  1. Right. My beef was with the offseason approach of signing guys like Ducasse--who counts against the formula and IMO doesn't belong on any roster--leaving them in a spot where this "cut someone to earn a comp pick" idea is even a discussion
  2. He used to work for the organization and has been employed by more than 1 pro sports franchise--he's provided solid info on multiple occasions. Indeed
  3. You could also point to the odd concession of suspension-related recouping of gtd $$ in the Dareus contract as a major indictment against Whaley as well.
  4. The Packers, Ravens, and Patriots strongly disagree with you The teams outlined above tend to shape their entire offseason approach around acquiring compensatory picks. There's something to be said for having a plan beyond today https://www.google.com/amp/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/02/24/compensatory-picks-are-a-reward-for-smart-teams/amp/
  5. Oh I remember this one: Jason Peters
  6. There it is... My other Bills-Cowboys one was a bit easier but also obscure: Who was the little-known defensive back that intercepted Troy Aikman 3 times in a Todd Collins-lead Bills' upset over Dallas in the late 90's?
  7. Wasn't sure--waaaaay before my time and I refuse to Google 😆
  8. Travis Henry, Corey Graham, Donte Whitner Maybe George Saimes as well??? Or am I thinking of Robert James?
  9. Nobody answered my question (not that it's a difficult one)... What Bills' player caught a TD pass in Jim Kelly's only victory over Aikman's Cowboys?
  10. Once had a squirrel in one of the offices at the engineering firm I worked at...
  11. 59 yards by Steve Christie. Which Buffalo Bill caught a TD pass in Jim Kelly's only victory versus the Troy Aikmen-lead Cowboys?
  12. He definitely wasn't, but it had as much to do with him playing to his responsibility as anything else.
  13. Hardly... http://buildingtheherd.com/film-room/marcell-dareus-buffalo-bills-secret-superstar-on-2015-defense-an-all-22-breakdown/
  14. Sucks? Dude, since 2011 (the year he entered the league), he ranks 6th in sacks by a DT. And that's with having missed half a season last year.
  15. Ducasse never should've been signed IMO...he's not a good player and he's an impediment to comp picks (and this team was in prime position to acquire valuable ones). The other guy that I wasn't thrilled with signing from a comp pick perspective was Poyer--I said all along that I'd have gone after a cap casualty like Bethea to fill that role. I have no problem with cutting Davis or Holmes to recoup a 3rd rounder as long as they aren't setting the world on fire...I just wish that some foresight had gone into their offseason approach so that they didn't have to resort to that.
  16. I don't think Ducasse makes the roster, so that's pretty easy. There's a few candidates that could challenge Ryan Davis for the 4th EDGE rusher spot, so I could see that happening as well. With Holmes, you'd only save $50k, so it would strictly be to acquire the comp pick.
  17. I'd like to think that they'll overcome injuries; of course, the question is always which player and how severe For a young guy coming off a solid year, there's only 2 paths: long-term/big-money deal or 1-year prove-it deal in a situation where you're likely to get the most snaps.
  18. If the team can add a safety from the crop on the market (Byrd, IAQ, Rashard Johnson) and lure Barnidge here, I'll feel a whole lot better about the level of competition to make the roster than I did a month ago.
  19. Whaley had a greater overall level of talent on the team in his tenure than Nix did. That was my statement.
  20. Your argument was that Nix had added a few players that were the team's most talented. I said that was debatable and cited names (which you have failed to discredit). Moreover, you still cannot seem to identify the point that I made, which was that Whaley had a greater overall level of talent on the team in his tenure than Nix did. Why you're choosing not to acknowledge this is because... No, there's no "worship Richie" movement. He's been selected to the pro bowl in 2 consecutive seasons, and so some folks (like myself) choose to identify him as a pro bowl guard. I know, I know, that's crazy talk.
  21. Well, 6 guards get selected to the pro bowl every year, and he's been selected the past 2 seasons. You can take issue with that metric (and belabor a tangential argument) if you want, but again, you're missing the point.
  22. McCoy was easily a top 5 at his position last year, and Richie has made 2 consecutive pro bowls, so perhaps slow your roll a bit on making those proclamations. And you're still missing the point.
  23. You could certainly make arguments for McCoy, Watkins, Hughes, and Richie, but that's not really my point. Take the level of talent that was on the team when Nix retired and compare it to the level of talent on the team 2 years later; there's no question the latter was greater.
  24. I think the analysis of Whaley is quite simple: - He didn't get it right at QB - He didn't get it right at head coach - He did, however, raise the level of talent on the team substantially from what Nix left him - He made acquisitions that vastly improved the OL and run game There's no doubt that the top 2 points far outweigh the bottom 2 in importance, which is why he's no longer the GM here.
