Pardon me, but I have seen no reasonable discussion from you on this issue. Where is the "If this, then that" in your argument? You simply assume the worst. Maybe you think that's reasonable, I don't. Nor do I think "everything is fine here, nothing to worry about" is fine. When I find you weighing the alternatives, discussing all the possibilities, I will cut you slack. But when I see you pissing in the pool, on every issue, I will call you out.

"I will call you out." Spoken like an overly confrontational narcissistic megalomaniac. I gave reasons for my opinions, whether you choose to accept whether I did or didn't is out of my control and not something I care about. Enjoy your night, it's game day tomorrow.

What about watching tape. meeting with the OL, the WRs? Are you positive he was putting in the mental work? What about Thad? How about their personalities and dispositions. Do you know those as well?

You have an idea---and believe it completely, That's the problem, because you know nothing. And neither do I for that matter. The difference between us is, since I understand that, I try to consider all the possibilities. Your arrogance leads you to believe you have all the answers. I just wonder why those answers are always negative.

So, I tell you why I think what I think and you call it arrogance? Interesting.

I also gotta say, you're quite distasteful. I offer you my thoughts and you label me negative and arrogant. This aggression will not stand man. At no point did I suggest I had inside information or answers. Your proclaiming I said that doesn't make it so. I didn't. The problem with guys like you, Dean, is that you don't want discussion, you want argument and you want to conquer people with different opinions to make yourself feel superior. I feel sorry for you man. Learn to have a discussion even with people who have different views. And you'll find that you'll go a lot further if you don't inform people of what you've decided their opinions are. Good luck man, I really hope you can learn to have more cordial discussions because you're a smart guy, I can tell by how you write...but you're very rude and confrontational. I really hope you work on that. As for football, I'm done discussing it with you on this thread because I don't want an argument man.

At least in theory, part of the motivation could have been helping Tuel clear waivers for the practice squad

I like that! But I think Doug's to straightforward of a guy for that masquerade. But I like that idea. It's interesting.

Perhaps they weren't putting in the time/work that EJ was. Perhaps he saw no improvement with them, but did with EJ, Clearly the stakes with challenging your young, marginally talented, backups isn't the same as challenging your talented, #1 pick, starting QB. The truth is, I don't KNOW, Neither do you,. But I can think of some reasons why he may treat them differently. I challenge you to use your brain to think of some reasons of your own. If you can't imagine ANY reason why a coach uses different motivation for different players, I'd say you have a terrible imagination. Try to think through all the possibilities.

And I believe I can imagine your response/

I reject the notion the Tuel wasn't putting in the work. He was in great shape and according to reports he put in the time.

I've an idea why EJ didn't receive any 'rise to the challenge' call outs and I imagine my ideas differ from yours. Which game was it that EJ confirmed to the media that EJ did a good job because his coaches said so? I seriously don't remembers hitch game it was...this preseason was one big blur of offensive ineptitude.

I lived in an area with bad pizza and pedestrian subs. The best solution was, pizza subs. Not terrible (not great, either).

    Well said. And spot on.

Perhaps he can see EJ doesn't need the extra motivation. Maybe he knows EJ is putting enough pressure on himself and doesn't need more. The stakes are less important if you are wrong with a backup.

Now, I don't know that this is the case, but I would think you might actually think of this possibility on your own, if you actually tried.

Motivation? That was Tuel's and Lewis' issue? Don't think so. It's ridiculous. I wouldn't think that of either those two and I don't think motivation is the issue with EJ.

Either way, Woods needed a wake-up call. Twice in the preseason we saw him look for the ball late, which indicates concentration issues. There was at least one other time where he and EJ weren't on the same page.

Marrone knows that he can't afford Woods falling into the typical 2nd-year slump.

Don't read to much into this but it's true...if EJ was as good of a QB as Woods was a receiver we'd all be better off.

  6.

How is Jackson better? They basically have the same career numbers across the board. EJ had a 112 qb rating last preseason and won the job before he got hurt.

How many teams are looking for competition with their #1 qb? And there have been zero questions on his work ethic.

I said TJax > Kolb, not EJ.

I bet the locker room is divided over QB's, just as a i feared

I heard Schoop say Bob Woods called out EJs play which created the riff between he and Marrone.

  7.

    Competition makes everyone better.

I agree. And that's why I'm concerned. I always got the impression Marrone never wanted competition for EJ. Marrone got rid of TJax who was better than Kolb. He didn't want any new QBs this off season and if rumors be true he got upset about the Orton signing. I'm not saying 'fire Doug' but he's losing the fan base. If they get out to a bad start it's not going to go well.

  8.

Of course, he's going to do everything to boost EJ's confidence. Why would he do anything else? To appease fans with a good press conference? It serves no purpose.

Why would he publicly critize the backups? Why would he not care about their confidence. Our backups played 6 games last year...it served no purpose to openly critize them but Doug did. I think you missed my original point. My point wasn't 'Doug should openly critize EJ' but 'why would Doug critize Jeff and Thad but coddle EJ?

  9. I can't imagine Marrone would not want Orton just in case of a EJ injury.

    I can.

It's so odd to see him say he wasn't pleased with the backups. To me that'd be fine but he wouldn't say anything close to 'EJ could have done better.' I believe Marrone is very concerned about EJs confidence and doesn't want the fans to start chanting for another QB during a game.

  10. Still, Eli at the beginning of his career is a pretty good comparable for EJ (Eli was actually pretty terrible early on, but showed flashes). And Eli, a QB of high pedigree, still sat behind Warner for awhile.

I'm going to be labeled a heretic by the EJ faithful for this... But, Eli was viewed as a can't miss prospect deserving of a top 5 selection. EJ was viewed as a fringe 2nd rounder who went 16th overall.

  11. Would you care to explain this probability with some reasoning?

That could be taken several ways. It could be the ol' Kneejay knock or an indictment on the offensive line...

Either way I will say that physically EJ has improved... you can tell he's stronger this year so hopefully he'll stay healthy.

  12. EJ had tenth best rookie season EVER! Choke on that crow... Your assessment is garbage.

Stats can be moved to sway arguments how you want to sway them. Data can be used to prove climate change and disprove it. It depends on how you look at it. But if you went on EJs film as opposed to stats there is no way anybody could make that argument. In the past 10 years EJ's rookie campaign wasn't in the top 10. He wasn't even the best last year by stats.

Also, we don't need anybody to choke on anything just because they disagree, man.
