  1. If we can get a starting caliber WR in FA and a draft pick, maybe worth it. But how many starting WR are available that we would be paying less than we pay for Evans in 2010. Also, draft pick in which round would we get for a receiver that is old, cant' catch more than 56 balls, and is not a starter (according to some on this board). If I was a GM, I wouldn't give anything. I could get a free-agent and pay $1 mil to get what some people claim Lee Evans is. Truth is, Lee Evans is a lot like Eric Moulds. A very good receiver, and an decent starter, who just ended up on a bad team. If on a team like Indy, they would have been regulars at the pro-bowl.
  2. Yea. Lee Evans sucks, and wouldn't be better than practice squad for other teams. T.O. is such a stud. Look at the numbers he put up with our QB's. .... ... Oh wait, T.O. had the worst year in his career. Could it possibly be that our QB's couldn't get the receivers the ball?????? Jerry Rice in his prime would be booed out of Buffalo, if he was on this team. Receivers can only make a catch if thrown to by the QB. QB can only throw a good pass if he is not on his back, or running for his life. So, receivers are not completely to blame, and neither is the QB. As a team, they stunk. Let's not mess with receivers and running backs right now. we need to strengthen from the line on out.
  3. Bell cannot play RT. He was very good against speed pass rushers trying to go wide, but usually performed poorly when the rush came the inside position. He could not handle bull rushers at all, and was weak as a run blocker. Bell needs to stay at LT, either starting or as a backup. I think we should just draft the best OT available, and play him on the side that best suites him. In fact, I think our RT prospects are poorer than our LT currently.
  4. That's all a lie. Bill Polian and anyone else named Bill (except Bills) don't make mistakes. Buffalo is the only team that make personnel mistakes, as I am told on this board.
  5. I like think this draft would be a success. Only thing I would change would be #7B - Michael Smith RB - N. Carolina State 5-9 180 lbs 4.37-40 We could use a change of pace, very fast RB, that can also be a good returner. We can then get rid of Parish.
  6. So we trade Lee Evans for a 3rd, maybe 2nd round pick. Then, everyone would be b1tching that we traded away another of our best player. We could also trade away Poz and Byrd. Why not trade them while they have value. Evans may not be the greatest ever, but who the heck is going to help the qb?
  7. Owens - Hardy and Johnson needs a chance to play Ryan Denny - don't care Keith Ellison - good backup Josh Reed - if he stays, needs to be strictly slot receiver Stupar - crowded position, can he still be on Practice team? Schouman - if he is healthy, can compete for start youboty - he would be a good dime and backup at corners kendell simmons - not healthy Chris Draft - bye bye McKinney - needs to retire Incognito - compete for starting spot at guard and center
  8. Free Agency: * NT (starter and rotation) Ryan Pickett * starting OLB (Scott Fujita or Angelo Crowel) * DE (starter and rotation) not much available for UFA * backup RB * OT (competition at LT) Mark Tauscher * OG (depth) * QB (competition) David Carr or Kyle Orton Draft: rounds 1 - 3: LT, QB, NT, DE, OLB mid rounds: DE, OLB, ILB, QB, T late rounds: RB, WR, G, DB, DT, QB
  9. If we trade Schobel, as some suggested here, I bet you many people would be blasting the Bills for trading him away when we don't have a proven pass-rusher to take his place. Remember Peters? People wanted him traded, me included. Then a lot of people on this message board started blasting them for trading Peter, without having a proven LT to replace him.
  10. If the new coaches want to, and can do as you wrote, I'd be ecstatic. I would love for them to be this creative with the personnel we currently have, plus a few new pickups. We wouldn't have to scrap all our front 7 players since they don't fit into the traditional 3-4 style. Instead of spending the next 3 years re-tooling the defense, we may be able to do it in 1 year.
  11. 31 other teams could have had Aaron Schobel. all the teams could have had Jarius Byrd numerous times. Same with Jason Peters, which we got a 1st & 3rd for. I don't pretend to think the Bills have been great at drafting, but everyone could have had anyone. If everyone knew Tom Brady was going to turn out the way he did, he would have been the 1st pick in the draft. Instead, 31 other teams could have had him many times over.
  12. I say take the next best player on the board, other than db, wr, or rb.
  13. I would like to see if David Carr can have a Kerry Collins or even Todd Collins turn around. He has been learning behind Eli Manning, and that should be good for him. Maybe, he has learned and matured enough to be a good QB. I would like it if the Bills gave him a shot.
  14. In the 3 years at Buffalo, Trent had 3 different offensive coordinators. That is a good way to stunt a qb's progression. He has had 2 completely different o-lines, including numerous blind-side protectors. He took so many hits, which caused so many injuries. Our o-line would have shortened Brett Favre's career by many years. I don't know if Trent could have been a very good qb for us, for a long time, but the team has really messed him up. He would have to have his confidence rebuilt from the ground up, like a rookie. Hopefully, he will get his chance again to start somewhere.
  15. I am glad you finally see the error of you ways. Now, go out and spread the word my brother.
  16. I can see I am wasting my time trying to have a discussion with someone who seems to have a strong dislike for the Bills.
  17. In that case, who woul you take from the Patriots draft class in 2006 and 2007, to play for the Bills, besides Brandon Meriweather?
  18. We were comparing draft picks, the role of a GM. Whitner is not a probowler, but a steady player. also can play almost any DB positions. Youboty has the talent, but is injury prone. Williams is an excellent player for the Bills. Butler is a very good RG and RT. Ellison, we have such a hard time replacing him. Not too bad. That is just 2006. 2007: Lynch gave us a very good 2 years, and just needs to get his head on straight. Posluszny is a solid LB and still getting better. Edwards was supposed to be, and should have been the team's backup QB. Wendling is a special teams monster. Schouman is a good backup tight end. Some people just want to look at the glass as half empty.
  19. Lets compare to Buffalo, just for kicks. 2007 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position current team 1 12 Marshawn Lynch RB Buff 2 34 Paul Posluszny MLB Buff 3 92 Trent Edwards QB Buff 4 111 Dwayne Wright RB no team 6 184 John Wendling DB Buff 7 222 Derek Schouman FB Buff 7 239 C.J. Ah You DE St. L 2006 - Buffalo Bills Rd Sel # Player Position current team 1 8 Donte Whitner SS Buff 1 26 John McCargo DT Buff 3 70 Ashton Youboty CB Buff 4 105 Ko Simpson FS Det 5 134 Kyle Williams DT Buff 5 143 Brad Butler T Buff 6 178 Keith Ellison OLB Buff 7 216 Terrance Pennington T no team 7 248 Aaron Merz G no team Out of 16 players drafted in 2006 & 2007, 11 are currently still on the team, and 8 players went into the season as starters. Levy doesn't sound too much of a dunce in player evaluation if you compare him to Belicheck and Pioli.
  20. Take a look at 2 years of drafting by the Patriots, which Pioli was involved in: 007 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position current team 1 24 Brandon Meriweather NE 4 127 Kareem Brown DT Tenn 5 171 Clint Oldenburg T Was 6 180 Justin Rogers LB KC 6 202 Mike Richardson DB KC 6 208 Justise Hairston RB Buff 6 209 Corey Hilliard OT Det 7 211 Oscar Lua LB no team 7 247 Mike Elgin G no team 2006 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position current team 1 21 Laurence Maroney RB NE 2 36 Chad Jackson WR Den 3 86 David Thomas TE NO 4 106 Garrett Mills RB Minn 4 118 Stephen Gostkowski K NE 5 136 Ryan O'Callaghan T KC 6 191 Jeremy Mincey LB Jax 6 205 Dan Stevenson G no team 6 206 Le Kevin Smith DT Den 7 229 Willie Andrews CB no team How many are starters, and how many are still on the team? Out of 19 players drafted in 2006 & 2007, Only 3 are still on the team, and Only 2 are starters (1 happens to be a kicker!) Some drafting geniuses.
  21. As the saying goes, if you get knocked off your horse, you get back on your horse.
  22. Here! Here! I totally concur. But, this is not the first and won't be the last time Buffalo gets turned down. Years ago, Marvin Lewis interview, but turned down the job because his wife didn't want to come here. Oh well.
  23. Yea. He should have sold it a long time ago, and then the new owners move the team to LA. They would have no allegiance to western NY, and no long history like Wilson. That would have been so great if he sold the team while he was in his 70's, and the Kelly era could have happened in another city. The sooner the team leaves his possession, the sooner the team will leave Buffalo. The new owners aren't going to be happy with the small marketing money to be made here. There are over 70 cities that are larger than Buffalo, and could garner them more money.
