  1. You're kidding right? Do you think Wilson even knows what going on? The only way this team will ever be good under wilson is by pure luck. That is, we have a Kurt Warner step on the field from some local grocery store. Other than that this is the modern day bag over your head Saints team.

You may be right, I don't know how involved Ralph is with personnel decisions. Does he have a say in who we pick #1? Good question but your may be right he probably is home in Detroit counting his money and the days until his next good BM.

  2. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody already knows this. Gailey said it because it's both true and germane.

You can't address all your weak spots in one year's draft, especially when you're switching defensive schemes and have two and possibly three major weaknesses on the o-line and need a QB and probably a #2 WR. It just can't be done.

They've made it clear that they're going to build through the draft and fill in with low to mid-level FAs. Don't like it? Find another team or avoid any Bills news for a year or two. We don't want to hear the whining. We all know we have major OL problems, well, all but the most seriously deluded.

And this is from a guy who wanted to trade down a few spots and pick Bulaga as long as we didn't get Dan Williams.

Got me mixed up with somebody else. Yes I did campain for Bulaga but never mentioned Dan Willams anywhere.

Yeah I don't like it, but after 35 years as a die hard fan I've earned the right to think and say whatever I want. You don't like that, quit reading my posts.

  3. The Vikings now have four QBs on their roster. Someone has to go. Putting Joe Webb on the practice squad would seem like the obvious choice but word out of Minnesota is that they are pretty high on this kid and don't want to risk having him claimed off of waivers. That leaves Jackson and Rosenfels. Jackson signed a 1 year deal worth a little over a million in April. He also let it be known that he is not too happy with the way the organization sent three of his teammates down to Mississippi to persuade Favre to come back. If I'm Buddy Nix I would keep a close eye on this situation. Either Jackson or Rosenfels would be an upgrade for us.

+1 give me the one they cut and he is instantly our #1 QB. In all the years after Kelly it may take a teams cast off to find our next QB. Unfortunately Sage put up some huge numbers last week (310 yrds, 3 TD) so I doubt he's gone but Jackson may be a perfect fit with his mobility behind our great oline.

  4. Au contrare mon frere. You can B word and moan all you want, but the Bills are what they are. They are where they are. 10 years later, THIS IS WHAT WE GOT!! This is year one of this regime. They have had less than a year to assemble this team. That being said, if next year looks like last year, rest assured my season tix count will go down. I don't make excuses for anyone. But if you think that fans have anything to do with the direction of the team, you are delusional.

Likewise, if you think they could have secured a QB, LT, RT, 2 WRs, a TE, a Defensive line and at least 2 starting LBs in 1 year, back off the hooka.

Ok let's use your logic and the proverbial "can't do it all in 1 year" excuse. You say (and I would agree) that we needed to get better in the following areas: QB, LT, RT, WR, TE, DL, LB. So with the #9 pick we take RB? When we have 2 starters already and Bell and the kid from Indy (who both look good). So w/o Spiller we were set at RB, do I have to name all the players at the positions you mentioned we passed on in round 1? I really don't want to hear about value either because value IS determined by team needs. What's valuable to one team is not necessarily valuable to the next. Spiller may have been valuable to the Texans but not to us.

And if you don't like to be insulted back stop the delusional and drugs references to those who share a different opinion.

This isn't a fact board, it's an opinion board so neither of us is wrong or right, just see things very different.

  5. How come no mention in here about the M&M boys applying the heat versus the Redskins.

Both McCargo and Maybin picked up a quarterback sack each

McCargo looked good..there I said it. He looked very strong. I think if he makes the team he can be used when we throw out our 4-3 front. I don't think he beats out Johnson, Carrington for a roster spot though. Maybin still looked like he's got no ass behind him, he's appears too weak, but he's fast. Maybins sack was against a 4th stringer who won't make the team, against Trent Williams he was irrelevant.

I posted a positive thread about Levitre yesterday because I'm pretty negative after 10 years and need to find the good, even 1 play, when I can. Yes they both had a sack and that was great, but against the 1st teamers it's a different story.

  6. This team will not be built THIS year. It seems some people think it's possible. Let's find out what we have before kicking it to the curb and rebuilding again again. Just who the FA was or that stud LT in the 2nd round has escaped me.

Face it, there is no feasible way they can plug all the holes this year. And even if they did, it would get us to about 8-8.

Problem is they've had 10 years to PLUG HOLES and we now have more holes than a block of swiss cheese. How many times am I gonna hear "can't be done in a year" or "takes 2-3 years for a rebuild to come together" or "I have a wait and see attitude" or "it's only the first pre/reg/season game, first year, second year etc" or "there was no good free agents or draft picks where we picked anyway" ,so lets get another RB when we have 2 starters.

As long as Ralph has fans like you who make excuses for the terrible decisions made by HIS staff year after year he's got no reason to change the way he runs the team. False hope, marketing gimmicks are provided by OBD each year and the lemmings continue to jump over the cliff.

  7. Who is getting abused in Pittsburgh.

I'd like to see exactly what this opinion is based upon. I'll say it again: Kirk Chambers or Flozell Adams?

Since out tackles are injury prone and stink once in the game, Kirk ends up with tons of PT. We could still go after Marcus Mcneil a probowl LT, didn't go after Jamal Brown who looked pretty good Friday. My point is we did NOTHING except get Cornholed.

  8. bingo.

Have you been folowing Flozell in Pitt? He came into camp late as he was a late sign and then missed some practice with a minor injury. He played a few series in preseason and didn't look great, but as good as any Bill so far either. I bet you that once the regular season starts he will be at least average which is more than anything we can hope for with our worthless bunch of tackles. He could have started at right tackle or been quality depth at either position. I guess you'd rather see Kirk Chamber instead of Flozell Adams!

  9. I was just waiting for this excuse. I knew it was coming and now that he said it confirms my belief that Nix seriously screwed up this offseason by not addressing the O-Line. Gailey says in an article from Chris Brown yesterday that: a QB can't throw downfield while he's scrambling for his life or lying on his back, we got to protect better (paraphrasing).

They are already using the poor oline as an excuse for Trent's failure to throw past 4 yards. I know we played w/o some starters on the oline Friday night but doubt Cornhole Green would do much better. The fact that Nix did nothing to shore up our oline this past offseason will kill this team, something I've been saying since the draft ended . The Bills have alot of money to spend, no cap, no Schobel, small payroll; would it kill them to bring in a Flozell-Jamal Brown-Marcus Mcneil etc.

Damit Ralph spend some money and get us some NFL tackles! Nix get out of bed before noon, put down the Metamucil, pick up the rotary dial phone and do something-Oh Yeah it's too late for this year so go back to bed.

  10. FACE IT! Gailey is good with Trent, Fitz and Brohm...in that order. He was fine with it all off season, that's why they brought in nobody. I think it sucks as I've been watching Trent for 3 full years and Fitz for 2. It is a hard pill to swallow but Coach Chan thinks Trent can do the job. It will take a complete debacle to change his mind. You are just a wishful thinker if you think the depth chart will change at QB prior to the season. EVERYTHING Coach has said supports his current QB's, in the current pecking order. WE ARE STUCK WITH QB-CRAP THIS YEAR!

  11. I'm calling BS on your BS-calling...

Ask yourself two questions: (1) who are the top-notch organizations in today's NFL? and (2) how did they get that way?

Answer #1: Indianapolis, New England, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Green Bay, NY Giants

Answer #2: By drafting quality players year after year.

Not one of those teams was built through free agency. Now, there may be a free agent acquisition here or there (i.e. Randy Moss, Brett Favre), but if you look at those teams, the overwhelming majority of their personnel are draft picks. For example:

    - Indy's starting OL, QB, RBs, WRs, TEs, DL, LBs...all draft picks

    - NE's QB, starting OL, RBs, DL, LBs, DBs...all draft picks

    - SD's QB, starting OL, RBs, WRs, TEs, DL, LBs, DBs...all draft picks

    - Pit's QB, starting OL, RB, WRs, TEs, DL, LBs, DBs...all draft picks

    - Min's QB (until Favre comes back), staring OL, RB, WRs (assuming Harvin starts over Berrian opposite Rice), DL (save Jared Allen), LBs...all draft picks

I could keep going, but I think I've made my point. Great organizations become great by building through the draft, which is what Buffalo is trying to do. Will they do it well enough to become great? Who knows? I personally have my doubts.

Now, if you disagree with that, I'd love to see an example of an organization that has created and sustained long-term NFL success in any way other than drafting well and not blowing money on free agents, I'd love to hear it.

Until then, I call BS on your BS-calling...

Wrong on many counts. Was Pat Williams drafted by the vikings? Did New England draft Addalis Thomas? Did San Diego draft Josh Reed? Did Pittsburg draft Flozell?

  12. The guy was completely lost. Defensive end to outside linebacker is one thing. Inside backer? That's quite a reach. He had no clue and to top it off, he didn't even look the least bit athletic.

Why do the BILLS continue to draft players and ask them to play a position they've never played? Harris, Moats, Batten

These players had stellar carreers. I watched Moats play an hour down the road at JMU and he was a beast, unstoppable as a DE. Then the BILLS draft him and ask him to play ILB, a position he's never played and people on this board rip him a new one. Arthur Moats is an athletic freak, you don't know what your talking about. He did seem lost in space but its his first game at LB: IN THE NFL! Cut him a break, it's the BILLS fault for not using his strengths and putting him in a position to fail. Why not draft Spiller and ask him to play Center, basically the same thing, he doesn't know how and it's not his fault.

  13. Chambers shouldn't be playing, but with Bell and Green out, he had to be pressed into duty. Just because he started last year shows how bad the O-line situation was. Howard shows promise, but isn't ready. And there was some pressure from the left side but it was hardly "consistent."

I know what you're trying to get at, but he's a good pass-rusher. If Meredith was "getting beat consistently," Trent would have been sacked at least once, or even hurried.

How do you get sacked or hurried when you throw the ball 5 yards downfield? I don't know what you were watching but from my point of view the line couldn't give him enough time to even look downfield. We can debate about the oline, QB, pass rush all we want but the truth is it all needs major improvements in personnel.

  14. I was at the game Friday night against the Redkins. There was 1 payer who stood out and had the best block of the game for either team. Andy Levtire was left 1 on 1 against Albert Haynesworth, the highest paid D-Lineman in the NFL (last I checked). It was a passing play and Haynesworth knew it and came straight ahead with a massive bull rush.Young alligator armed Levitre had perfect technique, got his arms into Haynesworths body, kept his feet moving and held his block until the pass was gone. Now he was driven back, but unlike last year he was pushed into the QB, it didn't effect the play and he did his job even though giving up 30-40 pounds agaisnt the probowl DT.

Right now I am sooo negative when it comes to the BILLS, I know they suck. But I don't want his play to be lost in the ton of crap that's the rest of the team and all the negativity that comes with it. It can be very hard to watch this team and find terrfic plays and players, but that play on Friday night should not go unnoticed.

  15. I was just watching sportscenter before the monday night football pregame show started and mike ditka, keyshawn johnson, cris carter, and tom jackson just completely mocked the bills. They were talking about how the giants are in a much tougher division than the jets are. I dont remember the exact words so im going from what i remember... Ditka goes "the giants have to face the redskins, eagles, and cowboys and all the jets have to deal with is the patriots and maybe the dolphins, and then ditka goes "forget about buffalo, they never win in buffalo" and someone else said "yeah they dont have to ever worry about the bills." And the whole crew just started dying, laughing hysterical saying "hah the bills, hah." I wanted to jump threw the screen and beat them all. I hope to god we shock the world and then ill send in a nice letter to that crew and then see what they have to say.

If you want to beat somebody up go after Ralph Wilson for putting this pitiful product out for our consumption.

Being a Bills fan is like eating a whole tube of Chinese toothpaste every day for 10 years!

  16. You know though PTR, it was one of them games had a couple of plays went just a little differently, take a penalty or two away, I don't know, maybe things could have went differently,

Myself personally, I'm still optimistic and think 9-7 or better is still going to happen,

This is a wake up call and we still have a long way to go, but better now then in the Miami game,

9-7 ? I give you credit for being an eternal optimist. Or are you just stubborn, stupid, or sadistic? I had to golf with my BILLS golf bag Sunday in DC and took a beating, although most people were just showing sympathy and pity on me for being a BILLS fan. You can't be serious 9-7, give me a hit of that stuff you're smokin'

  17. So you missed his sack? He was credited 1 sack. While watching Maybin try to run around the outside on every play.. I was like.. doesn't this guy have an inside move? Right after I was thinking that he finally got off a inside spin move for a sack of Beck. Beck went down like a cream puff.. but he still got his hands on him and got the sack.

It doesn't matter what he did against the 4th string tackle. Against trent williams, a rookie, he was a non factor, unless you throw in the penalty that cost us a TD. You cannot possibly count that sack against the water boy.

  18. Looks like you missed a large portion of the game then, even though you were there. As many have said already, when the OT gets both hands on him...sure...he's pretty useless right now. When he gets the edge (which he did atleast 5 times Friday) , he usually makes pretty good things happen (ie. a Sack, A forced Sack into another player which both happened Friday along with a hurry or 2)

He got a sack against a 4th string RFA who will not be on the team next week. When Maybe went against Trent Williams he was irrelevant! You Maybe apologists crack me up. He gets a sack against the water boy and you think he's the next Bruce Smith. He was a number 1 draft pick, can't play against the run and gets blown up by 1st team tackles. Yeah I was there in section 122 row 16 seat 5 to watch him get his little ass handed to him.

  19. I am completely at peace with the miserable season we are going to have. The fact of the matter is we are never going to move forwards as a franchise without a legit staring QB. Let's take our lumps, draft Jake Locker, and move forward.

    http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2011.php

I am not a college football fan, but I am going to watch every Huskies game I possibly can. I have watched a ton of highlight footage on this kids and I get crazy excited at the mere notion he could be our QB next season. For every game the Bills lose, hopefully I will be able to offset the experience of watching that game by watching Jake Locker have an amazing game that will eventually lead him to a Heisman trophy. I just hope to see us lose a lot of games while still showing signs of improvement in areas other than QB. After the first preseason game against the Skins, I don't know if that's going to happen, but one can always hope.

The bills will take a 1 year wonder, situational pass rusher with the first pick in the draft. Oh yeah they already did that with Maybe. Who drafted Kelly, Bruce, Wolford? Get tht guy back to run our draft.

  20. I was watching Maybin rush the passer and was like.. doesn't this guy have an inside move? He tries to run around the outside on every play.. Then to my surprise he did a beautiful inside spin move and sacked the QB.. Hey.. just need a couple of those a game. I actually felt a little hope on that play.

That Spin move was against an undrafted RFA who is 4th on the depth chart. When he played against Trent Williams he was mauled, manhandled like a little school girl against a gorilla. I was there, watching him play and was very disappointed that he looked to be weak, small, took bad angles. He did have a great penalty on 3rd-3 that cost us a touchdown. I would take any of the guys off that list instead ofMaybe.

  21. All these QB threads we're seeing are pointless, imo.

The Bills were completely incapable of protecting the QB off the edges last year and with no significant upgrades will once again be completely incapable of protecting the QB off the edges this year. There's not a single QB on this planet who can be successful operating behind this Offensive Line and our crop of BList signal callers is no exception. I don't care who is anointed the starter because no matter which guy it is, he is going to struggle moving the offense until he is inevitably hurt and then replaced by the next guy who will be dealing with the same set of insurmountable circumstances.

The front office doesn't see any of these guys as a long term solution to the position, which is part of the reason they chose to primarily address the defense this offseason. Addressing the OT and TE positions will come in the next step of the rebuild when they will be looking for a QB that they can hang their hats on.

So we can go round and round arguing about who's the better QB, but the fact is that it doesn't matter one lick who the Bills starting QB is this year. Whoever it is will only be the #1 for a relatively short time, serving as no more than an interchangeable part until the Bills bring in the guy they plan to go forward with.

You have to be kidding me. Nix F'd up the team by not addressing the OL, QB, WR positions this year. Thre were plenty of free agents to help all these positions. They left the fans with vomit in their mouths this year and I have no confidence this organization knows how to fix it. Any idiot would know you can't go into the season with the worst tackles, worst QB in the NFL and be competitive. They could have had anquoin bouldin, jamal charles, jimmy clausen or mcnabb and been competitive, while they continued to rebuild, know why they didn't? MONEY-Too Cheap or too dumb, take your pick.

  22. Maybin appears to be taking the next step, I'll go with Maybin

Taking a step backwards maybe. What exactly are you looking at? I saw every play, in person, Friday night and he got absolutely manhandled. The only time he got close to the QB was his late hit that cost us a touchdown! If Maybe isn't doing something negative then he's doing nothing at ll. He looked undersized, weak and was blocked by a rookie tackle, tight end or RB every play. I think he jumped on a pile once but that was it. He took terrible pursuit angles.

    MAYBE SUCKS AGAIN THIS YEAR!

  23. Best player available,..... Thats the way to draft... Good job Buddy...Depth!!!

    Who knows,... Wally Pipp

What's your point? Because of an injury Nix is a genious? Bell and Simpson looked awefully good, I give him more credit for those players than Spiller at #9. Nix still did nothing for QB and OT's which would have helped us out more than another RB. Unless Spiller is the best RB in this draft class, grts OROY and plays for us into his next contract, he's still a luxury pick in my book.

  24. What part is true? That Hardy is the #2 receiver?

    PTR

How about 10 years no playoffs, terrible O-Line, inexperienced WR's, the Spiller pick, Toronto fiasco? Do you want more?

Not sure what articleyou read but he sums it up pretty accurately. We Suck!

Now am happy about that? Hell no. Do I love the BILLS? Hell yes. Can I read a negative media article, realize that our team has more holes than swiss cheese and not call the author names? Hell yes.

People 10 YEARS NO PLAYOFFS...That fact alone should validate this authors points. If we weren't a bad team, run poorly then we would have seen the post season in my sons lifetime. Will things change? Hope so. But for now stop killing writers and posters who are negative, when the Bills prove them wrong it'll be a sunny day, but for now the weather sucks in Buffalo.
