Terry and Kim Pegula are completely clueless professional sports team owners.

Well you should thank your lucky stars for them or you wouldn't have any pro sports teams in Buffalo.  They are doing the best they can.  Both franchises were a complete mess.  Sabres look like they are going to be very competitive this year and I think you're jumping the gun on the Bills.  I think they'll need at least two more years before they are an elite team, but I do believe that management is taking the right approach.  You just need to have a little patience.  McDermott and Beane have been on the job less than two full seasons.

  2. Guess it's a good thing they don't work for you.  Knee jerk reactions by an owner lead to nothing but chaos within an organization.  These two have been on the job less than two seasons and I can see their intent.  The offense still needs to be fixed, but the D is just fine.  I completely disagree with your premise that this was a top notch offense at any point in time over the past 15 or so years.  They haven't had a decent QB since Kelly and the O-Line has been putrid for most of that time.  You can't fix all of the holes that this team had in this amount of time.  The team will be fine, you just need to have some patience.  I know that's in short supply around these parts, but I would give them two more years before even considering firing either McDermott or Beane.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who asked the television, "where the hell did he hurt his head?"

The phantom injury play is likely the last play for McCoy as a Bill.

I don't think he's got quit in him, so I'm more inclined to believe that the Bills are just protecting their future 3rd or 4th round pick.

One thing's for damn sure, though .... the whole "McCoy is in concussion protocol," thing is a bunch of crap.

He landed directly on his head.  Try banging your head against concrete and see how it feels.  That turf is no joke.  It's hard as a rock.

    1. GET TURNOVERS. The Patriots have turned the ball over 14x. Only 4 teams have turned it over more. With rain and cold temperatures expected, the Bills should feast on the Patriots sloppy offense.

    2. RUN THE BALL. The Patriots have struggled mightily to stop the run. Their 24th ranked run defense should allow the Bills to control the clock.

    1 + 2 = Win.

Before anyone goes crazy, ask yourselves if you thought the 0-2 Bills could win on the road at the Vikings. How did they do it? They won the turnover battle 3-0 and won the rushing game 128 yards to 14 yards. The Patriots are an ideal matchup for the Bills. They turn the ball over and they can't stop the run.

Originally thought this was a loss, but now believe the Bills win.

    Bills 20. Pats 17.

    Ummmmm NO.

  5. If you don't have the stomach to watch a rookie QB learn and grow, then you probably shouldn't be watching.  All rookies struggle and make mistakes.  Allen will be a very good QB in this league for a very long time.  This team ain't gonna win the SB this year anyway, so let's just have a little patience with him and see what he can become.

  6. Allen needs to play if he's able.  Sitting him serves no purpose.  He'll learn from game experience, not sitting on the bench.  He'll get better.  The fact is, the entire offense has been bad, not just Allen.  He needs some support from the O-Line and receivers.  Both have been abysmal.  Benjamin is an absolute joke.  Will be glad to see him go because he just doesn't seem to give a ****.  I say if Allen is healthy enough, he continues to start.

So I've waited until the new week to start any threads. Didn't want to come on and say "told you so," as I've been posting about our line, QB group, and glaring issues all off season but was dismissed time & time again as just being negative.

But there's one thing I've been optimistic about, that I knew in the back of my head was just the homer in me...Our organization's ability to develop a QB. I believed this coaching staff would finally do right, and end our ineptitiude since Jim Kelly. Evidence points to the contrary however, and it's definitely a huge concern.

This staff just last week was confident & had faith in Peterman as the starter. They watched him for a full NFL season, and another off season, and believed this guy was a worthy NFL QB. Half way through game 1, they already pulled him and threw the rookie in who they clearly didn't want to start. Now he's the starter going in to game 2 because it's "what's best for the franchise" (he only made that point clear a million times). But how can we have faith he has any idea what's best for the franchise? Not even 5 days ago Peterman was what he thought was best for the franchise. Last season he thought benching Taylor, then yanking his replacement (again in 1 half) & throwing Taylor back in was what was best! He thought signing McCarron, then trading him & running with 2 inexperienced QB's as our group was what was best for the franchise.

Yeah, why would we ever need McCarron when we got these 2 studs here locking down the fort? You already exhausted & killed any hope one of your 2 options was ever going to succeed, and with 15 games left you're already down to your last hope....the raw, project, "potential," QB who fights to hit 50% of his passes in high school & college, against Mountain West competition, and hasn't done anything in his football career, and now is asked to suddenly do things he's NEVER been able to do but against the best competition in the world!!?

I like McDermott. I think he's a good coach. I think he's a good leader. But he's shown he's already thrown up too many red flags to say he knows how to develop a QB properly, or even knows how to identify a good QB in the first place. Having a veteran on the team for the rookie to learn from & to lead your young group would've been the most obvious, easy thing to do to at least help learn the ropes & to mentor these guys, but we didn't even do that!

All this while setting these 2 guys up with what's likely to be the worst offense in the NFL... A line that fans wanted to pretend would somehow just become good with the loss of its best players (great logic), and by having one of the most mediocre WR corps around...these 2 QB's are setup to fail no matter what they do. And with this schedule? Ravens, Chargers, Vikings to start the season? Yeah, don't worry...those defenses will surely be nice warmups for these guys -_-

And yes, a QB getting smashed to oblivion can ruin their career & shot at ever becoming decent. David Carr was shell shocked, and took a record amount of sacks his rookie year. Allen isn't going to fare much better, and it's not his fault. The guy can't help but do what the coaches tell him, and he can't develop in conditions that aren't conducive to his success. He wasn't close to pro ready, and now he's being thrown to the wolves. Way to go McBeane... I didn't expect a winning season. I didn't expect a playoff repeat. But I DID expect you to handle this situation with respect to the position & process, rather than attempting to systematically make every bad decision that has historically ruined QB's careers.

We made the playoffs in his first year.  We've played one game this season.  Peterman was the choice because he played well in the preseason.  They wanted to give Allen a bit more time to develop.  It didn't work out.  Peterman is one of those guys that looks good in exhibition games and in practce, but once it's game on for real, he panics.  None of these things indicates that McDermott or anyone else on the coaching staff is deficient.  It's Peterman who is deficient and I think they know that now.  Allen was always going to be the starter.  It was just a matter of time.  You don't trade up to number 7 to get a guy and then sit him on the bench.  Peterman just couldn't hold down the fort until they were ready to start Allen.  Simple as that.

I understand all of the arguments for and against starting Allen. I understand wanting to get him experience, but also avoid starting him for sake of his mental stability behind this awful line. What I don't understand is how its all actually gone down with this coaching staff.

How can you come to the conclusion, after months of training camp, practices and pre-season that you want to start Peterman, and then after 1 half change your mind? How could an NFL coaching staff paid millions of dollars be so wrong about the analysis of how it was going to go. Of course the line will be awful when 3/5 (or arguably 2/5) of your has retired/been traded and yet nothing has been done to remedy. They had to have known "this is going to be bad". Now, if they made the decision off the get go to say, "let's see what Allen can do with this" I'm all for it. But they didn't - they clearly had a plan to protect him. Now, as a knee jerk reaction they change their mind? I'm sorry but that just speaks volumes of poor planning and being completely overwhelmed.

McDermott and company stumbled into the playoffs last year and I really don't think they'll experience that "success" again.

The plan was to ease Allen into the starting role.  They were hoping Peterman could be a placeholder until later on this season, but Allen was ALWAYS going to be the starter.  You don't trade up to number 7 to get a guy and then sit him.  Peterman looked good in training camp and in pre-season, but once again, failed miserably when it counted.  Some guys are just good practice players, but can't handle the pressure when it's game on for real.  Peterman appears to be one of those.  At this point they seem to realize that Peterman is not capable of holding down the fort.  It's really that simple IMO.  Doesn't indicate any flaws with the coaching staff.  The flaw is with Peterman.

I’m hoping any discussions on this are for not brining Taylor back here.  Had no problem with the move even today.  I wonder though if there was a solid plan in place going forward after replacing him.  The whole acquiring and then trading AJ struck me as just being very wishy washy and didn’t make sense.

Not against Allen but I often wonder if that was a last second decision contrary to what OBD says.

They got McCarron as insurance.  No guarantee they were going to get their guy in the draft.  My guess is that if he didn't get hurt, he would have started yesterday.  He got hurt, fell behind and they decided to cut bait and get something for him.  I think the plan after that was to start Peterman and if he struggled, bring in Allen, just as they did yesterday.  I just don't think they believed Peterman would struggle as badly as he did yesterday and they were hoping to get a couple of games out of him before bringing in Allen.  I believe Allen is the starter moving forward now.  Just my two cents worth.
