  1. Preferably, I would rather have the Bills draft a blue chip WR prospect who can blow coverages off the top.  Tremendous speed with track record of production.  Such as a Franklin, Worthy and possibly Legette.  Legette worries me a bit because he is unrefined and has only one season of good production but that size/speed/build combo is appealing.

I would also like to see the Bills use another early to mid rounder on a WR who is a twitchy, polished route running technician who can separate and this draft seems primed to have a number of those sort of potential prospects.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a number of day 2 and 3 picks who go on to be very good receivers in this league.  We just have to hit on those picks.

  2. Is there anyone seriously criticizing Joe Brady's gameplan and how Allen was executing it.   It was nearly flawless, there may have been a couple run calls that I would have dialed something in differently in the 4th quarter and in hindsight maybe Josh should have passed the ball to a crossing Diggs but it's less than a handful of plays and even so, Josh was looking to see if that play would develop to Shakir and it did and unfortunately Jones got just enough of Allen to not be able to throw that ball accurately to Shakir.

Yes, you could argue that the situational awareness for Allen should have been to throw the immediate open guy in Diggs to run down the clock but he was looking to take the lead.

Brady and Allen both were an A + and neither were the problem.

  3. If I were to have a hot take takeaway from this last game its that we need guys who can be explosive down the field threats.   Those 3 dropped passes were killers and it was clear that the strategy for that game was first look to see if something he liked visually was there for the down the field and if it wasn't he dumped it off.  I thought it was a great gameplan and execution and for that matter discipline from Josh Allen.   Unfortunately our WR's failed us with those 3 drops.

  4. A few points:

    - Yes, he should have addressed the media, it's what leaders do.  Fans do matter and as a leader you have to face the music for these press conferences.

    - Diggs is a leader in the locker room, he works as hard as anyone and he cares deeply about winning.  Let's just stop pretending that he is apathetic.

    - Something happened to Diggs this year and I still believe that he was playing through some sort of nagging injury.  I find it hard to believe that someone plays great all their lives and from one day to the next they become a very middling receiver.  Something happened.

    - Diggs was not the player we needed this last half of the season and for that matter during this game.  He made a huge mistake with the drop and it certainly was a contributing factor to losing the game.  We needed a good version of Diggs and we didn't get it.

    - I'm concerned with Diggs play moving forward, I do think he will improve from what we saw over the past 3 months next year, but I'm concerned until he begins showing that he is still "him".

    - At the very worst, you still keep Diggs and don't even consider trading him (unless you get a too good to pass up trade offer) I wouldn't actively seek for it.  It's imperative that the Bills draft from my perspective at least 2 WR's with the first four picks.  Look at Green Bay, they drafted all these young WR's over the past 2 years and they are beginning to show out.  It's time we do the same and find our #1 and future #2 WR.   Diggs should be one of the top 2 WR's next year with a draft pick being the other.

Happens every year then Josh doesn't workout or practice all summer but he makes sure he hits up every golf course in the country. Maybe he should try out for the PGA.

I'm not saying he's the reason we lost, I just don't like all of this talk with no action. He should be calling up guys to run routes and workout. He needs to set the standard.

Guys in host of other sports have missed 365 + days for a single concussion. The league has zero players with roster sizes 2x-3x.

Take your kid to Dent neuro or the Cleveland clinic the day after their 5th concussion and see if they clear them to play sports 6 days later.

    They won’t do it.

I don’t believe he had a concussion.  I believe it was precautionary.

Its gonna be damn tough on this defense. McDermott needs to call up some well thought up blitzes, or zone dogs to keep Macrybaby in check

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us do the opposite.

I expect 4 man rushes to be the majority of the defensive snaps but I think McD will run more 3 man rushes than blitz packages.   Thats what Cincinnati did in the 2nd half against them when they came back and won the AFC championship game 2 years back

Just a few days ago I would have thought that Bernard would have been the last one to return out of that group, the fact that he may be available for this week is crazy.

I view that the distinct possibility of Taron, Douglas, Dodsen and Bernard playing this weekend as very encouraging news in the injury front.

If they all return we are very near full strength on the defensive front.

He's safe. He's always been safe.

Rightly or wrongly, anyone who thinks McDermott is anywhere near the hot seat is either:

    - Completely delusional in understanding his job safety with the Bills as a coach

    or

    - Has it in for McDermott and wishes for him to be replaced.

He’s not going anywhere, Pegula loves the relationship with McD, he trusts him and is very comfortable working with him, not to mention that McD has taken the Bills to the playoffs 5 out of 6 years and has won the division 4 straight years.

Josh was 15/30 145yds 1td in the wind game against the Pats, that wind was way worse than it will be on Sunday.

It was bad, 38 mph sustained winds with gusts around 60 mph.   Josh was able to throw 10 - 15 yarders effectively, in fact we didn't begin throwing the ball until the 2nd half when we came to a realization that he could make the throws.

I think the offensive game plan will consist of tons of running with some play action and I believe the play action could be very effective.

Allen has 63 carries over 7 games with Joe Brady, including 15 last week.

Hopefully the team is reminded how they got physically man handled by the Bengals to end last season and comes out playing mean

For me, that’s the key to the game.   The mentality has got to be one of toughness and nastiness on both sides of the ball.  Pound the rock, and be highly efficient in the play action pass game.

Josh can throw 20 yarders effectively in 20-30 mph winds, Rudolph cannot and that is one of the advantages.

The other advantage is Allen’s ability to run it very effectively.   They should look for him to run it 10-15 this game.

At the end of the day the game will be won in the trenches and Allen’s unique abilities.

Some folks have discussed limiting Scherfield and Harty snaps, but I would potentially look to pull Murray for Fournette this week.

I think Murray is pretty much done.

Murray started strong but really fizzled out. His 300 yards and 4 TDs w 3.8 YPC is a bit short of what I had hoped for.

He was a huge goat last week w a terrible drop and lackluster short yardage snaps. I'd look for someone new and fresh here.

Lenny has fresh legs, is a power back, can block, really good pass catcher and is a known player to produce during the playoffs.   We should totally make the switch.

  13. I had suspected that Diggs has been playing through an injury, for me this confirms it.

The week before he showed up on the injury report with a back injury he played 98% of the snaps and the week of the injury he played below 50% of the snaps.

He has progressively increased his snap count and I know this is an unpopular take, I thought he was getting a little more separation this last game.

Barring no setbacks he probably will get around 75% of the snaps this coming game and if the Bills win should be back to close to normal in about 3 weeks.

I do think he will play his best game since the injury against the Dolphins.
