The New stadium must be a dome
jethro_tull replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are only EIGHT GAMES A YEAR! Let football be football for God sakes! Even the NHL thinks playing hockey open air is special. Domes are for basketball, roller derby and arena football! -
I am drinking the Whaley Kool aid and it is gooood!
jethro_tull replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
everyone thinks ej is injury prone but in reality when a db comes full bore shoulder to the knee what else is going to happen? it also seems like that one injury never fully healed either and thus the off season surgery. in other words he isn't necessarily fragile but learning to be more caustious / protective is not a bad idea. -
Joining in this community and wishing JK and family all the best thoughts and prayers for recovery and strength. Without question my number one sports hero of all time and yet such a mixed blessing life. The good Lord never promised a smooth journey whan you choose to walk with him, yet does promise a time when all tears will cease to be. My dad just had very successful kidney and lymph node treatment at Roswell and swears by that place and the professionals thet work there.. I don't understand why Jim doesn't check them out. Aren't they the best in the world? Man this really sucks. I hope by God that Jim can make it to Andre's induction ceremony. I am choking up already just thinking about it. God bless.

Bills hire Jim Schwartz DC, Todd Downing QB coach
jethro_tull replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed jabber! The best thing about this hire IMHO is what this says about the Bills organization- whoever took the lead here (Marrone?) is operating proactively and professionally and decisively. No mumbling bumbling botched prolonged searches that we saw the Bills do many times in their history. This hire was an act of confidence and decisiveness. Way to go Bills! -
Yeah but unfortunately Byrd and Glimore play in the BACKFIELD. How on God's green earth does this mean that the defensive line is not as bad as the OP suggests? Jabber, I think the post mentioning you as the next Jerry Sullivan is quite a complement. While I won't go quite that far, it is refreshing to see a more realistic point of view on this site. Opinions that aren't so clouded by rose colored fan vision. There is absolutely no doubt that the defensive line completely underachieved during Sunday's game. Sure they looked a little better than last year's defense, and the schemes allowed more pressure on Brady than I've seen in a while. But they just did not get it done when it counted, notably against the run- but especially during the Partiots last and game winning (unfortunately) drive. The players on this defensive line, if they truly lived up to their hype, billing, paycheck and draft class, SHOULD HAVE EATEN BRADY FOR FRIGGIN LUNCH ALL DAM DAY LONG and WON THE GAME by stopping them when we needed them to!

no. 1 on the list- poor offensive line runblocking. very few lanes were created and virtually zero downfield penetration.

I'm afraid Chan was right about Spiller
jethro_tull replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
very astute observation. the bills line had very little success opening lanes. freddy is better at making his own gap but once through the line there was nothing. having the plays somewhat telegraphed did not help either. however, a lane is a lane and they were few and far between. downfield penetration by the bills o-line was nearly non-existent. basically a failing grade on OL run blocking today. -
Vikings @ Bills official GDT

very nice drive on the time delayed NFLN . good coaching makes our third stringers play better than last season's starters. i'm watching the game last week wondering who the heck they're going to cut? -

Cool photos of Buffalo from 1910s and 1920s
jethro_tull replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Have had this opinion for years. They did it right in Chicago and it paid huge dividends. I believe the outlook in Buffalo / WNY is bright but it is going to take generations to fix. Seems to be already underway. Once the decayed industrial blight starts being cleared away for good the geographic resources of the area will regain prominence and the population will grow once again. The scenery, strategic location and recreational opportunities are so strong and will become the foundation for growth. The biggest obstacles are political and financial but I can see a point in time where everything reaches a critical mass- a tipping point where the land is restored just enough to accellerate the process- and look out after that happens. -
A little late, yet interesting - JCUTLER V RFITZPATRICK

winning isn't everything....... -
been to several in jamaica- water's great but it's too hot. florida has nice ones, still too hot. carolinas / myrtle beach / ocean isle- it's too windy and humid, waves are too rough. california- water is too cold. hawaii is probably perfect- never been. the best one for me is grand haven michigan. it's literally perfect.

and if the bills had a top-10 QB they would have made the playoffs. the defense put the team in positions to win the game- e.g. the patriots game- and fitz couldn't deliver. he was also horridly inept at maintaining possession and sustaining drives through third down conversion. -

except when fitz threw it to the turf or the opposition. -

It is ill informed at best and delusional at worst to believe that Jay Cutler and Ryan Fitzpatrick are equal or close in talent level. Jay Cutler was a gunslinging all-pro when the Bears hung him out to dry when they traded away high value draft picks for (2) years when they could not afford to do so. They badly needed players (OL, WR) to give him a chance for success. He had one of the worst OLs in the league, sub par receivers until recently, went from one bad OC to another (Mike Martz traded away Jay's best target in TE Greg Olsen for a "blocking TE" that couldn't), and spent most of his time injured, flat on his back or concussed. Ryan Fitzprick is a perennial backup calibre QB who played in a scheme that maximzed his talents and then regressed when the league found out how simpe the Bills offense really was (Slant pass, seam route, bubble screen, check down). -
