  1. I want this! http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/10900270/new-england-patriots-offer-jersey-guarantee-fans

Essentially the Patriots are offering rebates for Jersey puchases if a player leaves a team! In light of the latest Bills fiasco of letting a good player go for no reason (Stevie) we need this!

My closet is filled with Jersey's of temp Bills employees. This could very well save some of those people who take an old jersey and tape the new players name over it. (I've seen a lot of Drew Bledsoe to Parrish Jersey combovers)

  2. He pouted several times last year, was visibly upset at Tuel in the KC game on the field.

I would trade Dareus or a 2nd. He has not made the defense better. There is nothing about his play that shows if we were offered a 2nd that we should not consider it. Won't happen, but I am just saying.

You know, it's hard to detect tone in posts- perhaps this post and thread is sarcasm? Because if not, you are recommending trading Stevie and Marcell for a 2nd and a 4th rounder????!

If that's the case than we have all regressed emotionally, intellectually and probably even physically from having read it.

  3. There's no scenario he comes to Buffalo. IMO he's the best Pat not named Brady and has been for years. That said:

    1) He is Mr. 3-4 NT- the prototype. We are not running a pure 3-4 here

    2) This front office isn't bringing in 33 years old stars and paying them, which is smart

    3) Some 3-4 team will pay him, but not us. With Kyle, Mario and a new deal for Darius, we have more than allocated our share of the cap to the DL

  5. relist them in order of worth by today...that entire list. Mayo drops a ton. Does Flacco go over Ryan for his ring? McFadden still before CJ2K?

A re-draft has to have Matt Ryan going first- that Falcon team was a trainwreck before he got there, and now they are a perennial contender- say it with me- the Falcons are a perennial contender!

  6. I am at a loss continually on how any fan can defend the organization and it's hapless decision making in any meaningful (data or statistics) way. It's not the practice of simply cutting or not signing a veteran or two, it's the cumulative effect of not having these players on the roster, combined with sub-par drafting. A defense that kept and built around veterans such as say Pat Williams, London Fletcher and Antoine Winfield would have made a difference in the record.

Less holes to fill would allow the team to focus on key spots. For example, would we be bottom 3 defense agaisnt the run with Poz and Whitner still on the team? Could we have used that top 10 pick spent on Spiller elsewhere if we had Lynch?

I don't know if cutting Anderson was a good move or not, I do know we just signed him and there is no positive way to spin this move. None.

I assume you're alluding to Walker? I've already pointed to his performance that summer.

No doubt, keeping solid veteran players can help out in the locker room of young teams. There are reasons to get rid of them at times, too, though. Teams as bad as the Bills tend to focus on STARTERS vs. depth given their lack of talent. Quality, experienced depth is a challenge and problem for most teams in the cap era. There are also the issues inherent when backups are making more than starters, etc. You can pooh-pooh that if you must, but it's a relevant dynamic.

I'm pretty sure that NONE of the players they cut or traded and saved money on in the process was the difference in the team being successful or not.

  7. Honestly all this list does is remind me how important a QB is.

Saints and Steelers prior to Brees and Big Ben were not all that great

I was curious about these guys about who their teams took from their 'area'. I'm not entirely sure how much 'southeast' or 'west' covers, but Monos was the Southeastern Scout for the Saints and Fisher the Western Scout for the Steelers.

    Saints:

    2012 - Corey White (SS) 5th - Samson

    2011 - Mark Ingram (RB) 1st - Alabama

2011 - Martez Wilson (OLB) 3rd - East Ill. (not sure if this would fall into southeast or northeast)

2011 - Nate Bussey (LB) 7th - East Ill. (not sure if this would fall into southeast or northeast)

    2011 - Johnny Patrick (DB) 3rd - Louisville

    2010 - Patrick Robinson (DB) 1st - Florida St

    2010 - Jimmy Graham (TE) 3rd - Miami

    2010 - All Woods (DT) 4th - LSU

    2009 - Chip Vaughn (DB) 4th - Wake Forest

    2009 - Stanley Arnoux (LB) 4th - Wake Forest

    2009 - Thomas Morestead (P) 5th - SMU

2008 - Tracy Porter (DB) 2nd - Indiana (not sure if this would be Southeast)

2008 - Demario Pressley (DT) 5th - North Carolina St

    2007 - Robert Meachem (WR) 1st - Tennesee

    2007 - Jermon Bushrod (T) 4th - Towson St

    2007 - David Jones (DB) 5th - Wingate

    2007 - Marvin Mitchell (LB) 7th - Tennesee

    2006 - Roman Harper (DB) 2nd - Alabama

2006 - Rob Nincovixh (DE) 5th - Purdue (not sure if that would be southeast)

    --------------

    Steelers:

    2012 - David Decastro (G) 1st - Stanford

    2012 - Tony Clemens (WR) 7th - Colorado

    2012 - Daid Paulson (TE) 7th - Oregon

2011 - Keith Williams (OL) 6th - Nebraska (not sure if this would be considered 'western' territory)

    2010 - Stevenson Sylvester (LB) 5th - Utah

    2009 - Bruce Davis (LB) 3rd - UCLA

    2008 - Dennis Dixon (QB) 5th - Oregon

    2008 - Mike Humpal (LB) 6th - Iowa

2007 - Ryan Mcbean (DT) 4th - Oklahoma St (not sure if this is 'west')

    2006 - Mrvin Phillip © 6th - California

Obviously, I'm not sure what type of input they had on the actual selections or clout they had or what. I just wanted to see what type of players came out of their generalized territories.

  8. The highlight of this draft so far has been the trade down- I cheered wildly as for once we didn't rush our pick to the podium. However, other than Woods, I think we messed up. Again. It's not the players aren't good (who knows at this point). It's just that the buffoons running the show at OBD really think they know better than everyone esle. They haven't earned that right.

We have go to stop reaching for players thinking we have some secret analysis of them- Troupe was picked too early, Graham was picked too early last year.

This year we clearly picked Manuel too early, Alsonso too ealry and our second safety wayy too ealry.

I continue to see the best teams (49ers this year) draft players right at (or usually after) the point in the draft they have been predicted to go. I see awful teams (Bills) reaching for guys earlier than other teams would have picked them.
