  1. We need to run the football... We ahve players that can run the football. Gailey is doing what he said - he is adapting to what we got. When you have 2 pro-bowl level running backs, the quickest level to success on offenses is building your team around that. this is not a bad move at all. a QB coach will be important, obviously, but OC in his system is not nearly as vital as the DC. Dan reeves for AC though...
  2. my guess is the OC will also be QB coach as well. so this would be a nice joint venture for Frank, and yes, it be nice for bills fans too. I also would love to have metzelars working with our OL. Howard Mudd is probably the best in the business. yes better then mcnally...
  3. edwards has BETTER NUMBERS then fitzpatrick! why would you dump a better backup?
  4. he could stammer as bad as reggie corner, idon't give an F about appearence. this aint a beauty contest. these guys talk football seriously, live it and breath it. they both have track records of success. and frankly, 2 guys from SEC country, the heart of hte best players in America, says a lot to me. i love it. plus buddy is freaking hilarious
  5. id love dean peas... which means we won't get him and will stick with the 4-3 lets just hope Bates runs it differently, because I think Fewell did a great job - we just couldnt get our defense a rest. I'm actually not all that upset with it, if we could add 1 good LB and get another DE (or maybe plays OLB more often).
  6. and finally if you need an article to explain how important blocking is, look no furhter then Ken East's own greg easterbrook: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl
  7. and who better to learn from then mcnabb. and if not, vick might not be the worst qb to show tebow how important it is to run less and pass more. i was originally against vick, but his last season as a starter in atlanta showed he was becoming a far better passer. i actually think he might work out well and i wouldn't be upset if we got either vick or mcnabb to run things with tebow developing (or lefouver).... but that means we gotta say by by to one of the fan favorites - fitzbackup or trentified... id rather keep trent personally. hes had better all aroudn numbers then fitzie
  8. there are some dumb posters on here. but you are towards the top. obviosuly we have no line. but the answer is not to suddenly get a scrambling qb - ala vick or tebow. the answer is to fix the line and then get the right QB. if you own a house, you don't suddenly put in a new furnace and AC unit when the foundation is all jacked up. you fix the most important, essential part of the house first, then you put in those parts that make the house function and run. the line is the most important part of an offense. show me a team that has won a superbowl without a great O-line. thre hasn't been one. the closest i've seen were the cards with mike gandy, and we know how that turned out. mcnabb is also no where CLOSE to washed up. he very well has 2-3 solid seasons left. he still has great arm strength and the ability to read a defense, two things this team lacks. sure, his accuracy is not at 65% but he doesn't need to be. he'd be a nice upgrade for 2-3 years especially if we drafted tebow or lefouver to sit behind him and learn.
  9. just remember that 90 minute drive if we move to toronto...
  10. agreed or in the 3rd. To be honest, QB is not as important to us as our OL at this point. And there are not that many NFL ready qb's this year. we may be better off getting Lefouver or tebow later (plus they probably have as much upsde as mccoy or bradoford) and focusing on the lines and LB. anyone who thinks Claussen, McCoy, or Bradford is the right move at 9 has to have their head examined. none of them are locks to be even remotely as good as Sanchize and he wasn't vey good this year. In addition, as everyone should know by now, a good QB is useless behind a non existent OL. And Bell and Butler are NOT the answers long term. see D'brickshaw ferguson if you want to see what tackles should look like... draft: 1st round - OL or McClain if there 2nd - OL/DT/DE/LB 3rd - DT/DE/LB 4th - QB (if lefouver or tebow still around)
  11. modrak isn't going anywhere. he isn't, and hasn't been, the problem with drafting. its pretty apparent our FA has sucked and that "jauron guys" were being drafted every year. obviously, I have no stats and such, but based on modrak's rep around the league, his history in philly and pitt, an the way we have hit on a multitude of undrafted FAs - greer, Peters, etc I think it speaks well for him.
  12. overdorf is the captologist. most teams have this.
  13. when will people learn no QB is good iwthout an OL in front of him? Clausen, for starters, is very, very over-rated. that said, he would be even wrose then brady quinn behind this bills line. OL and DL in rounds 1and2, LB in 3, and DBacks the rest of the way hhahaha
  14. do you consider steve tasker a loseR?
  15. thats what the pats always do when they trade guys for 2s and 3s.... and they cost a ton less. of course, if a new CBA ever gets passed this wont matter. but yes, trading down to get 2, 3 or 4ths is smart. lots of value at a better price
  16. well when you write poorly about the GM, the owner, the players, the draft picks, etc someone in the organization is going to get fed up. If we had sully's way we would have had Marvin Lewis years ago, who, without Palmer, would be no where. I think Sully, at times, has some extremely valid points. However, he is half the writer Felser was. He seems extremely bitter and it comes across in his writing. the article with the parting shot "i give this a 20% chance to succeed" was retarded. ESPN was reporting Gailey would announce his assistants today. Guess what didn't happen? Well Media was wrong . I award them -1. the media keeps saying BIllick declined an interview, however he was on record as wanting to come here. Media -1 Only one source has ever mentioned the Jim Harbaugh thing - Casserly. Even ESPN and Fox Sports didn't write their own AP stories on that. Makes you wonder. The Media loved Herman Edwards. It loved Mariucci. It loved Billick. I don't see any of them getting interviews anywhere. I never agree with Florio. in fact, I think he's usually pretty off. However, his article about Gailey getting hired was excellent. It was as straight on as it could be from someone in the media. Finally, buddy, for not hiring Marty the coach I have wanted to 6 years. I have to award you -3. that was just dumb...
  17. except he never won a superbowl outside the NYG...
  18. wow. this is the worst news ive heard in the past 10 years. and I'm OK with teh Gailey pick. but i've wanted schott for a long time. a long time. with brian to come in and run the stuff when daddy is gone. would have been a great succession plan.. for the first time in my fanhood, I'm extremely, extremely upset with ralph. im still in shock. this is unacceptable.
  19. peter king, espn, schefter, etc all ripped the cowboys and chargers when they took turner and wade. well both those guys have carried on with good teams, even if they struggle in the playoffs. those same guys ripped the pats for getting bellicheck years ago, because he was a "retread" from the browns and wasn't a "hot" DC anymore. those same guys ripped the giants for getting tom coughlin too - his style was too "old school, too harsh" on today's players... if we haven't learned ANYTHING yet about the media, then we are just as dumb as perceive the bills front office to be. for once i actually heard honesty in someones voice - nix actually sounded exhausted when saying how many offers he's had. in addition, what we've learned, is the media isn't right that often... marvin lewis, romeo crennel, eric mangini, josh mcdaniels, herm edwards, greg williams - all great, "hot" coordinators, all haven't done squat in the NFL. russ grimm is so "hot" that 6+ teams have interviewed and passed over him. Everyone keeps saying Billick "turned the bills down" when in reality the bills never talked to him and rightfully so. he won based on the talent of Ozzie Newsome, not on his coaching merits. gosh the list is endless. for once, its nice to see - unlike jauron, williams, or mularkey (who i still think could be a good HC) - a guy who has 1.) won in the NFL 2.) knows what it takes to win and has backed it up with his teams and offenses 3.) doesn't bs about what makes teams, organizations, etc attractive - winning. he was around that a lot in the nfl. i'm not going to go into the whole GT thing - NCAA football is a lot about recruiting and being an ACC school in the heart of SEC country is no easy task. but i will say this - he landed 2 good players and developed them both - calvin johnson and tashard choice. that bodes well for his eye on talent. he also hired Les Miles on his dallas staff, which i've said repeatedly, which again shows an eye for football knowledge. thats it its 515am in okianwa goodnight folks...
  20. gray is the DB coach for seattle now
  21. well they were wrong on that... so far +1 for buddy in the truth department
  22. guy will not be renewed when his contract is up as many people have stated. they may bring in someone from outside or elevate a scout from within to fill that void (or see if modrak wants to take on pro personnel). modrak and nix running a draft actually makes me feel comfortable. these are two "football" junkies. guys that eat and sleep this stuff for 30,40 years. for once, i actually trust that our draft might turn out decent, especially because this past one has nix's hands all over it. maybe, just maybe, ralph got "lucky" one last time. ok thats too much optimism for one night. soo long from okinawa...
  23. if feelings were worth nickels....
  24. did anyone else notice they drafted Dexter Coakley as a DB? he ended up a really solid, probowl linebacker... interesting. flozell adams, ekuban and ellis were all excellent hits. i'd like to see buddy and chan draft on either side of the line this year and next. if there is a next....
  25. he's a guy cowher wanted to succeed him in Pittsburgh. he's had success and frankly, isn't a bad coach. he knows what wins games and thats the lines and running the football. it's really not a bad hire. he's not cowher but hes not haslett either...
