  1. Football is so insanely subjective especially when you don’t know the specifics of the plays. I don’t think PFF is worthless as it has some objective data teams do like to use and even their subjective grades are still a data point for fans.

I doubt teams are genuinely using PFF grades to measure player performance as teams know it’s just someone’s opinion.

  2. It’s been an impressive run thus far. What’s made it more impressive is that Josh outside of the Jets and Steelers games has not been Superman with any consistency.

The defense and running game have come in and helped Josh not have to carry the load even the much maligned special teams unit helped with big plays against the Jets (fumble on the opening kick) and the Fins (obviously the punt return)

This team found ways to win games without Josh having to save the day. That’s saying something. Going to have to continue to fight adversity in the playoffs but at least KC will be a home game!

  3. I was really shocked to see how poorly Elam was playing in the early part of the season. Elam is the teams most athletic corner and he flashed solidly in his rookie year playing decently while learning to play zone.

Then with another training camp under his belt and a chance to further develop he just looked awful. But then when it came out that he was injured it made sense why he was so bad.

Jury is still out on Elam but I think he’s going to be at the very least an effective player.

  4. Shakir is the slot WR and I am all about drafting a WR in round 1 to replace Gabe. I like Gabe but the cap dollars likely need to add Gabe are just not going to be justifiable. Also Diggs will be 31 next season elite WR’s tend to fall off around age 32/33 so getting another WR to groom in what could be the last 2 or so great years from Diggs is also a long term consideration

I've been feeling for some time now that special teams is going to be the death of us this season. Certainly gave me plenty of heartburn today.

All I want is a game with no turnovers and no special teams gaffes by us.

Special teams has been a sore spot almost all season. I was so shocked when special teams made the big play against Miami, prior to that special teams had only made “splash” play (the forced fumble on the Jets opening kickoff week 11) and the special teams had made three very costly errors (Jets TD punt return, 12 men on the field, various missed kicks and the opening TD to the Pats).

My hope is that they can just make the plays they are “supposed” to make. Bass just needs to make all PAT’s and 40 yards and in field goals, kick and cover units don’t let up any big returns and Martin do a decent job of punting. No huge returns or blocked kicks needed just don’t ***** up at this point

    Been a tough game

    T Bernard - X rays negative

    C Benford - Knee -  Out

    S Martin - Hamstring - playing

C McGovern - Back on field

    T Johnson - suspected head injury Q

    B Spector - Back - out

Johnson and Benford are going to be critical, hopefully they can get Douglas and Dodson back. Getting Douglas and Dodson back will reinforce things.

If it is a bad ankle sprain like I thought it was at the time, I’d guess that Bernard is out for a minimum the next two games. He’ll have a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

Possible but given that it looked like a season ended I am glad we are at least talking about the possibility of playing at this point

Harbaugh would make the Chargers instantly better, but so many negatives with this job.

    1. ownership is brutal

    2. same division as mahomes/reid, highly unlikely to win division regularly

    3. salary cap situation short-term doesn't seem great

    4. every home game is a neutral site game at best w visiting fans regularly overtaking it

I think for head coaches these factors don’t matter as much as control, pay and QB situation. If the Chargers are going to give him complete responsibility organizational control and the money he wants while looking at a good QB situation he is going to take the job.

Sure, but if the Bills wanted to pay people more, they could easily make it happen. I get wanting to get by as affordable as possible, but at this point it looks like it won’t be good enough for gametime.

Things like this make me wish that we had ownership and management that was truly willing to pull out all the stops to make everything regarding this team and the experience for the fans as good as it possibly can be. Terry is a decent owner but it’s obvious at this point that he’s willing to cut corners.

People like to blame the outside contractors but in the end the team is the client and sets the budget. The contractors probably came up with that number because it fit their budget a budget set by the team…

I like GMF. It’s a show that really tries to highlight every team and does so in a way that’s mostly positive light. They are critical but they don’t just trash teams or guys like ESPN does. It’s discussion based and not talking points and click bait.

All of the football life episodes are excellent too. Espn will kill all of this

NFLN's biggest strength is NFL Films and Good Morning Football. I can't imagine NFL Films going away but then again league offices can be penny wise dollar foolish.

  11. Make Settle inactive, Poona has been trending upwards so keep him in the rotation but if there was ever a game where you need to big time run stuffers its this one. I like Settle he is a nice rotational DT but he is more of a penetrator than a run stuffer in my opinion.

  12. Buy: Special Teams unit: To put it mildly the ST unit has not been very good this season. Bass has missed a few makeable kicks, they have let up two TD’s plus a few other big returns, Harty had a big muff against the Chargers, Martin’s punting for a lot of the season was mediocre and up until Harty’s big return they haven’t made many big plays.

BUT I think that’s going to go in the other  direction. Martin’s punting has been a lot better and I think Harty is going to break off another big return. Bass also has been clutch in making kicks most notably against the Chargers. I think the ST unit has been energized by Harty’s return and Martin’s punting.

Hold: Turnovers. This is the big IF in the Bills playoff chances. They are not going to have the ability to win multiple playoff games with multiple turnovers. You may get away with it once but consistently you can’t win playoff games with more than 1 turnover. It’s got to be a point of emphasis to get the turnovers to stay at 0 or at worst 1.

Sell: Diggs is hurt and less effective. Diggs having a nice game against the Fins was a great sign after a very quiet stretch of the season. Diggs is going to come out like a champion and baller in the playoffs.

we have played better the last 8 weeks. the negative nancy me expects a let down and mcdermott to poo the bed.

the other part of me is finally starting to see him make better decisions and almost seems like he has changed.

I think in that article it stated that McD was always giving off the vibe of thinking what can go wrong towards the end of close games. Which I kind of agreed with. But since the bye week he is giving off the vibe of what can go right at the end of games.

The team just feels like it’s not as tight towards the end of games.

    not good

Luckily Knox and Dawkins on Thursday should have enough time to get better from illness and Harry hopefully gets back from his personal matter. Mitch had an illness designation last week on Friday and was already deemed good to play on Sunday the next days.

Hopefully between Davis, Dodson, Douglas and Rapp they at least get 2 of the 4 going. I think Davis is likely out and Douglas will likely play the other two are 50/50.

Everyone is banged up this time of year, not the worst injury report.

He is not wrong here. It is a shame that many football fans will not be able to watch the game. All playoff games should be on CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, ESPN.

I don't see putting it on Peacock being that much different than putting it on ESPN. You have to pay for cable to get ESPN so either way it is behind a paywall? I generally agree the NFL should avoid putting a second paywall for playoff games its not in their best interest but if games are on cable why not a streaming service?

  16. With the weather likely being "ugly" this is likely going to be a 50/50 knuckleball-type game. The Steelers have a really strong defense and an offense that while not the best has some pieces (Harris is playing better and Pickins has looked alive) they also have a solid ST unit. The Bills are going to have to play big defensively and offensively not turn the ball over while running the ball conventionally well.

  17. All the Fins had to do was hold onto a 14-point lead with a few minutes left against the Titans and they would be the two seed. They beat the Cowboys they took care of the Jets they just had to beat the Titans with a lead late in the game. Well the Fins faltered and the Bills gave themselves a chance to win the division in the final week.
