Pete, it’s not doom and gloom.  It’s widely reported we are the most over the cap team in the league.  We’ll need to restructure, reduce, or release and prioritize current players.  The good news is we have 10 picks.  You may want to actually look it up before you rant about me providing objective facts.

I still think we will be very competitive with what we can keep and what we can choose in the draft.  I have faith in Beane and company.  I also have faith in McD’s team being able to coach up players.  That’s not doom and gloom.  That’s pragmatism.

Last I saw the Dolphins are in worse shape than us.  I think the Titans and Saints are in worse shape than us.  We are bottom 5, but not the worst

We have the worst cap situation in the NFL.

The adjective worst describes the thing that is the least good, like this awful pizza, the worst we've ever had in our lives. Don't confuse worst with worse, which compares only two things. Your cold might be worse than your brother's but dad's is the worst of all.

Hey Mr Hyperbole, could we please stick to facts?   Please spare us the gloom and doom.  The Bills future is bright!

  3. The Bills are going to trade up.  Everyone knows Buffalo needs WRs.  Teams are going to trade ahead of Bills and draft a WR.  We did it to Dallas with Dalton.  KC did it to us, when we drafted Elam.

There is a consensus top 3.

Mitchell has elite skills, and is the players Bills covet IMO.

If Mitchell makes it to 20(someone please overdraft Worthy), the Bills trade up and get their #1 WR- that’s my prediction

The combine made this far more difficult than I was expecting. Still have Harrison, Nabers, and Odunze as the top-3 and will be long gone. Here’s my ranking as of today:

Marvin Harrison Jr. - Ohio State

    Malik Nabers - LSU

    Rome Odunze - Washington

    Brian Thomas Jr. - LSU

    Adonai Mitchell - Texas

    Ladd McConkey - Georgia

    Xavier Worthy - Texas

    Xavier Legette - South Carolina

    Keon Coleman - FSU

    Troy Franklin - Oregon

    Ja’Lynn Polk - Washington

I highlighted Thomas Jr, AD, and McConkey as likely targets. Thomas Jr will not make it to 28 but I would consider a trade up if the draft falls in a way that makes sense. AD might need to hop a few spots but will possibly go in the early 20s, McConkey should be there but I want to wait until pro days before being committed.

Worthy I have a 2nd round grade on but absolutely can see someone grabbing him round 1 based on speed alone. Legette looks like a man among boys but his total body of work isn’t as impressive as others (doesn’t mean he isn’t good, but he was a late bloomer. Is that because he was 3-4 years older than some of his competition or Did he turn a corner?)

Coleman and Franklin I had as late 1st/early 2nd grades on but can see some people push them straight to round 2 based on the combine performance. Coleman had a slow 40 but moved well during drills. Franklin had a good 40 but didn’t perform as well during drills. I’ve said it before that they shouldn’t have their stock lowered that much, but I would not be surprised to see them miss round 1 unless they rebound well during pro days. **These two are still great options and I have confidence they will look better in the coming weeks**

Polk is the one guy I don’t think moved up or down for me at all. He’s a 2nd rounder, and a good one. There’s just too many other dudes who do something a little better overall than him. Again, quality player, but he’s not going round 1 barring something crazy

If Mitchell makes it to 20, the Bills should trade up IMO.  Immediate #1 WR.

Mitchell, Diggs, Shakir, Dalton - Josh F-ing Allen.  There was a stretch years ago where the Bills didn’t punt.  2024 Bills this offense would rock!   Bills punter would be cushiest gig.  You can’t stop us KC.

if Bills made that lightning move, I bet KC and other foes trade up and their is a big WR run

I don't have Franklin or Coleman above McConkey after today.

I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about Brian Thomas Jr., Xavier Worthy, and Adonai Mitchell as 4, 5, and 6. If you think after today that McConkey will go higher than any of them - that's crazy.

Adonai is whom I realistically most want the Bills to draft.  Harrison-Nabers-Odunze-Adonai- Thomas- Ladd is my board.  That makes Ladd the 6th WR off board.,  I like Worthy, but I much prefer Ladd due to better hands and route running, production, size, and burner speed(not as fast as Worthy, but 4.4 will take the top off).  Ladd is a much more complete, NFL ready player IMO

Thomas could be gone. Worthy could be gone. Thomas, Worthy, and Mitchell? I doubt it. I find it very hard to believe we'll only have a shot at the 7th WR in the Draft. Odds are probably pretty good we'll move up a few picks from 28.

    McConkey is 6'0", 185, and has a 36" vert (Worthy had a 41" at 6'1", for example).

He doesn't have the measurements that scream True Outside WR in the NFL. His weaknesses from NFL.com also don't fit on the Outside:

    - Modest play strength could create issues in beating press.

    - Alarming number of deep ball-tracking drops in 2022.

We'll have a shot at the 5th WR. We can definitely land the 6th WR. McConkey isn't a great fit for us and will be, at best, the 7th WR off the board from NFL teams. And personally, I have him no higher than my 8th guy.

Scouts have Ladd rated much higher than you and NFL.com.  Fact

Franklin and Coleman blew their combine, and both will slip to day 2 IMO

36" is no joke at WR.  Its not elite, but 6' jumping 3 feet is a big target

  7. People might not like McConkey at 28, but what do they know about him?  He runs a 4.4, he catches everything, he has been ultra productive, and he runs crisp routes.

15.4 yards per reception, and YAC- that is what the Bills need!

Look, McConkey is my 6th rated WR in this draft, but 5 stellar WR will be selected before Buffalo.  And no way in hell do I want McConkey to slip to the Chefs.

Had a pretty good Combine. Here’s the summary:

    40 yard dash: 4.47

    10 yard split: 1.51

    Vert Jump: 40”

    Broad Jump: 10’ 11”

    3 Cone Drill: 6.99s

    20 Yard Shuttle: 4.01s

    Bench Press: 14 reps

I have a late 3rd grade on him

40" is amazing hops.  That has to be a combine high

I see KC trading up ahead of us to grab a WR we want / need.  They already did this with CB.

Bills will trade up and get their guy just so KC doesnt pull that ***** again

And if Knox hadn't missed a third of the year with wrist surgery? Honestly the people using 2023 as proof that they were "right" on Dawson Knox are premature in the extreme.

Many have an agenda, and myopically have a 2023 takeaway "Knox can't catch" and they willfully discard the Info that Know was playing with broken wrist.

My takeaway, (having broke my wrist before) is that Knox is an even tougher MFer than I thought.  Respect

He demands a lot from the Safety position. Unfortunately, between Hyde not being REMOTELY the same player he was returning from the neck injury and then Poyer, who had shown some decline the year before, falling off a cliff last year - he got little to nothing from that side of the ball all season.

Hyde's a Free Agent. Even if he doesn't retire, which seems likely, we won't be bringing him back. And releasing Poyer can save us cap space.

Poyer is back. We are thin at Safety, Poyer brings back leadership and knowhow.  Poyer has been a warrior and excellent team player for Buffalo. IMO Poyer balled out playing LB last year.  Cam Lewis, Poyer, and Hamlin give use a trio of decent Safety depth at the very least.

The Bills need WRs, DL, Edge, and Safety as is.  I understand we wish to get younger.  But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.  Poyer will be back and contributing in 2024 IMO
