The Eagles have managed to win a Super Bowl, retool their roster, make splash move after splash move, and get to another SB with a different QB all in the same time as Josh, Diggs and Von while having an all-around more talented roster.

We are led by the Ghosts of the 2015 Panthers who want to have 9 DL depth players and force Josh to make magic happen throwing to Devin Funchess 2.0 and Ted Ginn Jr.

The expectations should be higher. Beane would be a goner the way he wastes top end picks if he didn’t knock the Josh pick out of the park

And lost to the chiefs... imagine if they had to go through the chiefs in their conference.

Yeah I don't want to trade down again. Stick and pick the best WR on your board. We don't need more picks. If anything we need to part with some of our day three picks. No way we are making four picks in R5. I expect us to draft two players by #55, pick another player in the mid-80s(ish), and ultimately make something like four total picks on day three. Last year we picked 6 players so picking 7 this year sounds about right, and we have 10 total picks to use to move up the board and make sure we get guys that we like.

There are 4 WRs I still am comfortable with.  McConkey, Franklin, Coleman, and Mitchell.  Therefore I could tolerate another trade back to 36 and still guarantee to get one of the guys I am happy with.

  3. Here is some catharsis for those of you fearing Worthy: (I liked Worthy but came across these during draft season)

    Here is another:

I really like Worthy as a prospect but for now I will choose to focus on these highlights lol

someone here pointed out tho, that even though the Bills had no more first round grades on anyone and that’s why they’re back, it still could be that maybe Worthy or Legette or Pearsal (kind of a joke) were our next 3 WRs on board and now we don’t have an opportunity to pick one of them. In his presser last night Beane did say he expected to pick at 32 after the trade. So what changed? 3 guys at a position of need were now gone and we went with another trade back because of it. Which is fine imo. UNLESS….. you covet having the first round pick on someone for the 5th round option. And let’s be real about that here it isn’t huge advantage, especially on a position like WR, to get them for that extra year before they need to renegotiate a contract worth 20-30m.

But I really was trying to say that I don’t feel terrible about what happened, I have positives and negatives for what happened. I hope they use those picks and move around today like Kevin Costner in draft day. Making it all worth it.

To the bolded: I think they only traded down because there were so many guys in the next tier which is why they only slid down a few picks at a time.  If they had 5 guys they liked at 28 trading to 32 guarantees they get someone they like still.  If none of them were Legette, it isn't a problem to move down another spot and so on.

Mitchell, McConkey, Dejean, Newton, Coleman, and Franklin could all still be realistic targets and allow them to move down a few more spots if those are indeed their guys just as an example.

  5. We ran 2 community mocks with TSW drafting for the Bills.  At both times we came to 28 AD Mitchell was the runaway winner WITH worthy on the board.  Nobody on TSW wanted him with Mitchell still available.

Legette finished in 2nd place in both of them however when we removed AD Mitchell in v2.0 the board overwhelmingly voted for trading all the way down to 40!

I really liked Worthy as a prospect but it is clear the Bills didn't.  Add me into the group that says if they weren't taking Worthy, it is better to trade down and get some value rather than hold tight and the Chiefs still get Worthy.

Spare me the "they gift wrapped Worthy to the Chiefs" stuff too.  There were 27 other teams that also "gift wrapped" if you want to talk about him being available for the Chiefs.

    My Steeler insider is saying:

    1. Steelers - going tackle, which I've mentioned a few times

    2. Bills - not sure I trust him on this, but he's hearing Keon Coleman

this would lineup with what Bryan Broaddus just said he is hearing from front offices around the league...BJT is the slider because of shoulder, hip and off the field issues.

Keon colemans comp is kelvin benjamin so beane will draft him again lol

I’ve said this before, but I’d rather sit in a Bills draft room than attend a Bills Super Bowl. I’ve done that once, but I’ve never sniffed a war room.

Super Bowl would be more stressful than fun lol.

I'm with you.  I would even settle for seeing boards like 10 years later.  I wish teams would release them like the jfk stuff after a regime is no longer there, release the info!

This is surprising!  Odunze and Williams seem to have this whole bromance going.  On the other hand with only 4 picks it makes a lot of sense.  Man I love the draft lol.

You know, i was the biggest supporter of just letting the board fall to us and see what's left, but i'm leaning towards swinging for the fences this year. I mean, what we've been doing hasn't been working to get us over the hump, so let's try something different.

Here's what i'm thinking.......i think i would rather swing for the fences or swing for that homerun and have a miss, than not swing at all or just go after middle of the road, mediocre and take no step forward in the team's progression.

Stagnant is stagnant, no matter how you cut it.

We gotta elevate this team to the next level and that's why i'm kind of leaning a little more to making a splash this draft.

I don't think its an either or proposition. It really comes down to the talent evaluation and player development. I am 100% in agreement that the Bills reason for failing is not enough difference makers so I am not against trading up and going all in, however I also don't hate the idea of trading back and throwing a bunch of darts at the board.  I would love to get one of the top 3 but if we could get 2 of the next 7 or so guys I would also be very happy.

Is it better to have 1 of Odunze, MHJ (unrealistic), Nabers,  or have 2 of Worthy, Mitchell, Legette, McConkey, Coleman, Franklin, and Pearsall?  I honestly don't know.

I purposely left off BTJ as I think he is in his own category.  Won't have to sell the farm to get him but also he has a chance to be a difference maker by himself.  I also can't shake Nabers on a live stream saying BTJ is going to the Bills.  I am starting to think he will be the guy in a small trade up.

Too bad the fastest guy in combine history doesn’t translate to the field and play like the fastest player in history.  Too much is being made about his straight line speed in shorts IMHO.  Actual game day speed is made up of more than a forty time.  Meanwhile he only caught 6 of the 23 deep ball targets and only caught 5 of his 21 contested catch targets.  40% of his snaps were in slot, and 21% of his targets were screens.

Worthy is going to get over drafted and most likely be a complimentary piece somewhere than a lead dog.

I like Worthy and do understand the concerns.  However sharing the field with another 1st round and traditional x in AD Mitchell, Worthy was the leading receiver.  Also Ewers is not a great deep ball thrower.

At this point there are so many wrs I see the good and the bad with.  I just hope they draft a wr and don't get cute lol.

  11. With the last and final pick of round 1 at 32 the KC Chiefs select Nate Wiggins CB Clemson.

He will slip right in and replace L'Jarius Sneed. Although Newton is rated higher, I think him playing the same position as Chris Jones leads me to my pick.

As the best man-coverage cornerback in this draft class, Wiggins is a perfect fit for Kansas City. It’s true: he doesn’t have the size that most Chiefs cornerbacks have — but neither did Trent McDuffie. While McDuffie has more weight and density, Wiggins is longer — and should profile better as an outside cornerback. And like McDuffie, Wiggins’s film shows an unexpected level of physicality and strength.

I don't see how Marvin Harrison Jr. is just as great as his old man, the OG Marvin Harrison. Shaking my head. I don't get it. I have never seen the son surpassing the father WHEN the father is already top tier. The son would be lucky just to be in the same tier as his dad.

I don't care how these scouts and Youtubers are selling MHJ. I rather have Nabers, too.

    Archie and peyton manning?

    Clay and clay mathews?

Only 2 I can think of.

Yes that's why I root for my team. So 1 guy can maybe be good enough to be in the HOF. Definitely not first ballot without a Superbowl though

Keep buying those lottery tickets. I'll stick with my 401k

I remember how much you hated the idea of Allen being the pick.  So much you threatened to quit being a fan of the team if he was the selection.

Yet here you are.  With that profile pic to boot.

You're not doing it because you said speed speed speed and it's UTTERLY false. The best WR's in this league other than ONE don't run below a 4.4

Your speed claim is inaccurate. I didn't even talk about Worthy at all in my previous post. Again, what did you think of Quentin Johnstone coming out of TCU?

Why do you keep bringing up johnston? Hes 6'4 and ran in the 4.5s.  He and worthy are completely opposite style receivers.

As @dave mcbride points out, the data and analytics today are light years beyond what they were even a decade ago. The draft bust rate would speak to that too. Teams hit at a much higher percentage in 2024 than they did even in 2014.

I agree data and analytics are light years ahead which is why I will trust the process lol.  If Beane believes a trade way up is the best option I will believe they weighed all their options and determined this was the best course of action.
