Here is the negative take on today's win. With how Barkley played, which I would call competent, what does that say about McD and/ Beane?

In a way it shows how bad Peterman is. How bad D Anderson, even though better than Peterman is. How not ready Josh Allen is.

Barkley is how AJM could have been or many other competent NFL QB's. Instead they felt Peterman was the best option and then a not ready Allen, then Peterman again and Anderson and Peterman again. Seriously? I know its naive at times to think we know more then the pros. But just about anyone but McD and Beane saw that Peterman was not a competent QB. He should not be in the NFL.

Nice win today I guess. BUt it does not give me faith or confidence in McBeane team to lead this team onto the next level.

Again, you have no idea who they may have tried to sign.  They wound up with McCarron, he got hurt.   Anderson wasn't sure he wanted to come back and Barkley was with the Bengals, then injured.   It's not that they over valued Peterman, they just wanted him to hang in for a few games until Allen was ready.  It ddn't work out.  I for one am enjoying today's win and that's really all I care about right now.

It’s a nice win, feels good to have one. Did many good things, but also something interesting came to light I think. This is not a tank and it never was. A QB came right off the street, limited playbook and played a competent game. Easy opponent sure, but competent nonetheless. Blaming the talent holds a little less weight now

To me it’s proof that they were attempting to win all along and honestly believed, first that Mccarron couldn’t, then that Peterman could, then Anderson. Didn’t see fit to retain or acquire a true no 2 QB behind Allen at a minimum. Not because they weren’t trying to win, but because they honestly thought they had one. So I still worry about how they will handle the rest of the offense. Cross your fingers

You have no idea who they tried to sign and didn't.  BTW Barkley was injured and Anderson wasn't sure he wanted to come back. Neither of them was available during the offseason. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your negativity.  Just enjoy the win, will ya.

Last year the line was good and we had LeSean McCoy and McDermott still opted to punt on 4th and short in opposition territory 90% of the time.

What you're saying isn't in touch with what this coach has demonstrated numerous times over the past 26 games.

You're going to have to do better than that.  Show me the stats of how many times he did this and what the game situations were, what was the score?  what quarter was the game in?  Every single coach in the NFL has done exactly what you are complaining about at some point, depending on the game situation.  If you're looking for a coach who will never punt on 4th and short on the other side of the fifty yard line, good luck with that.  You will NEVER find one.

Yet they were a QB and maybe a WR away from a divisional round playoff game just last season. Way to go, McBeane. Bravo!

Did they win that playoff game?  Must have missed it.  And they were way more than one WR and a QB away from competing for a SB, but since you're the one that brought it up, one has already been addressed and I expect WR will be as well.  Having said that, with this OL, it wouldn't matter much who is playing those two positions.

The team isn't competitive because the GM and HC have made the team non competitive.

We have the worst offense in the history of the NFL adjusting for era.

This has been a colossal failure and there's nothing that suggests these guys are going to get this team going in the right direction anytime soon.

BS.  This team was not competitive way before Beane or McDermott were hired.  They are building a team and that takes time.  This team has had so many losing seasons over the past few years, losing games this year means absolutely nothing.  They still have lots of draft picks this coming off season and I'm sure the offense will be addressed.  The D already is pretty good.

I couldn't care less about making the playoffs. I care about having a GM, Coach and players who can win a Super Bowl, and right now there's nothing that suggests we have any of those things.

Our coach loves to punt on 4th and short in opposition territory. He does it pretty much every opportunity he gets.

That's all you need to know about Sean McDermott's philosophy to coaching. That's not something any of Bill Belicick, Andy Reid, Sean McVay or Sean Payton do.

Did you really think this team was going to win the SB this year?  And do you really think this team could get there in Beane/McDermott's second year on the job.  First really for Beane since he was hired after last year's draft.  If so, it's no wonder that you're disappointed.  I know patience is in short supply on this site, but c'mon man.  This team had way too many holes to compete for a championship.  I know it's frustrating to lose, but this team is nowhere near good enough to compete for a championshop regardless of who the coach and GM are.

  7. Not giving up on him just yet.  Would like to see what they do on the offenisve side of the ball this offseason and how that translates to success next year.  This year has been pretty ugly, but not blaming it all on McDermott and staff.  It would have been impossible to fix all that was wrong with both sides of the ball after the Rex Ryan debacle.  The D looks like it's headed in the right direction.  Let's see if they can fix the O next year.  If he can't get it done next year, then I'm out, but I'm willing to wait and see.  We've lost so many games over the past few years, losses, even blowout losses no longer concern me.  I wanna see some progress on building a competitive team and IMO that's gonna take another year.

He should have been cut after the ravens game. He shouldn’t have even been a choice to play for

    this team again

Easy for you to say.  There was nobody to backup Andersen.  You can't just sign someone off the street and suit them up.  They need time to learn the offense.  This isn't fantasy football.  Peterman will be gone soon enough, but right now he's the only option.

In the 24 games since McDermott got here... we have started the following QBs:

    Tyrod Taylor - 14 Games

Nathan Peterman - 5 Games (after this week)

    Josh Allen - 3 Games

    Derek Anderson - 2 Games

Joe Webb - 0 Games (Played in 1)

    AJ McCarron - 0 Games

    Matt Barkley - 0 Games

Nothing that hasn't been stated already, but this is downright unbelievable.

IN what way is it unbelievable?  The only one I have doubts about is Peterman.  They should have replaced him a long time ago so that we wouldn't be in the situation we are this week.  Other than that, the other three make perfect sense based on the situation at the time.
