Report: Browns looking to deal Guard Kevin Zeitler

I'd probably go as high as a 3rd, but I'd try to get it done for a 4th -

Did you notice who his agent is? Joe Panos--who signed his biggest NFL contract with... -

Not really--the team that acquires him is only on the hook for his base salary, which means he can be restructured or extended at any point to save cap space (and he would get up-front money by doing so, so it's a win-win) -

Yes, but being the 4th movie doesn't mean it's not a sequel. -

Bills have interest in TE Dwayne Allen; visited 3/6
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. Basically a 6th OLman that can also catch a pass or two. -
Bills re-sign Jordan Phillips
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. If you just sort the above link by average salary as opposed to cap hit you'll see what I mean. Once you get down to $5M and below you are names like Beau Allen, Akeem Spence, Phillips, DaQuan Jones, etc. -
Rams' C John Sullivan to hit open market

Morse is probably a fair comparison, as is Cody Whitehair, though I think Whitehair was a bit better athlete. -

Just FYI--$4.5M is upper-end money for a rotational DL guy, so it's not really crazy. -
Jordan Phillips is trying to recruit players.

Let's just say that I don't think all of the feel-good week 17 stuff for Kyle, which happened to be against Miami, went unnoticed by his (and James') agent -

Released players don't count as compensatory FAs -

Telling you folks: JaWuan James is the name to watch. Not only were he and Phillips together with Miami for years, he shares an agent with Kyle Williams, Isaiah McKenzie, and Robert Foster. -
Betcha anything they try to bring him back at a lower cap hit

Carolina WR Devin Funchess unlikely to be extended
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, we can...but why overpay for a guy that frankly doesn't offer much upside? That's the point. If you're going to overpay significantly, do it for a guy that offers more than Funchess. Pay $15M for Golden Tate, or $12M for Adam Humphries, or $12M for Tyrell Williams. Any of those guys has more to offer in the upside department than Funchess IMO. -
Rams' C John Sullivan to hit open market
thebandit27 replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see a tackle in Risner; I see a guy that gets outmatched by good pass rushers on the outside. But he plays with really good pad level, and does an excellent job of working out to LBs. His play recognition is top-notch. To me, that spells center. Obviously I'd rather have Bradbury, but I'm not inclined to spend the No. 9 overall pick on a center. -

If you're only signing him to be a warm-body, then what's the point of paying him $10M? Spend $10M on a free agent if you're so inclined, but spend it on someone that's going to help you win football games. Remember, you can roll over unused cap space, so it's not going to burn a hole in your pocket. -

Yep...I think he's tailor-made for center with his recognition skills and anchorage. -

thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm actually not advocating for Funchess at all. I don't think he's the kind of guy that will particularly help this team. But, if he's coming here at all, the only way I'm okay with it is if he's competing for a WR3-WR4 job, and I'm not paying that guy $10M per year. Being smart with FA money doesn't mean not paying big contracts, but it does mean spending the money on guys that will be worth it in the long run. -

thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he took a modest deal I'd be okay, because in addition to a WR1, this team needs warm bodies at the position...but when I say modest deal, I'm talking an incentive-laden, one-year deal that tops out at $5M. -

thebandit27 replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he's Travis Frederick-like, so somebody is going to take him in the back half of round 1. Good news is that I think Buffalo could get a starting center in round 2 from the likes of Risner or McCoy if they wanted. If I'm going hard after either, it'd be Saffold, but make no mistake: the Rams have the chops to go for it this year. Goff is still on his rookie deal, and they don't have many FAs of note.
