  1. lets assume the bills tag and attempt to trade Byrd. Eugene Parker announces to the world that Byrd will NOT sign a long term contract with any team. guess what.....a weak trade market. will any team give up something better than a third rounder to rent Byrd for half a season when he pulls his 100% healthy crap ?
  2. if tagged, what is Byrd's trade value ? the 97th pick (end of 3rd round) ?? that is what the bills would get in the form of draft compensation for losing a top free agent, if they let him walk. or could the bills do better by trading him themselves ??
  3. Byrd does NOT want to sign with buffalo at any price. his immediate goal is to get to UFA. too bad, who cares what he wants, tag his azz. at $8.3 mil he is good value. if he plays his 100% healthy game, so what.
  4. People familiar with the situation told The Associated Press talks have stalled and no further discussions are scheduled after the Bills made a lucrative, multiyear offer to Byrd. Without revealing the full value and length of the offer, one person said Byrd would have been paid about $30 million over the contract's first three seasons. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10541752/buffalo-bills-talks-jairus-byrd-reach-standstill
  5. WEAKNESS !!! - letting Tyrd walk for nothing is the worst possible outcome. hey Russ, you just let agent Eugene Parker school you again. SHOW SOME STONES and tag his azz. worst case scenario we pay $8.3 mil for half a season. best case scenario you pick up a draft choice by trading him.
  6. hold on to your hat......the best option is for the Bills to go on the offensive in what is going to be a PR battle. the Bills should announce they offered 5 years, $50 million, with $30 mil Guaranteed, structured with zero dead money in year 4. let Byrd turn it down, which he will. he covets UFA. then most fans will be upset with Byrd and side with the Bills. franchise tag him, then trade him. if he accepts, you have an Elite player for 3 years after which you can cut him if need be. it's not the end of the world to overpay by $1.5 mil on an elite player assuming the bills think $8.5 is fair and $10.0 gets it done. either way, the bills have $10 mil to spend on improving the team. the bigger issue is, will they spend up to the cap limit.
  7. the franchise tag values are a fixed percentage of the variable salary cap. it just so happens there was a significant increase this year in the salary cap as compared to recent previous years.
  8. Incognito on taking bat to his car: I was just venting http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/28/incognito-on-taking-bat-to-his-car-i-was-just-venting/
  9. I say he was told he had to go to rehab by his agent BEFORE smashing the car. the car and bat was his reaction to the news.
  10. pay the man....he's worth it.
  11. well deserved. First Team All-Pro 2011 & 2013 6 time Pro Bowler after leaving buffalo 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, injured, 2013. what a shame the bills didn't pay up at the 2nd most important position on the team. getting a solid Eric Wood out of that draft pick compensation softened the loss. but make no mistake, the bills lost in that deal.
  12. 1 - Houston - Bortles 2 - Atlanta - Clowney 3 - Jax - Bridgewater 4 - Cleveland - Mack 5 - Oakland - Manziel 6 - St Louis - Robinson 7 - Tampa - Matthews 8 - Minnesota - Lewan 9 - Buffalo - Watkins
  13. (laffin).....it's not happening. if they did sign him long term (not a disaster thing) I hope they structure the contract that all the guaranteed money is paid off in 3 years, so if they wanted to, they could cut him after 3 with no dead money.
  14. it means nothing special. his history of tweets is filled with positive, inspirational and spiritual messages.
  15. absolutely NOTHING is going on... except Russ trying to create the appearance that he is conducting a full evaluation... you know, because less than 12 months ago, he made a hasty and uninformed decision.........(laughing) the season tickets are being held up, because they are going to offer Toronto tickets at a discount to STH and russ / rogers are working out those details.
  16. at #4 - Khalil Mack at #26 - QB
  17. If the Buffalo Bills are pulling the plug this year on their annual Toronto series, we'll find out by next week. That's when the NFL club finally intends to mail out season-ticket renewal forms, a team spokesman said in an e-mail Wednesday. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/02/26/have-bills-played-last-game-at-rogers-centre?two-bills-drive
  18. guess the meeting with Byrd went about as well as the meeting with rogers communications about the Toronto series. NOWHERE !!
  19. take the best player available......unless it's a QB - Doug Whaley unreal.
  20. combine 40 times Byrd: 4.68 Clowney: 4.53 Barr: 4.66 Mack: 4.62
  21. Aaron Williams and DaNorris Searcy combined make $2.5 mil. our record was slightly better when byrd did not play last season. with the $7.5 mil savings you can plug a different hole.
  22. sure sounds like Russ Brandon and Jim Overdorf do ALL the negotiations. whaley seems to come up with the priority list and assigns a dollar value range.
  23. I call "elite" anyone in the Top 5 at their position. Byrd is elite.
