I don't think a different OC or DC or head coach would have made any difference. The Bengals dominated every facet of that game. The Bills players couldn't run, catch, tackle, penetrate, cover, block, get open, nothing. They just stunk.

I'm pretty much 50-50 on this one; two great teams with stud QBs on long winning streaks - it is truly anyone's game. Can't wait to see it unfold!

The Niners remind me of the 'Skins in SB26. They came out of nowhere with an unsung quarterback to become a dominant team, for just that one year. Kinda gives me the willies.

If we're basing next week's expected result on style points, you could easily argue that the Bengals did not score very many against Baltimore last night. They needed a fluke big-man scoop-and-score to beat a backup QB. I think the Bills had a much better game overall.
Whatever, round one is over, round 2 is a clean slate for all.

It helps when the QB in question is willing to take the most team-friendly deal the NFLPA will allow (which is still a boatload of money). I think that's pretty much what Josh did. He could have easily demanded to be the highest paid QB in the league, but he didn't.
It seems like there are always about 7-8 QBs that qualify for that scenario, by virtue of being more or less irreplaceable. But even a 'team friendly' stud QB contract is going to be a crippler for some teams.

I think it's still too early to tell. He hasn't played a whole lot, mostly because he's in a really deep position group.

And it's not like McDermott only overcame incredible adversity - his team also kicked a bunch of arse all season long, which to me says he's doubly qualified for COY. I also would be perfectly happy to see him share it with Taylor, because you could say all the same things about him as well.

Call it a draw and move on. I know the Bills were losing on the scoreboard and, by all accounts, on the field as well. But you can't call a game after less than one quarter, and I don't see how they are going to fit this game in with only one week left in the regular season.
One could argue that the Bengals suffer more from a tie being called, but one could also argue that it's not Buffalo's fault the Bengals came into week 17 a game behind them in the conference race. It's also true that Cincy still clinches their division with a tie, so at least they have that going for them. Which is nice.

I don't think YAC yards are Diggs' strong suit. His tendency is to dink and dunk to juke his defender after the catch, rather than pick an angle, turn upfield, and hit the afterburners. Too much hesitation. Easy for me to say, though!

I don't consider it a bust if it was a bum pick to begin with. Stupid draft selections should be exempt from bust status.

Jets are starting to look like a lot of drought-era Bills teams. Great defense featuring some bona fide studs, whiffing on QB after QB in the draft, hovering a bit below .500, with just enough wins to finish out of the top-10 draft picks.

I am personally in favor of local announcers being shameless homers. Why the heck not? It's the home team, let them be homers! It's not like they have some journalistic responsibility to be objective. It's not the national news, it's a football game. Homerism adds flavor. I love it.

Forget about the details: The Bills deserved to win the first game, but they lost it. The Fins deserved to win the second game, but they lost it.
The battles were an even split, but at 11-3 with a playoff spot locked, the war is being won by the BILLS.

I don't think an average O-lineman coming off an achilles injury is going to make much of an impact. In fact, it's more likely he would be a liability for a while.

I didn't have a chance to watch any games this weekend, so I am seeing this for the first time. It didn't occur to me until I watched it a second time that the score was tied when they did that! WOW.

Very disheartening after all the investment in the DL this offseason. I honestly thought the depth players were better than this, but we just saw what happens when all the grown men on the D line are out. Rousseau/Oliver/Basham/Epenesa - all young guys who don't seem to have 'it'. Will any of these high draft picks ever be more than a solid rotational player? We confirmed tonight that it was Miller/Jones/Phillips carrying the line all year.
