  1. True. Walter Jones never had a problem missing training camp and dominating from start to finish.
  2. You must be the "buying public" to which PushthePile referred.
  3. Which would explain the charge for the pot. Most of us have a problem with the inconsistency shown by the Commish. The aforementioned Brandon Marshall got his suspension reduced to 1 game from 3, messed-up again, and this was allegedly the reason Goodell decided to not reduce Lynch's suspension. Yet Marshall didn't get suspended for being arrested again. WTF is that? So it's less of not having anyone else to blame, than having an inconsistent and frankly stupid Commish making whatever rules he wants. Maybe TO was right that Goodell needs to sit in jail himself to get some perspective in life?
  4. "Reeking of weed?" Who in California doesn't? Not that there's any truth to claim by the cops. I've heard that over there, that's replaced the busted (by the cop) tail light excuse since every does it and no one really cares. If they didn't find that WMD in his trunk, and Lynch ready to kill someone, we never would have heard about any of this.
  5. Most likely, there isn't. PushthePile's "it was for the buying public" was probably the closest to the truth, as sad as that may be.
  6. Other than Lynch's gun being in a locked box in the trunk of his car, it's the same case. NOT! Yes it's because Burress' gun went off, while he had it on him, in a crowded club. He's lucky he's not facing manslaughter charges. Then again, he could argue that the vic wandered into his path and serve 30 days.
  7. No, but at least I have an excuse. WRT the plot, they could go any number of directions. But the Company setting-up shop would be boring and was already done. I'd rather see how the Alien race started and got onto that ship.
  8. True, but can you play OT in the NFL?
  9. And yet Donte Stallworth is a free man. Makes a lot of sense.
  10. Shouldn't we be feeding "our own" first, before we provide them health care? You intimated that you die without health insurance (versus auto insurance). Well, you really die without food. When's the free food coming? Or shelter? Shouldn't everyone have a place to live, because again, without shelter, you die. When's the free housing coming?
  11. Alien is also one of my faves. I saw it when I was 9-1/2. Messed me up but good for years! I would suspect the movie has to do with how that alien ship got on Acheron and what happened to the crew, and then the Company somehow finding out about it. Edit: Just read your link SD, and I guess great minds think alike!
  12. Yes, Peters was instead at home working on his clothing line and not learning his playbook, and then when he did show up, gave a half-hearted and poor effort on the field instead. It's amazing the Bills did jump at the chance to offer him $10M/year.
  13. I used to be a member of the Jason Peters fan club as well. Then I grew to despise him as his holdout lasted almost into the season, and then with his poor play, and then finally with his pathetic excuse for a PC with the Eagles. So unlike you, I don't hide my true feelings for him.
  14. Marshall gets arrested earlier this year for beating-up his girlfriend, but Goodell does nothing. Instead he sends a message to Lynch, about how he messed-up with Marshall last year. Sheer brilliance.
  15. I never said the history of the NFL. The NFL's dominance to which I was referring has come within the past 2 decades, which well-predated the "personal conduct policy."
  16. Actually, all US citizens should take proper care of themselves first and foremost. That would solve a LOT more problems than 1,000 page health care overhauls.
  17. I wasn't talking about the ways people don't take care of themselves to justify insurance rates. Just to say that...people don't take care of themselves, period. Why should I have to pay for someone else's lack of self-control? As for the hockey, one of my co-workers has had multiple knee and shoulder surgeries as a result of playing hockey, missed quite a bit of time, and put a strain on us. Yet the first thing he does when he gets the doc's okay is...play hockey. But neither is he asking for free health care.
  18. Has it changed? Sure, 9/11 changed everything. Has the world become more violent or have race relations changed in the past decade or more? Not really.
  19. What was Graham's take on Goodell's Vick ruling?
  20. Funny how the league grew to dominance without the pathetically failing "personal conduct policy" and all those successful "sit downs."
  21. When you have people born and raised in Buffalo leaving in droves...
  22. Apparently, it's whichever is convenient. "Whitey" is afraid of guns, so any incident involving a gun, no matter how trivial, needs to be punished by Goodell, otherwise the "thug" will never get the message. And it's worked SO well so far. Oh and PTP, Plaxico took his gun out to a nightclub and shot himself in the leg while Marshawn had a gun locked in a box in the trunk of his car. But otherwise both cases are totally the same. What do you figure Burress will get for a suspension, once he does his time? What do you think Pierce will get for trying to dispose of the gun? What should they get, based on what Joe Q. Public football-watcher thinks?
