  1. That is why I pick the college game. There are more plays. There are not enough plays in the NFL since they start up the clock sooner after an out of bounds play. I went to the Cal/Wash. St. game with my kids last Oct. and the game was exciting. I looked up and there is still time to go in the first QTR. One long drive in a Pro game can eat up 2/3 of a qtr. I went to the Bills Raiders game the next day and it wasn't near as fun for my boys and I. I say lengthen the games and allow all 53 players to suit up. Timout's in the pros used to be one minute long. Now it seems like I'm watching commercials with a splattering of football mixed in. We only get about 60 offensive plays per team vs. about 75-90 in college. I'll take a four hour game in college any time.
  2. I hope at least one of these new guys works out 'cuz Tim anderson is one of the least athletic linemen I've seen in a Bills uniform. Unless someone steps up I am not too optimistic about our DT's.
  3. 1980's... Jeff Nixon :a very good safety from Richmond... an injury ended his short career. Also, I thought Derrick Burroughs and Nate Odomes were outstanding cover men. Other nominees : Roland Hooks, Leon Seals and Jim Braxton. Yes I am old !!! Take Care
  4. Matthew Rice and Greg Carothers have already been cut and Tim Euhus was traded to the Saints; if that helps with your roster trimming.
  5. If this original post is on the level, then we need to take this off the Stadium Wall and on to "Easily Duped". I would like to know how many 'Psychics' make there living in Vegas.
  6. Those TD passes against KC to Lee Evans were beautiful as well. The rest of the season was pretty pathetic however. I still think JP is going to be an above QB but he may wear out his welcome before the maturation occurs... Hope not !
  7. Willis has admitted that he is not a football fan. So it is just a job for him. However, some of you may remember Dave Casper TE from Notre Dame/Oakland Raiders/Hall of Fame. He was quoted. as saying that there was only one thing worse than football practice.. and that was the game on Sundays. He hated FB yet was excellent at it. I think Willis will be just fine if he can get just a little hole to run through. All this negativity will be gone towards him when he breaks off his first big'gainer (and I think he will give 100% once he is there).
  8. And we have done so much to improve our offense in the off season. Let's see , we drafted uh..... three practice player lineman(we may have the strongest O-Line in practice player history). We got Andre Davis who was heavily desired by... ?? Melvin Fowler and Tutan Reyes... who may be practicing their Bennie Anderson/ Mike Gandy impersonations as we speak. Oh and Robert Royal.. who's nickname was oops in Washington.. as in "ooops I dropped another pass". Finally, having a QB like KH who doesn't mind throwing a three yard pass on third and nine. I see very little reason for optimism about the offense other than the fact that the defense should be better.. allowing the Offense better field position, which, in reality, cannot be overrated. Given time, we have enough off. weapons.. but I don't see us giving Losman, Holcomb etc. enough time to get our burners open or create holes for Willis. But I'm just a fan like the rest of you and I hope someone can flag this post and talk about what an idiot I am the Week before we Play the Bucs in the Superbowl this year. Take Care All.
  9. I'm going to miss the sound of my twin boys yelling "TIMBER" when the defenders breezed by him and brought the QB to the ground for a sack.
  10. Agree with Rico. Plus Fowler and Reyes spelled sideways looks a lot like Anderson Gandy and Teague. In other words, our track record of picking up linemen who nobody else wants and expecting us to be excited.. well history says be skeptical. Hope we're wrong ... but I doubt it.
  11. I believe we have already reached our quota of inadequate player signings over the last two or three years.
  12. Agree 100 %. Holcomb may end up #1 but that would be the worst thing for this franchise. One of the other two needs to step to the plate. If any one unrelated to K. Holcomb is rooting for him to be #1 (if they are a Bills fan) then I question their understanding of the game. The goal is to win it all and Holcomb has NO chance of doing it ! The other two are question marks and... a "Maybe but probably not" is still much better than an "absolutely not". Thanks.
  13. With his size, even at Right tackle he isn't very far from Left guard ! If he can play at all like he did at Wisconsin he will be an improvement over the "Matadors" currently occupying space on the depth chart. They'll find a spot for him somewhere.. so I don't think his position his etched in stone.
  14. is there any evidence that Fowler and Reyes are any better than Gandy and B.Anderson ? I didn't hear of any bidding wars for these guys. I hope there is much improvement 'cuz Willis just needs a little opening and we might just make a few third and shorts without having to throw the ball. However,The only reason for optimism is.. blind optimism.
  15. I thought that was how they made the Pro Bowl... by doing just that.
  16. I probably think Flutie was the better QB but I was glad when they went with Johnson. We KNEW we weren't going to win a SB with Flutie and Johnson would have been the only one of the two to have won a playoff game.. had the special teams not blown it. I want the Bills to WIN the SB. That is the goal and it wasn't going to happen with Flutie. It turned out RJ was not a winner and the team paid a steep price for him. Lastly, Flutie was a cancer to the team with his back-stabbing ways to the media. I want the Bills to win a Superbowl at least once before I depart this earth but I would prefer it without a media-hyped fraud of a person as leader of the team.
  17. Wanted them to take Safety Roy Williams but Bills assured us they would never take a Safety with a top ten pick... and I'm sure they never will.
  18. Won't disagree with his greatness. I remember him going down against the Rams in a preseason game, I believe. With the technology today he may have come back and been a perennial all-pro. That was a bummer 'cuz we were building a good team at the time.
  19. When he stood at the podium in support of Hillary Clinton... that sealed it for me!
  20. I have watched Bills games since 1965. There is no comparison. O.J. Simpson is by far the best player ever to play for the Bills. There is no argument. To say he is not considered to be in the top 5 at his position is to show you are too young to remember or are tainted by his character. Jim Brown is the only runningback who I would say is clearly better than Simpson. Franco Harris.... lol. Emmitt Smith... he had 4/5 all pros on his oline and was smaller and slower than the Juice. Walter Payton is in the ball park and was better than Emmitt but Gale Sayers was better than Payton. In fact, I'd put Sayers up with the Juice if it weren't for the injuries. I wish we could see full games from the 70's to see the fear factor he brought to opposing defenses. Barry Sanders was great but had too many 4 yard losses to go along with the big plays. I love Thurman, Kelly Andre Reed and Bruce Smith but none had the ability of O.J. Second , in my opinion ... Bruce Smith. Thanks
  21. You know, hate and disgust aren't that far from love and lust. Two weeks in the Bahamas together might just cure what ails you!! If you guys met you might even end up liking each other. Take Care
  22. I've been wrong before.... but if we had drafted Youboty with McCargo's pick and McCargo with Youboty's pick (not saying McCargo would have been there) would the pundits be talking about how the Bills are loading up on defense with five possible starters in 2007 (Those two, Whitner, Simpson and K. Williams). Once they are in camp the word VALUE goes out the door. They are just football players and a football team. To risk going down even five spots for a third round pick and not getting your man is only relevant if you don't have a strong preference on your choice. The Bills' scouts obviously loved Whitner and I for one will cut them some slack until I see Whitner can't play. Go Bills !!
  23. I like Williams' desire and attitude but it seemed the things he most made happen were getting the ball and making a second and seven into a third and seven. Just not enough production from your backup. Does come from my favorite college team though. Thanks.
