This article confirms what I had believed all along and from a publication I respect. If he's there the search is over IMHO. http://www.profootballweekly.com/2013/04/01/barkley-smith-scouting-reports

i agree with the latter but disagree with the former. except for johnson and occasionally chandler the bills receivers were abysmal at getting separation from their defenders this year. and stevie often did a poor job at coming back for balls and challenging the defender for the ball. he started doing better later in the season but was horrible at this early on. the receivers are a big part of the problem and a great dominating receiver can make a QB look better.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
jethro_tull replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the times I saw Nassib play his receivers were dropping balls regularily. barkley had two outstanding receivers in robert woods and marquise lee. pro football weekly has said that nassib is the second best precision passer in the draft -
have you seen coradelle patterson play? he runs upright and is built like a stalk of prairie grass. no way he lasts in the NFL. my best receiver is USC's robert woods. doesn't drop a ball, has great dupes and superior yards after catch. would fit perfectly into the Bills offense. i wouldn't mind it if barkley were still his signal caller but no way the bills get both of them.

God's Team: Ray Lewis vs Tim Tebow - same or different?
jethro_tull replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely right on the money. And in my personal understanding and belief **** happens because God wants us to value the lives that we were given, and to live out our Christian faith by being God here on earth to others, especially those that suffer, because as a Christian it was part of the plan that I should suffer in the form of trials. It is guaranteed. And I certainly did. However the suffering strengthens faith and when you come out on the other side you help those who are in the middle of their trials, and bear witness that since you made it, so can they. -

HOW IRRELEVANT THE PRINT MEDIA HAS BECOME
jethro_tull replied to chef4131's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Internet info is in danger of losing credibility because things are so fast and furious. this chip kelly deal where he was signed by the browns, then the eagles, then opted out of the NFL altogether- and andy reid had an agreement with the cardinals and then the chiefs- quite a joke. what are you supposed to believe? or do we wait for "confirmation" first? -
An Open Thread to Communicate with Russ Brandon
jethro_tull replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree that Russ Brandon would occasionally read this site- but I believe there are ways to make a communication from TSW more effective. For example- A team of e-mail connected admins review the posts and ideas within the open communication thread. The team agrees to publish an official ONE PAGE locked thread that becomes the official fan communication suggestion document. Example- TSW MEMORANDUM FOR RUSS BRANDON, CEO of the BUFFALO BILLS of the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE This documant can summarize / edit/ categorize the contents of the open thread so as to arrive at a consensus for each category and suggestion / question. The team is headed by an official admin who decides the content- but each team member can have input on the content. The team agrees on an official format. The team agrees on the topic categories- example, stadium improvements- as well as to create the official presented responses within a category- example, types of food at the concessions. The categories and suggestions should be concise and carefully limited such that they can be read at a glance. -

BFD an interview is an interview and anything can happen although I don't want him regardless -

Respectfully disagree. After watching that Oregon game last night I was left unimpressed and leaning to him not landing with the Bills. They ran (3) basic plays last night- a seam route, a read option and a bubble screen. I thought I was watching an old animated cartoon series where the scenery repeats itself every second. Their success came from the tempo, which was quick and nothing new- as well as the athleticism / quickness of the players. With every NFL defensive back able to run a 4.4, this simply will not work in the NFL- without a QB with high level athleticism if at all. So you need to adapt it for the NFL. Adapt it to what and with what personnel? Sure Belichick consulted with Kelly- manily about how to employ the tempo, which it seems Brady has been able to do. Bringing in a "tempo" coach with no NFL experience is a risk worth not taking IMHO. -
yes, the bears had the only trilogy of head and former head coaches! New Orleans isn't in the market for a coach. did anyone yet mention that lovie should bring back rusty jones yet? i'm too lazy to read the ENTIRE thread again. if not, you heard it here first. forgot to mention that i am going to send a thank you note to bears GM Phil Emery thanking him for the Lovie fire.

Doug Marrone will interview w/Bills
jethro_tull replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Syracuse alum, New York NFL beat writer, NFL coaching scholar and author Gary Myers perdicts Marrone will be an NFL coach either this year or next- and would hate to see him leave his alma mater. "He's the first one to get the arrow point up" Myers said. Ayy, these college coaches ain't that bad ahhhhh??? What's to lose at this point as it is? Marone, maybe this guy deserves a break, ahh? -
Lovie Smith and Bills to talk this week-end. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/8809007/lovie-smith-formerly-chicago-bears-reportedly-interview-buffalo-bills

Author, NFL writer, scholar of NFL coaches and Syracuse alum Gary Myers "Coaching Confidential, Inside the Fraternity of NFL Coaches" believes that college coaches are more likely to succeed in the NFL because of recent rules favoring the offense. "Basically you have a passing game more like two-hand touch than NFL football" he is quoted as saying this morning on Chicago sports talk radio. "You just can't touch the receivers any more" he mentions. The NY based NFL columnist witnesses the boom of successful college coaches in the NFL and believes it isn't just because they are exceptional coaches. It is a combination of NFL experience, college coaching success and today's pass happy league (allowed by the rule changes) that greatly reduces the risk for NFL teams to consider hiring college coaches. He did mention that the success stories do seem to have NFL experience- e.g. Harbaugh, Carroll and Schiano. All of a sudden Doug Marrone coming to the Bills ain't looking half bad.

agreed- but if lovie smith is the fastest way to the playoffs- chip kelly might be the fastest way to a dynasty. the key is for OBD to make the right decision for the long haul- not nest season. if they hire kelly- understand it may take some time for him to be successful- but he will need that security in the form of a multi year deal. if he's "the guy" this is the way to proceed.
