartz come on as HC/DC and work with Roman as OC? That really is what should have happened in the first place. Asking this defense to go through 3 coordinators in a row was not smart. Been better off keeping Swartz DC and hiring Roman back then as HC.
  13. If the Bills want to keep these players and go for it still next year they should trade Mario or Hughes and a 1st pick for Rivers. No sense messing around, San Diego is rebuilding but has to spend a certain amount on players do to CBA. No sense Rivers wasting his career in San Diego. Bills can win now despite Ryan if they have a franchise QB. If it doesn't work gut the team in 2 years and fire Ryan with 2 years left on contract.
  14. I always thought Cassell should have been the starter. I do understand them giving Taylor a shot, lots of talent but turning out to be too inconsistent. He can't see the middle of the field when he is always looking which way his escape route is. He would be great in a west coast offense with deception plays rolling out and either flipping to Shady, running himself or throwing screens. We need a pocket passer like Alex Smith who sees the field and steps up throwing to his recievers. That also means accepting a certain a few more INT's.
  15. 1. Sammy put himself out there for critisim calling out the Bills and their QB for not utilizing him. 2. Fans look at the situation and realize he is hurt all the time so another WR is getting the timing down with the QB's instead. 3. The Bills are failing so far in a promise that this season is playoffs or "BUST". 4. There happens to be allot of immature people in this world today but they do have a right as NFL fans to speak out, ignore them. 5. Sammy could have spoke out and simply said, true Buffalo Bills fans know I play hurt and hard, all others that critize me, can't wait till I am healthy and destroy your teams! 6. Sammy really should have been utilizing his time off rehabbing and resting his injured body parts. 7. The NFL and Bills are the ones that Sammy really harmed here. Hard to advertise NFL hero's and warriors who are prima donna's and uneducated.
  16. Matt Cassel hasn't had but a few weeks in Dallas, imagine EJ trying to do what Cassel is today with Dallas. Can't equate that situation to Cassel playing for the Bills in today's game. Jaguars were 1-5 and very beatable, Giants beat us. We shouldn't have lost today's game even with Manual playing, that is how bad he was today!
  17. He has started over 70+ games in this league, EJ has 16 now at 6-10. Cassel took over a hurt Tom Brady 1st game of 2008 season and led them 11-5 starting all but 1. They missed the playoffs with a identical record with Miami. He also led KC to a 10-6 record and playoffs. I am not saying he is great but I guarantee he is better than EJ Manual. Ask yourself, why would Dallas sit their backup QB to play a bad Matt Cassell and give us a 5th pick for him? Your statement doesn't make sense when this QB led 2 winning seasons in the NFL!
  18. Whaley/Nix pick EJ Manual over Cuse QB in 1st round 16th pick, Fitz quits on Bills. Over next 2 years EJ ends up getting benched and replaced by outcasted Orton who retires and HC quits. Whaley keeps job and convinces Rex to run open competition and EJ loses to Tyrod Taylor. Cassel gets cut, resigns and is backup to Tyrod till he is traded. Bills fans were then asked to believe that EJ was always their choice as backup QB even though he was inactive. WOW! Tyrod gets hurt and EJ misses throws but also hits big ones, Bills lose big and EJ is now 6-9 as starter. OK bad team coming in so give him another chance, next thing I know EJ implodes and Bills down 27-3. Forget everything else, defense letting Jacksonville go 9:30 mins out of the half, refs screwing us and Jaxs taking lead. Bottom line is 2 mins and 14 sec left to get into field goal position and all 3 time outs available, could be a tie score. Get lucky and you win in regulation. Instead EJ hits 9 yard play on first down, 2nd and 1, confused calls a TO. Roman feels so good about everything he runs Shady in short yardage formation after timeout, I would expect some play down field using EJ's strong arm to Clay or Woods. Nope 3rd and 1, EJ QB sneaks at 230lbs 6'4" and totally gets stood up and fumbles. Refs save him and call forward progress. Another TO and the best the Bills came up with is a roll left with a right handed QB who miss throws. What happens is EJ puts the ball to high for Woods, game over!!! EJ Manual is now 6-10 as a starter. When does this charade end? Why was Cassell not playing in the last 2 games, we might be 5-2 and no worse than 4-3. Bottom line is Whaley's ego has allowed a very bad decision where wins are tough to get because he can't admit he missed on EJ Manual. If that isn't the reason and he truly still thinks EJ is the backup then he should be fired immediately for being a poor QB talent evaluator.
  19. All your retric could prove is NFL should have penalized Brady 25k and maybe tried to apply this x 11! A very liberal NY fed judge got this right!
  20. New Orleans found out what bounty's will do for your club. Not so easy! That would be a article in the CBA and never would have been signed. Nice Try though!
  21. Well Tuco, that was a complete about face from Goodell being able to go after Brady for conduct detrimental to the league, what happened? Your article 15 not " holding water". Has it turned paper thin when viewed at all angles?
  22. Goodell and the NFL has lost every arbitrated case that went to Federal Court this past year. Why is that? Why did anyone think Goodell can do what ever he wants according to federal law and individual punishments. The lawyers weren't as careful as you think for the NFL. Unless you get the NFLPA to sign off on changes and rules, they represent the individuals then in federal court, not the appeal process, the individual player has a good chance of defeating a over zealous Commisioner. This is what has been happening. The CBA is a collection of rules. Goddell and lawyers picked which rule they were going after Brady for and it did not fit the circumstances. End of story!
  23. http://deadspin.com/heres-the-integrity-of-the-game-honor-code-the-nfl-sa-1722162689 " For the first timeas far as we can tellthe NFLs secret honor oath has become public, as part of the NFLPAs lawsuit over Tom Bradys suspension. Its this Integrity Of The Game Certification upon which the NFL has hinged its four-game ban on the Patriots quarterback, and yet the text of this honor code was never made available to us. Tom Bradys appeal has argued the code doesnt apply to him; indeed, only team owners, presidents, general managers, and head coaches have to sign it. (Theres no reason to believe players even knew it existed until it was used to punish Brady.) Even stranger, the honor code refers to the season previous; often, teams have to track down a fired head coach or front-office executive and get them to swear to Roger Goodell that, no, they did not cheat and have no knowledge of anyone else cheating. So heres the specific rule the NFL says Tom Brady and the Patriots violated:" INTEGRITY OF THE GAME CERTIFICATION Pursuant to Section 8.13 (A) of the NFL Constitution and Bylaws, each of the undersigned certifies that on best information and belief, and after having made appropriate inquiries of persons likely to have knowledge of these matters, the ________________ (Club) complied with all League competitive policies for the 2013 season, and each of the undersigned further certifies that the Club has not engaged in any of the following prohibited acts: violations of the equity rule relating to game-day facilities, tampering with the use of any equipment properly available to an opposing team, unauthorized use of computers or electronic equipment on game day, interference with a teams or stadiums game-day communication systems, unauthorized use of game-day frequencies, unauthorized videotaping on game-day or of practices, meetings, or other organized team activities, unauthorized and/or unreported game-day use of mies on players, or electronic eavesdropping; unauthorized entry into locker rooms, coaches booths, meeting rooms or other private areas; violations of the anti-tampering policies; violations of player personnel or eligibility rules; tampering with any gameday clocks or timing equipment, or artificially increasing crowd or other noise levels in a stadium during the reporting period.* Further, each signatory hereby certifies that he or she has no knowledge of any: - betting on NFL games, of any efforts to influence or alter the outcome of any game, of any sharing of non-public information with gamblers or persons with an interest in any gambling-related enterprise, or any prohibited association with gamblers. - violation of the bounty rule, including but not limited to the offer, payment or acceptance of a bonus of any sort for on-field misconduct, play that incentivizes or may result in injury to opposing players, pay for performance or for team performance against a particular player, position group or team. - club or club employee promising, announcing or providing any form of non-contract consideration to a player in violation of the Constitution & Bylaws or Collective Bargaining Agreement. - any sale, use or distribution of substances prohibited by the NFL Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances. (No club will be deemed to have violated this aspect of the certification merely because a player violates the Policy.) Finally, each signatory further certifies that the Club has reported all actual or suspected violations that it became aware of, including actual or suspected violations committed by the Club, any club employee, or third parties. Any exceptions to the above representations are set forth on the attached page(s). (Date) (Principal Owner/CEO) (Date) (President) (Date) (General Manager) (Date) (Head Coach) * Reporting period is from February 28, 2013 to March 1, 2014." As you can read, the players didn't agree to this. The mentioned employees can offer up the guilty but that doesn't mean the punishment adheres to the players. The players are protected by a Union and we're not subject to this Certificate drawn up by the NFL.
  24. The CBA is a collection of allot of different rules and rights. One of the rights is the Commisioner has authority to make changes to discipline but he can't arbitrarilly decide what can be disciplined. Meaning he can't change on the fly the NFL Integrity rule as written in the CBA already on who can be punished. He can petition the owners, NFLPA to make the change to mean players but can't just decide this himself. The commisioner also doesn't have the right to convict someone when there is no direct evidence then claim the player impeded the process. Believe me, if Roger won this case the NFLPA would go to court stop this CBA for allowing a dictator ship to be laid in place against individual rights given in the constitution. A employee can be fired but not disciplined arbitraily outside of the constitution rights of the 5th amendment. The burden of proof for discipline comes from being found guilty beyond the reason of doubt. Roger Goodell has not been given the right to take away legal action against the NFL when it violates federal law and constitutional rights. Brady has a right to defend himself from arbitrally being called GUILTY and punished. The team however isn't afforded the same rights since they are a franchise of the NFL and are held to a higher "NFL Integrity". The Patriots as a employer hold more of a right to discipline for Integrity since they pay his check but still rules are in place. If a individual violates the NFL Integrity rule that is on the team first, the NFL has no rights to discpline a individual for this. The team was fined and disciplined, they can punish Brady if he had a part, not the league.
  25. The NFL messed up big here and Roger Goodell should be fired. First you don't have a independent investigation if your VP, Pace directs, proof reads it and adds his own notes to the draft. Second, you can't accuse a player on a fineable infraction, player doesn't cooperate and call it protecting the NFL Integrity and punish the player as if they broke the drug policy. The initial charge was never proven and he couldn't be fined for it, the team yes. It is not the right of any employer to take personal property of a employee to prove a case against them without a warrant. Third, the NFL integrity in the CBA can only be punishable to Team, owner, management not the players. A memo came out in March 2014 trying to change this to individual players but was never submited to the players or the Union, it doesn't apply to the players. Fourth, past presedence set the action the NFL could take. Roger Goodell didn't need to spend 3 million on a investigation that could only charge a $25,000 fine, period! He could have laid down the fine and see if the team and Brady appealed. Why do you think Goodell took this whole thing this far? He was trying to set new precedence so he could give himself absolute authority over players. GUESS WHAT, ROGER GOODELL LOST BIG TODAY!!!! The 2nd Court of Appeals will not hear this case unless Roger Goodell can bring something new to the table. They will review the findings and turn down this appeal. In 2006 the league gave Payton Manning the right to petition all QB's so they can manipuate the footballs any way they want. Does anyone truely believe that 1-1.5 pounds of pressure really makes that much of a difference that Brady would risk his legacy over this? As a Bills fan and a Buffalo native, this whole fiasco to me is a joke. The fact that fans really believe Brady deserves 4 games for this shows me that there is little common sense in people today. Darieus almost puts his vehicle into a restaraunt in Hamburg and allot of you because of this want his suspension lifted, Darieus should be in jail! Everyone take a chill pill and enjoy that one of the best QB's ever will be playing our Bills killer defense and once and for all get knocked off his throne. The fact that anyone wants him suspended instead tells me you want everything handed to the Bills and care less how they get it. Who's worse, the hand that reaches out for help when not needed to win or the one that takes what they can to get ahead to win even if it crosses a fine line?
