I listened to him all the time on Sirius radio back 15+ years ago, his knowledge was incredible. Haven't heard him in years, but glad to hear he was still doing his thing into his 90s.

Similar to what we have in Bernard and Dorian…. Only older. I think I’d rather turn it over to the kids, but can’t hurt to see what he can do in a workout
Bernard ran a 4.59 & definitely plays slower than that. While I doubt Deion Jones is still running as fast as the 4.39 from his pro day anymore, but he's sure to be a hell of a lot faster than Bernard, or Dodson. When you consider that Jones already has 5 seasons of what Bernard/Dodson dream to someday achieve once, they're not similar at all.
Dorian on the other hand, I think can be a player. Obviously not at MLB this year, but eventually.

Ran a 4.39 at his LSU pro day. Played 3 years with Tre White. 5 seasons with 100+ tackles, 12 career INTs
Certainly worth a look.

I doubt Klein gets cut due to essentially no one else flashing strong, injuries to Bernard and now Specter. I think they may cut Matekavich this year as some of the younger guys can take his role on ST. Kameron Cline has been a ST demon.
Yeah I agree on an Matakevich. Makes no sense to pay $2.5M for a an average ST-only player.

I really want to see Josh manipulate Edmunds in coverage with his eyes, the way Mahomes always abused him doing that. Make him think you're throwing to whatever speedy replacement-level KC receiver is running the crossing route, while Kelce just sits down in the zone for a 20 yard gain.

I've had a grade 2 MCL sprain, the 6-week variety. It swelled up pretty fast & hurt like hell to put weight on it, there's no way I could've been walking around on the sideline after it happened. If McGovern was really moving around, I'm hopeful it's of the milder variety.

What if you forced your way to the Bills & then sucked? If Beane gave up multiple 1st rounders to get you & you were a bust, all of Bills Mafia would hate you for the rest of your days.
You think JP Losman would be welcomed back by the fans?

There was one play early (first drive, I think) where the pocket was clean & Allen could've stepped up if needed. But he bailed out to the right, directly into where TJ Watt was headed. Brown was doing a really good job with Watt on the play, and that fell apart when Allen rolled into the danger zone. It's that stuff that concerns me.
-
Dorsey's play calling with the starters was still idiotic. Our OTs are getting throttled by Pitt's edge rushers, and we're still featuring long-developing 20 yard routes with double moves. To the point that Josh had to move around the pocket & evade rushers while waiting for receivers to complete a route.

Love all those Mahomes underhanded up the middle 3 yard TD shovel passes… Stud
Yep, I'd bet at least half of Mahomes' TDs from the 3yd line are the variety where they travel about 12 inches in the air. To a guy with a wide open lane to walk into the endzone. That's scheme, we need more scheming guys open this year.

This part just blows my mind:
During the early stages of his NFL career, Manziel would call his agent, Erik Burkhardt, and tell him football wasn't fun anymore. Losing the love for the game obviously affected his study habits, because Manziel wasn't watching any film.
"Their GM's calling me going, 'He doesn't watch tape,'" Burkhardt said. "I'm like, 'Well he's gotta watch some tape.' He's like, 'EB, his iPad hours is 0.00.'"
Manziel confirmed he watched zero film: "Zero."

I like that they're force-feeding Torrence a steady dose of Daquon Jones. Let him struggle vs our best interior DL now & adapt/make adjustments so he's hopefully ready for the guys he'll see during the season.

Same problem here in Illinois. I've noticed a lot of the officials they do have are old guys, when those guys age out, it'll get worse. Good for you for helping out.
I've seen the same with umps in HS baseball. Games cancelled because no umps available, or having to play with only 1 ump.

If Cook doesn't fumble on his first career carry, I think his 2022 season would've gone much differently. He didn't touch the ball again in the opening game, and had only 35 total touches in Weeks 2-9
As long as Cook doesn't fumble vs the Jets Week 1, I expect he'll be the RB1 for the season.

I'm intrigued by Gouraige. He started 52 games at Florida, most at LT & a few at LG. He's viewed as a RT in the NFL, but if he started at LT for 3 years in the SEC, he must have skills that could translate to the other side, and 34" arm length meets the minimum requirement.
Not sure why he went undrafted, but he could end up a diamond in the rough.

Nothing Payton said about Hackett was wrong. Was it in poor taste to air it publicly like that? Absolutely, but it isn't like he made the stuff up, everyone could see the Broncos were the pinnacle of dysfunction in 2022.
I imagine it came from a place of frustration after seeing just how bad things were at Mile High when Payton arrived. I'd be surprised if Hackett is employed by an NFL team once Rodgers retires.

Meniscus tear has 2 options, either a full repair which is 6-9 months, or a meniscectomy which is 6-8 weeks.
Meniscectomy just cuts out the damaged part of the meniscus. It doesn't grow back or repair itself. You get back to playing quickly, but have a partial meniscus for the rest of your life.
Meniscus repair is just like it sounds, it keeps the meniscus intact but has a very long recovery time due to very little bloodflow in cartilage. Most athletes under the age of 30 opt for repair to avoid knee issues in the future. Recovery can take longer, even if Ramsey returns late in the season, he may not be be 100% until the 2024 season.

Is it really his calf? They were calling Durant's injury a "calf injury" until it ended up being his achilles.
Well an achilles injury is a "calf injury". Unless they say it's the gastrocnemius or soleus, or anything specific- it could be a torn achilles. Just saying Calf Injury sounds like they're being intentionally vague.

That did not look like an Achilles; they're typically much more painful when it first happens.
I've witnessed 2 achilles tears from within 10-20ft away, neither were very in much pain. It looked a lot Burrow, just hopping & going down, followed by f-bombs. Not saying that's what Burrow has, I imagine any calf injury gets the "hop & plop" response.

I remember really wanting him in the draft, but he's been a complete turd in 4 NFL seasons since.
He did have 102 catches for 1698yd & 15 TDs in his senior year at UMASS.
His final college game vs Georgia: 15 catches, 219yd, 2 TDs.

I'm not sure how you can say that based off of a couple hundred snaps. I'll give him an INC for the miami game since we were a cobbled together mess on the offensive line. Then you have Detroit who had among the worst defenses in the league, and Chicago... who also had among the worst defenses in the league.
Bates wasn't even a very good RG last year, and may be a backup if he doesn't win a job against a rookie.
I'm of the opinion that Bates is a better Center than OG. I agree he'll likely be a backup at Guard this year, but I think he's our Center in 2024 & I'm OK with that.

Depth behind Morse is where i just don't see it. Maybe Bates can be close to as good, but if he were to miss any time its a huge drop off to the next guys. I also think having familiarity with the QB is huge. Offensive line hasn't been a strength under Beane so I don't think its wise to move someone who's been one of our better starters here.
I think Bates is little to no drop off from Morse, and probably a better run-blocker. The problem we had with Bates playing Center was that forced us to have 2 awful OGs on the field instead of just 1 in Saffold.
Now that we've added 3 OGs who are all upgrades, we'll be in a solid position if Bates plays Center. And let's face it, Morse is more likely to miss some time this season than play all 17 games.

If Josh's career had turned out like Darnold's, and the drought was still in-effect today, there probably would be some reverence toward Tyrod. He did help break the drought, but that doesn't change the fact that he wasn't very good. Having a real QB & a legit offense now, helps us forget celebrating mediocrity during the Tyrod years.
It's like when your parents get you a used beat-up 89' Chevy Cavalier when you turn 16 & it's the greatest thing that ever happened to you. Then when you buy a new luxury car in your 30s, you laugh remembering about being so happy to drive that old POS.

Higgins & Boyd are UFAs after this season, and Chase is up the following year. Higgins is a goner for sure, some team will offer him top-10 WR money & no way he'll pass that up, or could Cincy match. They could maybe re-sign Boyd if he comes cheap. I could also see them letting both walk and signing a mid-tier vet & drafting another WR.
There is no way they don't make Chase the highest paid WR in the league, and losing other key players is cost of doing that.
