Imagine being Hopkins & finding out you got traded to the Pats. Bad weather & McCorkle? no way he'd report.

All-in is what the 2021 Rams did. It worked, but they'll be paying the price for most of a decade.
We just need to add a couple pieces to reload, and we'll still be in the title contender mix beyond this year.

The Bears have already acquired the land at a suburban site in Arlington Heights, the Soldier Field re-renovation is not happening. So I assume the ridiculous amount of money paid to have those renderings made is now just part of the $631M debt.

0 penalties in 15 games last year, and only 2 career penalties. That's huge. I like it.

If he drops to round 4-5, I'd support drafting him. Even being on IR for a year, he'd provide much more value than what we'd likely draft otherwise.

If we draft Defense at #27, that player absolutely must be an immediate contributor. We can't afford another guy who needs to be brought along slowly & barely play half the games.
I think Campbell could be that type of player, and possibly the only one I'd be OK with. If we draft another rotational DL who makes little impact as a rookie, we deserve to suffer for it.

nfl.com draft analyisis lists Zay Flowers' NFL comparison as Travis Benjamin. Yikes...

I really like Dalton Risner, he's projected at $7M/yr. I loved him in his draft year, he has the versatility to be OG & RT, and is nasty. Adding a FA like him would free us up to not be forced to take OL in the 1st if one falls, then take best available among WR/OL/LB/Safety.

That 1.52 10-yard split is 🔥 too
Maybin had a 1.57 10-yard split. Like Nolan Smith, Maybin was also said to be "thin-waisted" & bulked up from 235ish lbs to 250lbs for the Combine.
I have no doubt Smith will be a better pro than Maybin, but when I see the term "thin waisted" used on any DL, my first thought it to stay the heck away.

The Jeep Trackhawk Carter was driving has over 700 Horsepower & costs $91K. I'll assume this was part of his NIL deal with Georgia, and all the big NIL deals include fancy cars, but why give a top prospect a 700HP vehicle? There are tons of 300HP fancy car options less likely to result in needing to show off that speed.

I'm not against McDermott calling the defensive plays in principle, but I am concerned about it distracting him from his HC duties/CEO on game day role.
McD can still clap & pat guys on the back in between calling defensive plays.

So who do we bring in for DC?
I'm guessing Frazier doesn't actually come back after a year of living the retirement life.

I think it seems extremely stressful to us fans because we all know Beane should let him walk, but we also know darn well that McDermott might be able to convince Beane to pay him, and we'll be screwed on Offense. It really shouldn't be a difficult decision, but given our team's history, they're likely to make it one.

He has a $16M cap hit this year, and he'd probably cost at least a 3rd round pick, it's highly doubtful. Plus he's been overused for years dating back to high school. I doubt he'll play another full season in his career.
Take a look at Henry's Senior season in HS absurd stats:
in 13 games:
462 carries
4,251 yards
55 TDs
He averaged more than 35 carries, 327 yards, & 4 TDs... PER GAME.

I'm thinking no way, but Woods is exactly the type of signing Beane goes for.

Watch Brady and you see his head rarely hits the ground.
It's a bit easier to protect your head when you drop to the ground & turtle up when any defender actually gets within 3 feet of you...

I think we absolutely must add a FA Guard. Going into the draft needing 3 OL is a big risk, and not one I trust Beane not to reach for. If we can add a guy like Dalton Risner in FA, I like our options a whole lot better to get an OT and OG in the draft.
If Morse retires, I like Bates at Center if we don't draft one. But then we'd need to add an OG to start.
I don't think S Brown is locked in as a starter. I think he'll be better with a healthy offseason, but we need to add a Tackle in the first 3 rounds.

Bears, Texans, Giants, Raiders all have a huge need there and have a ton of cap space. I have my money on the Bears or Texans.
I live in the Chicago area. Many of the Bears fans I know really want Edmunds, they think he'd be an upgrade from Roquan Smith.
I warned them it could end up like how Bills fans felt after taking Jauron off their hands.

Problem is, Dorsey doesn't use the slot like Dabs did. That Beasley role we were used to under Dabs was nearly non-existent this year.
What I want to know is, did we under-utilize the slot by design because McKenzie couldn't get open consistently vs zone coverage & dropped way too many when he did? Or is the slot WR just a neglected part of Dorsey's offense?

Smoke & mirrors. We all know darn well that our new WR Coach will be from the Panthers.

If we can ever have a season with 2 or less bad weather games, Allen will win it. It's impossible to have the passing numbers needed with the conditions we've dealt with the past 2 seasons.
-
Watching each team's first drive, I couldn't believe how clean the pocket was on every pass. I commented on one of the Eagles plays that Josh didn't have that much time on a single play the entire season.
I fully agree. I'd like to see 2 OL picks in the first 3 rounds & a FA addition.

Will the odds change if Beane goes DL/Safety/LB in rounds 1-3 of the draft?

Bernard vs Dodson: Tale of the Tape
in The Stadium Wall
Posted
I thought Bernard had promise, but then I saw the 1 game he started. He was so bad that didn't look like he belonged on an NFL field, I don't think he played another snap all year after that. Aside from the fumble return TD in preseason, I didn't see any of the speed that was talked about. He looked no faster than AJ Klein in coverage, and he appeared to be about the same size as James Cook. He needs another 10-20lbs, hopefully that's what he's working on.
I'm still hopeful for him in the future, but there's no way McBeane trust him to be a regular this year.
