So you’re suggesting there was no element of luck involved. Not one iota. Out of thousands of people who have geology degrees, Terry just happened to have the knowledge to know exactly where to drill. And on the first shot no less. Look, I’m not discounting the hard work, skill and endless hours it took Terry to build his business. That said, this suggestion if there being no luck involved is both naive and preposterous. As with anything, there was an element of luck and being in the right place at the right time to this. But Robot seems to claim that simply having a geology degree is all it took. Puh-leeze jw

So, you’re saying, everyone with a geology degree is worth some $4 billion. Theyre finding gas and oil and gold and diamonds left and right and hand over fist. And all we all needed to do was simply major in geology and we’d all be mega-billionaires, because that seems to be what you’re implying. Gees, I’ve gotta get me back to school, then, because this sounds like a sure shot. jw

No. They’re my friends, whom I look up to and respect. They asked the sometimes necessary and difficult questions as opposed to some of the pom-pom wavers in the room. It was Bucky who asked Whaley what he does exactly during to “not privy” news conference. It was Jerry who led the questioning on the Peterman experiment. Now there are fewer in the room to ask those questions and maintain a semblance of accountability. Unless, of course, you prefer the root, root for the home team propaganda you get from Murph. jw

yes. it was entirely Jerry and Bucky’s fault the Bills hired Rex, brought back Marv, made Russ GM, drafted Maybin and EJ, lost to the Cowboys on Monday night, broke Losman’s leg, punted from the opponent’s 35, favored Bon Jovi, and, of course, locked Mike Williams in his dorm room during training camp. I’m probably missing a dozen more things, but yes, they turned the Bills into a joke. Abso-posi-freakin-lootely jw

here's the actual irony. for all of those who claim Jerry was negative, it's quite apparent you folks don't read your own message board. there are and continue to be far more caustic takes here than anywhere else. this is where doom and gloom has resided and festered for lo, so many years. and yet, of course, people need their straw man in order to focus upon their blame. it's all too convenient and lazy and predictable. yes, these are the same things Jerry has been accused of here. i find it laughable that some here suggest they will now consider subscribing to The Buffalo News. please, come forth with proof of this happening. i dare you to show me how wrong i am. go ahead. subscribe now that Jerry's gone. otherwise, i accuse the haters here of the same thing they accuse Jerry of: Bull and Sh@t. jw

Buffalo News in financial trouble

this post reflects how low a person you are. to go so far as to desire something bad to happen to a group of people and their families is as ignorant as ignorant gets. and then to have two people actually like it. i see we've reached the shallow end of the pool here. jw -

Sure. It would've been the smart move to make. Unfortunately, as JohnC notes, the Bills so mishandled the situation that it lead to Peters' departure. So not only did they lose Peters, they overpaid for Dockery and Walker, who they wound up on the hook paying after both were gone within a couple of years. It was a breath-taking example of really how inept the Bills were. jw -

stop that. that's horribly insensitive comment referring to a person who was highly respected in his field and did a fine job in representing his clients and protecting their rights. you might not like some of the ramifications of what happened, but if I had a son playing in the NFL, Parker would have been the agent I would want representing him. there were few more responsible or better. jw -
