  1. As far as last season went, it could not have been more disheartening for anyone other than Roscoe Parrish. I think that's the thing I love about Gailey most, the fact that he recognizes talent and rewards the player with that talent who applies himself. I am so excited to see Roscoe finally being used in this offense. After the way the coaches treated him last season, I would have sworn they caught Roscoe stealing from their wallets and sleeping with their daughters. I really hope he shines this year. I for one will be wearing his jersey on opening day!

Stop with the "+". It's irritating. I read all the threads and don't need some pollyanna symbol to protect my eyes from negativity. This is the last time I will open anything with a "+" or "-"! If anybody else thinks this is childish speak up now.

  2. The guy is only 22, played one full season at the college level, and saw little playing time his first season due to his holdout.

Lets take a step back for a second and look at it like this: If we drafted Maybin this year (same spot) and this was his rookie season, given his preseason play thus far as a "rookie", how does he look?

I would say he looks pretty good for a "rookie" and has some potential. Even if a bulk of his time isn't against starters.

    Give the KID some time!!

Agreed. If he hasn't cracked the starting line-up by 2018 then I'll start to think we reached and got busted.

  3. This is not a knock against the board, actually its the opposite.....wonderful place to hang out.

I am going to tell you a little secret but this will change your attitude about your threads and comments!

    Are you ready?

I played for the Buffalo Bills 1967-1972. I read your comments and I now understand the fans better. Just a little warning here!

The players do frequent the message boards, and they do care what you write and yes I personally know 1 former player that posts here!!! Yep, it is true! If you investigate, you could easily figure it out! I did ! I PMed the guy and we now chat from time to time!

So why leave the board now? No player or former player is interested reading garbage about why a player should be waived or why he is overpaid. These are proud, proud former star college football players. The career is short, the physical burden is high and the players are just people. We all have emotions and nobody enjoys bashing! The Buffalo fans are the best but by far the most frustrated.

I will stop by from time to time and read some topics but my responding days are over.

Oh, and my prediction for 2010?

Some of you place to much importance in high skill players. The "team" will determine the final outcome.

Buffalo is better then most of you think and a playoff birth is not impossible!

I thought about placing my real name here, but most likely someone will say I sucked or I was just a good solid player.

Either way I will not be happy because football was my LIFE and still is!

So I ask the question and this is a good one.....

IF YOU WERE A FORMER PLAYER,WOULD YOU PLACE YOUR REAL NAME ON THIS BOARD? If you think about it very carefully, the answer is no way! Some will call this thread a hoax but that should be expected from fans in today's world! Everything is a hoax and everybody is a fraud, not always true guys! Some people are honest and until proven otherwise, learn to trust people!

Good luck on your threads, the season, and GO BILLS!!!

    -DIEHARD 1967

Wish you'd reconsider. I probably wouldn't post my name because I have thin skin. A current or former player who reads the board subjects himself to criticism. But they also played the game at a level no fan can relate to. I doubt there's anything said to or about a player on this board that they haven't heard before. "You sucked" for example has probably been said by a former coach, who really cares?

Anyway I hope you decide to stick around. It would be really nice to get your expert opinion about things. I think you should stay, not give your real name, so we can learn from you. If you leave, thanks for being here amongst the best, most frustrated sports fans in the world.

  4. Anyone else notice that he is watching his reciever the whole time? I don't think I saw him try to look off a defender once during the Cincy game. Preseason is one thing but when it means something he will be picked off so easily.

I am not a Trent supporter at all but....On the TD throw to Roscoe he first looked at Evans and another reciever in the end zone before hitting Roscoe coming across the middle. Now if I can remember that off the top of my head w/o reviewing film I have to question your basic premise.

  5. :w00t:

My main problem with Clayton and the rest of the clowns I mentioned, is that they always bash Buffalo (I didn't mention Edwards anywhere in my post). You can call it "homie glasses", "kool-aid" or whatever.

Since you want to bring up Edwards, let's look at the problem in Buffalo. In Buffalo's 50 year history, the Bills have only drafted 2 QB's that took the Bills to the playoffs: Ferguson & Kelly (if you really want to be technical, 3 if you want to throw Reich in there). Since Kelly, let's look at the QB's the Bills drafted: Todd Collins, wasn't even given a full season then was shown the door, that's nowhere near enough time to develop a QB. Not saying Collins would have been great for us, but he's still in the league and led the Foreskins to the playoffs a few years ago. J.P. Losman, thrown in the starting lineup too quickly when Bledsoe was still playing well. Then was taken in & out of the line-up with Holcomb, plus had numerous offensive coordinators and only 1 good WR in Evans after Moulds was traded. Edwards, same thing, numerous coordinators, plus last years disaster to start the season. Do you really consider Dick Jauron a good quarterback developer? Any QB in the league would have failed miserably under the conditions the Bills were in last year.

Even though it's Preseason, but there has been many noticeable improvements on this team, and idiots like the local Buffalo media and Clayton continue to bash the Bills. I can't wait until midseason and the Bills prove these idiots all wrong. And I'll keep enjoying my kool-aid while wearing my homie-glasses.

Good for you my friend, love it when Billievers get fired up. Clayton pegged Trent as the #31 best QB in an artile today. So when you mentioned Clayton I made an assumption. No need to school me in Bills history either, been following my team daily for over 30 years. I think we will get bashed by the media no matter what we do, even win the Superbowl. Nobody cares about the Bills except us fans. Don't get worked up when we get no respect, not worth it. Keep Billieving and someday we'll have the last laugh.

    OUT!

  6. Okay, they actually didn't say they that. But I'm sure if you were to ask Chan Gailey, he'd say: "If you dog one of us, you dog all of us".

Can Buffalo seriously get some better sports reporters than the negative nancy's that report for the team? First, WGR said it was gonna be the offense that was gonna be horrible, now it's defense and special teams. Plus, the two cry babies that write for the Buffalo news never have anything good to say about the Bills (Sullivan & DiCeasre - how ever that clown spells his name). Plus, bugged-eyed Clayton, has this geek even played a sport...ever? How did this dork ever make it to TV? IMO, ESPN has no credibility anymore. I think I watched 30 seconds of their draft coverage and switched it right back to the NFL network, it looked like a male version of "The View" instead of actual draft coverage.

For WGR, the Buffalo News & Uber-Geek Clayton, this video is for you: youtube.com/watch?v=QqolWUgxz7E&feature=related

OK Clayton is a douchbag. He looks like an alien pedophile. Trent Edwards ranking of #31 preseason is fine with me. He's shown nothing during his career and deserves to be right where he is. Who on that list is he better than? Good thing is I think Chan is working some magic with Trent and will coach him up alot more than anyone else has in his life. I think if Trent stays healthy he ends the year midpack, not the bottom. But for now that's where he deserves to be. Take off the homie glasses and put down the koolaid, you can't fault people for dogging Trent Edwards. Now it's up to him to prove people wrong, and I hope he does!

  7. Now that training camp is over and 75% of the preseason, the conversation at receiver is even more interesting. For purposes of rank, I will put Stevie ahead of Roscoe just because he plays on the outside opposite Lee. I personally think roscoe will put up bigger numbers.

    1 - Lee

    2 - Stevie

    3- Roscoe

    4 - David Nelson

    5- Chad Jackson

    6 - James Hardy

    7 - Roosevelt

    8 - Donald Jones

5-8 were tough. How would you rank them?

    1 Evans

    2 Parrish

    3 Nelson

    4 Johnson

    5 Jackson

    6 Hardy

    7 Roosevelt

    8 Jones

I would cut Hardy, Jones. Keep the local kid Roosevelt and give hime time to develop. Hardy has had his chance and showed nothing but the ability to stay injured, run bad routes, drop passes. I thought TO taught him something? Oh Yeah he did get a huge earring like TO's!

  8. Larry Csonka. Not that he was a jerk or anything like that because he wasn't. It's just that he could kill the Bills at will.

You gotta love his outdoor show "North to Alaska". He's an awesome guy, once he took off the uni.

I hated and still hate Deon Sanders. A complete retard off the field and hit like my sister. Cocky, self absorbed POS.

  9. Especially when we lost 2 running backs in one game already this year. Hopefully the FO learned the lesson.

While I am very much looking forward to seeing Spiller get carries, I want Lynch in the game for 3rd and 2. I want to see Fred Jackson start the game and take the initial tough carries, and especially be in the game on 3rd and long because I don't trust Spiller to pick up the blitz...yet.

My prediction: I bet there are a whole lot of plays, including wildcat sets and motions that set them up as WRs, with all 3 running backs in the game(Fred can throw, and so can Lynch), that we haven't seen yet. No point in putting them on tape in preseason. Never mind the fact that McIntyre has shown he can make a play when needed. Anybody remember the '88 Bengals 3 RB backfield? That was deadly...provided all 3 of them showed up and didn't miss the SB due to cocaine....

If you re saying Lynch is our best short yardage back, your mistaken. The stats don't support that. Jackson was as good or better in short yardage situations last year and neither ere very good. Brian on Rumblings provided some surprizing stats lat season on this topic. I would take Spiller over both of them in a 3rd and 2 play. He is faster, more elusive and has a better chance of picking up 2 yards, especially on the goal line where he already showed he can take a inside handoff and beat all defnders to the pylon. If you think because Lynch is bigger he's better that logic is faulty. Beastmode has shown tobe leastmode in short yardage during his career.

  10. I played but neither of those positions. Coaching I look for quickness and shiftiness and sure hands for PR. KR i like pure speed and ability to break tackles. PR needs to elude, KR needs to see seems and be able to get there before the seem closes. PR needs to get 10-15 yards. KR needs to be able to go the distance every time he touches it.

I am no pro and only coach pop warner but that my 2 cents.

  11. Bulldog solo with Sully at 5. Defense and special teams will doom us. Wants us to lose for #1 pick and QB in draft. So...because it's preseason nothing the Bills are doing on offense matters, but D and ST are proven as horrible.

    PTR

The special teams will improve once the starters are playing. The defense is changing schemes and will take some time to gel, we all knew that going in. It's no surprize they are terrible right now, scary how they still cannot stop the run game. We also aren't showing our hand, blitzing and adjusting until the games count, so we may improve there too. It's way too early to predict anything. The preseason has provided some promise that our offense is better than last year. We have to wait and see though. The thing that worries me the most is lack of talent and depth at OT.

  12. We should be pissed at the Bills for failing and refusing to add depth to their offensive line during the offseason. That's hardly a "crusade." Despite it being their weakest position by far, they drafted 2 offensive linemen. One of them they've already cut, and the other one looked significantly overmatched before getting injured. And the only FA addition of note, Cornell Green, has looked absolutely horrible.

We are one injury away from total, epic disaster along the front five. There is no depth whatsoever. Incredibly, they let two quality depth players (Incognito and Scott) walk away for no reason, and those two were promptly scooped up by far more competent organizations.

    Don't say I didn't warn you.

I agree 100%. My threads have been titled: "Lack of OT's Kills Bills Again" and "Worst Tackle Tandem in the NFL" . I have been saying since summer that Nix screwed this team for the year before it started by not addressing the biggest weakness on the offense. I get responses like "you cant fix everything" which is BS when there's no cap and we have a low payroll and don't have to pay Schoebels 8mil. No excuse for not shoring up our Oline this year. If CORNHOLE is the best we could do we deserve an "epic disaster" end to a promising season.

  13. We have a very tough schedule. We have a poor track record, new coach, new schemes etc so I can see why everybody in the media is down on us. 5 wins seems too low though. I hate to say but 7-9 is about right. That's fine with me because I am poised to buy my playoff tickets in 2011 when we go 11-5 in the reg season and go to the AFC title game. Superbowl and a win in 2012 or more accurately Feb of 2013! Been my prediction since the summer and am sticking to it.

  14. yes, and another thing i noticed, more positive observations, less negativity. You cant tell fans to put a + or - to distinguish their posts. These boards go with the flow of your team. When they are paying well there's more positive things to talk about and observe. when we suck the place up, for the better part of 10 years, negativity runs rampant because there's little the team is doing right. Since the Indy and Cincy games the amount of negativity has diminished, at least that's what I'm seeing and reading. The worst part of our offense is at TE and RT. The offense is exciting when they're scoring points, makes sense. Can't be exciting when you never score a TD or constantly settle for FG's. Spiller is exciting, so is Roscoe and Evans. It's also exciting when our D scores points. We are on the right track. Now lets figure how to stop the run/pass and win some games.

    Go Bills!

  15. I watched Moats at JMU a few times. He was a man against boys in college. He is an incredible athelete who needs a year to shine. He never played LB in his life, just a DE who rushed the passer. He would be better suited for a DE in a 4-3 IMO. But he's a fish out of water this year. I expected that he looked bad at LB but would contribute on special teams his first year. Unfortunately nobody looks good covering kicks so far. He needs a little time, next year he should contribute on defense once he learns the position.

  16. Guys listen up! Around the NFL the Bills are known to have one of the worst QB situations. You couldn't give one away. If they aren't good enough to make this roster, what makes you think anybody else would want them? How often is our practice squad plundered? We have the worst talent pool in the league. I think our practice squad players are safe.

  17. Do people just say this automatically? Or do they actually watch the game? Just because they are playing at the end of the 1st half or throughout the second half does not mean they are scrubs and are going to be cut. Give me a break.

Sure, Maybin got 2 sacks when starters were out. He also spun out of a double team and had a would be sack on O'Sullivan (intentional grounding) before the 1st half wound down. Lets collectively give him the credit he deserves and stop repeating overly generalized BS that demonstrates nothing other than you probably didn't watch the game.

Serious? Because a person has a different perspective than you they didn't watch the game rendering them ignorant to your observation. I watched Maybing personally at Penn State, in person in Buffalo, on tv this preseason and in person in Wash this preseason. So from a person who has watched him for seveal yeas, in person, I'll tell you this. Maybin looks terrible against first team NFL players, both in practice and against opponents. He only had 1 move in college and no counters, but was quick. This boded well for him in college, against inferior teams resulting in inflated stats.

I hated the Maybin pick and stand by it, he only looks good against 2nd-4th teamers. But I do see a little improvement. He is working on a counter move for the 1st time, put on a little size and has a good motor. He also didn't celebrate and showboat after his sack saturday. He may stil develop into the pass rusher he was supposed to be, and if he quits the premadonna act I'll give him some more time. I have used the BUST word to describe hm in the past, now I'm not so sure.

  18. Eric Wood and Chan Gailey are the hope we've been looking for for years. The way Eric brings the "Wood" to defenders reminds me of the old school days watching the Hogs F people up. Chan is a master of offense and old school coaching. He has basically the same players and is making the offense look good compared to last year. Now we need some Woods on defense, they look like a bunch of pansy's, still cannot slow down the run. I say we go back to the 4-3 with Troup and Williams inside, we are getting gouged for huge chuncks of yards.

  19. You must be too young to have lived through the 1984 and 1985 seasons. I remember the same sentiment back then but there is talent on the o-line be patient.

Ive been patient as a fan for over thirty years, extremely patient the past 11. Too young? Yeah right. I sat through the early 80's next to people with bags over their heads. I'm tired of being patient. You think our Oline is talented, keep drinking the kool aid buddy. We have very young guys with potential, misfit outcasts and practice squad plunders...If you call that talent we're speaking different languages!

  20. It's coaching more than anything and that's obvious. Jauron probably ruined Edwards with his unwillingness/inability to adjust, which led to Trent getting pummeled and losing his confidence. A lot of people like to think the BILLS don't have talent but coaching is the biggest difference between teams in the NFL and the team has been woefully lacking in that department, especially at the top.

You say that Trent lost his confidence over a few good hits...BS. Do you think a young Jim Kelly would lose confidence after a concussion? No way in hell. He would want to tear somebody's head off. Trent is a kitty, he never had "it" so how do you lose "it". This is Football, your gonna get rocked, especially a QB with a terrible line, but that's why they make tons of money. Quit making excuses for Trent, he's had more than his fair share of chances. Stop blaming the coaches and every other excuse you can come up with. He finally showed off his 1 testicle when he got hit in the Indy game, lost 1/2 of tooth and came back and threw a bomb to Evans. Now if his other nut will decend he may gain the "it" factor he's been missing.

I am amazed at how I just used the P _ _ _ y word to describe Trent and it turned into Kitty! Is somebody in my computer editing my vulgarity? I'm a little paranoid. Will my mouth suddenly taste soapy? I had no idea this site was policed, live and learn.
