I believe the Bills will probably break fans heart with the 12th pick and it will be the right decision.  After being unable to trade up to get one of the top 3 QBs the Bills will settle on a positional player instead of reaching for the next EJ Manuel.  That player will be Denzel Ward.  If you don't know him, he is a CB  and an athletic freak.  He was an All American for Ohio State last year and by drafting him the Bills will have the best 2 CB combo in the league.  I hope they are able to trade up to get the QB, but when they can't this will happen.

Did you forget about Vontae Davis.  No way the Bills pick a CB in round one.

  2. I believe that now that they have made the playoffs in the first year, the focus becomes advancing further in the playoffs until eventually we win a SB.  If they can continue to build the roster while still making it a bit further in the playoffs each year, then this will be the criteria for success.

I don't know anything about these players, but some fellas who seem to know what they are talking about have classified them as poor players.  What I meant by desperation, however, was not that it was a move of desperation by OBD, but that a team only plays subpar players when forced to; desperate in that sense.  I am fine with signing average players with experience.

Gotcha and that makes sense.  On another note,  Marvin Lewis had nothing but good things to say about Bodine.  We'll see how it all shakes out, but I like adding veteran depth to the OL.

Don't you know McBeane is god and they have all the answers and we are just pathetic fans who's opinion is laughable compared to the utter brilliance of McBeane?

If you hate our coach and GM so much, what exactly are you a fan of?  I don't remember anyone saying these guys were perfect.  We know that they're not.  The question is do they have the Bills headed in the right direction?  I believe the answer to that question is a resounding yes.

McCarron has had four years to challenge Andy Dalton in Cincinnati, and there has never been talk of a real competition. A fifth round draft pick-- with obvious limitations who will never be mistaken for a franchise guy (or even a true starter).

If McCarron starts, it will either be because the rookie needs time, or the Bills were unable to get the guy they want.

McCarron will be the starter this season.  I guarantee it unless he gets hurt.  They signed him to start this year and be the QB2 next year.

We already know that AJ  McCarron is not an NFL starting QB , because starting/franchise QB’s do not make it past the 3rd overall pick !!

Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but if not you've got to know that this statement is blatantly false.  I could name you a dozen franchise QB's who ended up being the best in their franchise's history that were drafted after #3 overall.

I think McBeane did Tyrod right by trading him.  I think Cleveland intends on not playing their rookie QB this year and wants Tyrod to instill a winning culture on the field.  I think Bills will be playing their rookie QB sooner.

McCarron will be the opening day starter.  Whoever they draft will have some time to develop and learn how to be a QB in the NFL.

I am thinking that all the shrill demands to move up to the top 3 are panic driven.  We could just stay at #12 and see what comes to us.   Moving to #2 would cost us at least:

#12 and #22 in the first round ,

#21 in the second round   (56 overall)

#1 in the third round  (65th overall)

leaving us with #2 in the first round,    overall #56 in the second round,   and #96 overall in the third round.  That is not very much to rebuild the offensive line, the wide receivers and the linebackers.

If we stay at #12 we would have 5 picks in the first three rounds:  overall #22,   #53,   #56,   #54  &  #96.    That is enough to rebuild these positions.  Realize that 5-6 high draft pick veteran QB;s have been picked up by other teams this year, so a few teams are probably not going to picking QB's before us.   Even in the first round, QB's are still a crap-shoot.  I think that it is a wiser strategy to be sure of restocking the weak positions and also taking a slightly less good shot at a QB.

I don't think it would cost that much.  The two firsts and  second round pick should get us into the top 5.  If not, stay put and take what you get at 12.

The Bills had major issues with their WR corps last year yet there has been no wiff of activity to improve this group so far.  The actions suggest that the Bills are comfortable with what they have.  Perhaps a draft pick or two adds to the group but it is rare that a draftee contributes in a big way their first year.  With all of the buzz around QB somebody has to be available on the other end of the throw.

Have you heard of Kelvin Benjamin?  They will also draft at least one WR.  Remember this is still a run first team.  Relax man. This team made the playoffs last year and their D Line will be much better with Lotulelei and Murphy.  They will address the WR position.  Yesterday was the first day of FA and btw there don't appear to be to many starting WR on the FA market.

putting time and thought it on these guys is like obsessing about the third string outside linebacker.  If this guy affects how the bills do this year, we're  done for the year

One of them will most likely be our starter this year, so putting time and thought into them is speculation about who our QB will be to start 2018.  NOt even remotely the same as "obsessing about the third string outside linebacker."

I will be surprised if the Bills are very interested in any of the FA QBs unless they can get them cheap.

I think that beyond Cousins they are all reaches.

Guarantee the Bills will sign a FA QB.  And he will be the starter this year.  They will also draft one and groom him for 2019 and beyond.

End of the day it was great season and that the Bills made the playoffs,  anyone looking at this current roster can see the writing on the wall.  Only one very good player under the age of 25 on this team and loads of positions that need upgrades.  This includes

    - Bills need a QB and this should be top priority this offseason

    - Shaddy is 30 and we have no depth behind him

    - Losing Wood hurts offensive line,  Incognito is 34 years old

    - Kyle was our best DL and may retire,

    - One of the worst WR groups in the NFL

    - LB position needs upgrading at all 3 spots

    - The Bills only true very good player under 25 is our rookie  Tre White,  they do have very good safety play

You could argue that other Bills teams had more talent and never made the playoffs then this team,  either way there is lots to do and it all starts with the QB.  My fear is the Bills will be afraid to trade up to get the best QB then can because they have so many holes to fill on this roster.  Everyone knows it starts and ends with the QB

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.  Typical TBD optimism.  I love it.  The team made the playoffs.  How about we build on that instead of "rebuilding".  I contend that with a real QB this team may have gone to the SB this year.  We are very close.  Now is not the time to rebuild.

-We will get a decent QB either in FA, trade or the draft

-Shady still has plenty left in the tank

-Groy will replace Wood and Incognito will be fine for at least another year.

-If Kyle retires, then we draft a DT, problem solved

-Kelvin Benjamin when healthy is one of the best WR in the game, Jordan Mathews is also very good when healthy.  Both were injured all year and Zay Jones will be in his second year and should be improved as well, so not as bad a group as you think

-LB can be had both in the draft and FA and I don't think we need to upgrade all three positions

-Tre White was an All Pro calibre player and so you need another CB, as you say, safety position looks good

None of this points to a rebuild, just a need for some depth.
