  1. I don't think the Bills can use retreads to build this team and sustain any level of success. I can't think of any franchise that has been successful doing it and I hope the Bills just hold onto their $$ so they can pay their own (assuming they eventually draft players worth keeping).

I agree with this in theory, but at some point you need to put some players on the field. A player or 2 with toughness and a mean streak (Landry, Harrison) would be a nice way to change the culture around OBD.

Tons of need at LB, but I guess M. Williams and Anderson could line up as 3-4 LB's.

  2. I have DTV and have only had the sunday ticket 3 out of 13 years, DirecTV is far superior in quality, amount of real HD channels, and customer service, I wouldn't have comcast to save my life.

Agreed, I've had DTV since 1999 (Sunday Ticket the whole time too). I love their DVR, picture quality and the way they treat loyal customers. I would never leave for cable. DTV on the go is great now too, turns your Ipad into a TV.

  3. I hate this but I guess it's the culture we're living in. But honestly, there are people who are just physical freaks and don't need to do roids. I could put up 300+ lbs. bench weighing 185 lbs. and never did a supplement in my life. And I couldn't sniff the NFL. The main thing I think players do is take things to help them recover, which I really don't have a problem with.

And I love Simmons and Grantland but he comes across as a bitter, whiny Pats here. The Pats were filled with cheaters (Harrison, Bruschi, etc.). Yet, I never saw those articles from him. He's a really good writer though, jsut a bit of a homer.

He's a huge homer, and never shys away from that. He's made references to the fact that he turns a blind eye to the Red Sox and their probable cheating. I think it would be great to ask him if he would have written the article if Lewis was a patriot and they were in the bowl. If he was from Buffalo and became one of the most prominent sports writers in the country, we would love his unabashed love for the home team. He just happens to cheer for teams we hate. Anyway, I've been a Simmons fan for years and still think he is a great writer, especially an article like this one.

  4. Ray Lewis got the antler spray more then 2 years ago. Back when many people where using it, including Roy Williams and Heath Evans, who where both openly promoting it in the media. Former Oakland head coach Hue Jackson was involved with the company aswell. I don`t think the spray was illegal intially, until the league put a stop to it. Mitch Ross lost a lot of clients at that point. This is just a PR stunt by Mitch Ross, who is the owner of SWAT, trying to promote his business.

And Grantland has never written anything worth reading.

How could you determine that without reading everything ever written there? Weird. I thought it was a very good read, as is most stuff on that site. Bill Barnwell is worth the price of admission alone (which is of course, free). Simmons makes some great points about the media and their hands off approach to PED speculation.

  5. All the guys on Mike and Mike this morning (Billick, Mort, Schefter) are saying this doesn't affect his draft status at all. I just don't see it. This is a guy that will be the leader of your defense. Whatever the explaination of what happened, there are questions about his personality. Either he is a weirdo, creepy guy that would be a laughing stock in the locker room, or a naive fool that spent his senior year as the BMOC in a "relationship" with someone he didn't ever see.

Either way, I don't see him as the intense on field leader we need.

  6. I will bet your glued to your seat for that touch football game. I am thinking about A new QB and major help at LB. I guess you could care less that your team su#$%.

What a strange leap in logic about the OP. I don't care about the game and would take wins over pro bowl nominations any day, but it's still an honor for a player to be named and nice to see some Bills on there. Not sure why that means I don't care about my team su#$% (whatever that means).

I think CJ, Levitre and Byrd make the team.

  7. You haven't seen anything but the Bills games I guess. You should watch the rest of the league and the opposing teams that the Bills play. At least 6 runners better than CJ.

I don't know about 6 better, not this year anyway. Bill Barnwell (maybe the best football writer going right now) had CJ as his AFC All Pro RB. Behind AP, yes, but after that, maybe only Lynch has had a more impressive season.

  8. As Beerball pointed out his numbers are not strong enough to warrant any type of talk about the greatest of all time. When he is year in and year out among the best 3 backs it will change. Also, who cares how many yards CJ gets and how many number of this or that when all that matters is wins.

If we are judging by wins, then Sanders wouldn't be that high on the list either. Comparing the 2 is not relevant at this point, CJ is not close yet. The one thing I will say is that I get excited everytime the ball is in Spillers hands. You just never know when he's going to break one off, or bounce to the edge and turn a 2 yard gain into a 12 yarder. That is the same feeling I got watching Sanders.

AP's season has been amazing. Hard to believe he is just a year removed from ACL surgery. I love watching AP just punish defenders, he can go around them, or right through them.

  9. And then he choked in OT. Tony Romo.....the single most un-clutch QB to ever get so much love from major network analysts

Don't know if he choked, just didn't score and then a fluke play cost the team the game. He had 416 yards, 4 tds and 0 ints. Probably a better game than Fitz has ever had.
