All good points! Would the drafted QB even play his first year?? That's something to wonder about as well...You know an Offensive tackle would start for sure! Another thing is if we have a Very good OLT in place after the draft it may make Buffalo a much more attractive option for a FA QB in the future or when drafting a 1st rounder next year. I think we should still bolster our QB situation in the 3rd round by taking a chance on one of the QB's that you the fanbase reccomend. QB is almost always a risk...and a risk in the 1st round could set us back another year or two! It's interesting because of the risk vs reward of selecting a Clausen or a Tebow!

Even though I picked him on one of my mocks...this is the kind of insight that I was looking for...a little "extra" info that I wasn't even aware of. I have to admit that I haven't watched him QB in a game..and can only go by highlight video which is slanted to show his better plays and comments made in draft guides. Even though your post is short..it's awesome!! I would be interested in what your assesment would be in Clausen, Tebow, Skelton, Crompton, Leflevor, etc...Who has the strong arm necessary for Bflo's wind, rain, and snow!

Why Bring in Same talent level?
tonyjustbcuz replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank Goodness!! I agree with everything you posted!!!! -
I have my thoughts and views, but I am more interested in who YOU think the Bills should draft and in which round. I would love if you post supporting reasons why we should select a certain QB, and it would be nice if your not just a draft guide clone that is repeating what we have all read in Sporting News, Athlon, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, ProFootball Weekly, etc.... Have you watched your targeted QB in any games? Reasons why your QB will succeed in Buffalo, in poor weather conditions, under constant fan scruitny, without all the WR & "O" line tools in place yet! Why your QB will work?? Your QB's weaknesses and past struggles?? What pick will probably land us him?? What should we be willing to giving up if it involves a trade?? Your plan "A", your plan "B" just in case your target QB is gone! etc... What would be a reach to get him??? All your input matters! It would be nice if there are varied opinions. It would be great to see a trend or a consensus! Now, all the work is up to "YOU" the "Bills fan," to make the pick and circle the wagons!, because Buffalo "You are on the Clock" !!!!

They mean to get back in as pick a 2nd time in the first round...I think the arguement most people make is for either a QB or a OT in the first round. I think that moving back to mid-first round allows you to draft Clausen as your QB and one of the following OT's ie: Brian Bulaga, Trent Williams, Anthony Davis, and maybe one or two other. I agree with the idea of moving back into the first and the Bills have done it quite often in the past decade. At least a few times that I can think of...It all comes down to what you have to give up to do so. Automatically your 2nd round pick is part of the trade. It probably would require your 3rd or 4th round pick this year as well. It would probably cost you one more pick either this year or next year in your later rounds or a player instead of a late round pick. Pretty substantial compensation for moving up about 20-25 picks, but that's how it goes if you got a player you covet at a certain position and want that player badly enough. I could see the Bills moving up in the 15-25 range and trading their 2nd round pick, M. Lynch, and a 4th round pick this year to do so.

Gonna call this as I see it without getting carried away: This is one of the most idiotic posts I have read this off-season!! Lee Evans is one of the few bright spots we have on the team, along with Brian Moorman, Jarius Byrd, and Fred Jackson!! We don't need to create a hole where there isn't one either. We have enough holes.. and yes I agree 6-10 is about where the Bills probably will be this year..I actually have predicted 5-11 depending how the draft works out. With good drafting and a couple of good mid-range FA signings I expect the team to be 8-8 in 2011 (If there's not a lockout!)...and for 2012 based on gradual improvement which is purely a guess at this point I'll predict 10-6. Normally a team who shifts from the 4-3 to the 3-4 has a very poor initial year after the change in defensive philosophy goes into effect. So I expect this..but I think the 3-4 defense will eventually help us against our division foes which will greatly enhance our prospects of winning once the defensive unit gels and fully understands the 3-4.

How come people keep saying I this and I that and I would like to see things play out like this when all they are doing is typing almost verbatum from what a NFL Draft guide say's in their analysts assesment of a player. It isn't like your going out there and scouting any of these players, or probably even watching most if any of them. Your just putting together a collage of words and opinions from the so-called experts ie: Mel Kiper etc..Or Chris Mortensen who are normally wrong with their Mock drafts. Most of these user mock drafts are also getting ridiculous as well..as most people are just siding with the majority of what they see in these mocks and before you know it, everyone has the draft starting out with Bradford, Suh, McCoy, and Okung or something like that down the line. But, the draft is rarely like that except for the first few players sometimes. That's where teams scouting and personnel departments combined with their War Rooms and loaded with stat's, film, and notes from the combine and player visits really decide who their going to draft. And, like every year it ends up a lot different then all the Mock so-called experts and mock parrots presume. Except for the top 3 picks anything is possible in this draft and you can't take what the GM's like NIX or coaches of the Bill's or any team for that matter say's seriously. Even Suh, McCoy, and Bradford could end up on other team's pending any trades. It's all up for grabs, and you can find hall of the fame talent anywhere in your first 4 founds or so!! Ask Thrumon Thomas, Jerry Rice, Tom Brady etc...about that.

Here's a thought: DRAFT BOTH OF THEM!!!
tonyjustbcuz replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure..Tebow could be the spirtiual leader of the team like Frank Reich was since he'll be backup to Clausen for the next several years. Tebow is inspirational...is a good leader...etc...but besides having to refine his mechanics that he has been trying to change quite admirably, he still has to learn about a pro style offense which will also take time. Some QB's take years to understand the Complexities of the NFL, Just ask Brian Brohm, Tod Collins. Some never understand the playbook and never sense the pressure coming from the defense as the NFL is a much faster game. Just ask J.P. Lossman, and so far Trent Edwards, and many, many actually the majority of QB's that are drafted. Drafting 2 QB's of such standing in the same draft would be idiotic. You would be creating a QB controversery without giving either QB the opportunity to learn and grow. Everytime they screw up there heads will be called for and everyone will want to see the other inserted. Didn't we go through this with Rob Johnson and Doug Flutie???? It wasn't pretty!!! C'mon people!! -
Here's a thought: DRAFT BOTH OF THEM!!!
tonyjustbcuz replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Just because we're having a yard sale, doesn't mean anybody wants our junk. They definitely won't give up a first round pick for our leftovers. 2. Nothing like creating a QB controversy in advance! Neither QB would be able to go through any growing pains without the fans calling for the other QB. 3. Now, if the Bill's drafted 2 really good OLT that's not even an issue, but at QB it would be stupid! Exciting, intersting, chaotic, but still stupid! I do like that you are thinking out of the box, I just don't agree with this particular idea. -
What do you want the Bills to do with the #9 PICK?
tonyjustbcuz replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know...Sporting News say's that Dez Bryant has the greatest bust potential in the 1st round and has had problems with authority. Don't we already have that in Lynch??? Don't really need another bad attitude player. I'd rather Demariyus Thomas WR Georgia Tech who many of the scouts like better and he's not a head case either. You may be lucky enough to get him with the Bills 2nd round pick if he slides slightly. Tebow has a lot of intangibles, but he will need at least 2-3 years of development in a Pro Offense regardless of rather his mechanics are completely overhauled or not...He would be okay for a wildcat offense in time, but that is highly unlikely in Buffalo. I think he's a project with a lot of potential, but I don't think the Bills can afford to wait a few more years until they have a chance at the playoffs and with Tebow that may be what your looking at if everything goes perfect. If things don't happen that way then Tebow may never make the jump to the Big leaugues as a succesful NFL QB. It would be far from the 1st time that a great college QB couldn't cut it in the NFL. Gaither may be a good trade, but the price may go up as there are other teams interested in him as well...and I definitely don't want to surrender more than one pick. I think if your a team that is rebuilding...and the Bills are...and there is a lot of youth on our team...and drafting more youth...I think that you should keep your picks and build through the draft regardless. Otherwise, we are going to keep trying to rebuild every 3 or 4 years and I want to only go through these growing pains one last time, but get it right this one last time. Get the Best QB you can...the Best OT you can...Best NT you can and WR and even if you have to trade some of next years picks away to do so...you do it...and a late round this year as well...and any players that you don't want on your squad...ie: Lynch, Parrish, etc....Make your big moves this year and lay your foundation for the future! -
He's not too much of a sleeper...as the Sporting News NFL Draft guide had him ranked as the 2nd best QB in the draft behind Bradford and really praised him. They did a whole breakdown on all the QB's with overall grades etc....Another QB that they really liked a lot was Tony Pike. Is that Cincinatti..? I don't remember cause it's getting late. They really did not like Leflevor at all.....I think they had Clausen at #3. It's not so much where these guys peg the QB's..It's more about what the scouts think as they influence the Football clubs in their decision. So when a scout talks I listen carefully, because they know more than Mel Kiper and the other supposed experts.
-
Well obviously I screwed this up....Please comment the worst of the bunch or even rank order them...I'm trying to avoid the obvious like Kelly, Flutie, Blesdoe who was okay for a while before he floundered.
-
Of the following Bill's QB's Please rank theworst QB of the bunch..(not that there is a good QB here, but I'm interested to see where Trent Edwards and Lossman finish up. For the purpose of this poll assume that all QB's are no longer Buffalo Bills...even Trent Edwards. Todd Collins_______ Trent Edwards_____ J.P. Lossman______ Rob Johnson_______ If this poll doesn't turn out right..sorry..because I've never done this before and I don't know what the heck I'm doing..lol

The topics are just getting so boring and meaningless on this site! I used to be excited about reading all these posts...Who cares what Chris Mortensen said seven years ago! I don't even care what he said today! All that matters is the Bills make the right choices in the draft and don't make reaches like they did with Aaron Maybin last year when players like Bryan Orakapo fall right in your lap! That's the sort of stuff that matters!!!
-
Yeah, good stuff...lol...I like Shrimp and Meatloaf.. Wonder if our blogs beat the Topic! Bet it does!

So was Antoine Smith for about 2 yards before he'd fall to the ground! Woppie Doopy..

Where to listen to/watch the draft?
tonyjustbcuz replied to Gibran Chandan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IDEAS: -------- -Go to a sports bar -type in WGR550 AM on your search bar on your computers internet site...and the appropriate link should pop up and if you enter that you will be able to listen to WGR 550 AM Sports station out of Buffalo..It should be on there providing the Sabres aren't playing a playoff game that night...if so you'll have a bonus and get to listen to that as well...you could go back and forth if you like. -You could try ESPN.COM I believe you can listen to the draft live and even watch it as well - I believe last year I used NFL.COM and watched and listened to the draft on that site as well... -Most if not all your t.v. viewing will be on cable, so that may not be an option unless your at a friend's house or at a sports bar...but that doesn't sound like a viable option for you. -I think your internet options sound like a possible solution..remember NFL.COM, and ESPN.COM should do the trick...and then maybe some supplemental coverage and a "local" perspective on the WGR550 Site. Hope this helps some! Good luck -
Yeah...but we had him...and if he wasn't good enough for Jauron..Should we get excited if this coaching staff might want him?????????? C'mon we had him for a while...if the Bills thought he was worth salvaging he would have been on the practice squad and they wouldn't have released him..

Kick him out of here on his bippie!

No insults here...pretty good blogging! Well, you named several names you expect to be gone...so here's my 2 cents..lol Well it's probably likely that Bradford is going to St. Louis...especially since M. Bulger was just released after Bradford's workout. Most draft guru's are sure that Suh and McCoy will be drafted either pick #2 and #3 but definitely within 5 picks... So 3 are off the board...Most draft analysts also project Russell Okung OT to go quick and I agree with that...So 4 are gone and probably close to that order! Pick 5 is interesting as it's K.C.'s and I could see someone trading up there or even at 4 with Washington so they can get their second round pick back from the McNabb trade! As a matter of fact I will call that in advance!! But, I still think those 4 players will be gone..and who knows maybe the deadskins might keep that 4th pick to get Okung to protect McNabb which may make sense depending on their current offensive line status which I am unsure about. I think when you look at picks 5-8 right before us you have to figure that at least one and maybe two more OT may be off the board. I would think that Bryan Bulaga OT and Trent Williams OT would be the two. I think Bulaga has shot up the draft boards and will be chosen before Williams. In my little mock...I am working on, I notice if someone scoops up Clausen then that will probably free up another OT to choose from ie: Bryan Bulaga, or Trent Williams. So it's quite possible we may have 2 or 3 good OT's to choose from, possibly Clausen, a couple of outstanding receievers (even though I wouldn't use my 1st pick for a receiver)....a superb running back, a good rush LB in Morgan as well. If that chain is broken in my mock by unexpected selections in the top 10 this could also free up a few more coveted players. There are often surprises and tradeups for coveted players...So, I would say being at #9 is a good place to be, but if you want a guaranteed opportunity to select one of the following players... Bulaga, T. Wiliams, or J. Clausen then I am convinced you should trade-up to the 7th spot with Cleveland...(Cleveland traded down several times last year and I believe they would consider it once again!). If you want a guarantee of getting either Bulaga or Clausen you need to go to #5. If you want a guarantee to get Clausen as your QB then you must move up to #4 with the Redskins! So the necessary move or non-move is determined by the player that you covet most for your team. I think the Bills will attempt to move up in the draft...and if you see them trade away a player just prior to the draft ie: M. Lynch, R. Parrish etc...and especially if they bunch a couple players for a 2nd or 3rd round pick....I would expect that they will move-up in the draft. I think they will only move up to get a QB...and I expect it to be Clausen IMO. We'll see...and it should be fun!!! There are some interesting prospects if you decide to focus on a QB a bit later, (which I think is foolish)..but if so then I think J. Crompton is a very good pick with great potential or even Tony Pike QB. I read up on each of them and feel that they will have a better future in the NFL than Colt McCoy or Dan Leflevor...but that's just my opinion. I Think if you want Clausen it's gonna cost you, but if the Bills scouts are adamant about his talent and potential then go for it as your premier position is QB. What would a team give up now for a rookie if he were the next Peyton Manning guaranteed!! Well you'd give up your entire draft for that one player! (at least I would). So alot will be based on the organizations conviction on a particular player. It will be hard for the Bills to get one of the top 7 or 8 Offensive Tackles and to select Clausen at QB! It will not be costly or difficult to get Bryan Bulaga and Tony Pike or Crompton, or Tebow, or Leflevor, etc...as your QB. So it's based on the organizational priorities specifically and I hope those have changed since last year when we took Maybin over Orakapo!!! #1 Sam Bradford QB #2 McCoy DT #3 Suh DT #4 R. Okung OT #5 Bryan Bulaga OT *Interesting..good trade-down slot...could be Eric Berry S/CB #6 Trent Williams OT #7 Joe Haden CB #8 Jason Pierre-Paul DE or Bruce Campbell OT (Al davis usually go with players with freakish athrleticism) #9 Possibly still available- Jimmy Clausen QB (50/50%), Anthony Davis OT, Dez Bryant WR, Demarius Thomas WR, C.J. Spiller RB, Taylor Mays S, Derrick Morgan DE,

I don't think that would be enough to get'er done! I think Lynch might get you a happy meal though at Mc'D's.
