  1. Its my understanding the shares of the team are held in trust and pass to his wife and kids upon his death. He wouldnt give it to them outright and the majority of tax implications are avoided, at least until one of them sells their share then im not so sure the implcations but i dont think they get assessed the full capital gains tax.
  2. Haha i knew i should have qualified it and said in the past week...... sorry i didnt go back 6 weeks to make sure.
  3. Just like the Tony dungy blows bc he lucky enough to have peyton, Bellichick only wins bc of brady, of the steelers won two superbowls bc of their defense. You can say that for any successful team. The NFL is not like college. none of you on this board were talking harbaugh until sullys article but like a bunch of middle school girls watching MTV its like "omg thats suuuuch a good idea"
  4. Not hard to be right when you criticize every move of a team that hasnt made the playoffs in 10 years,
  5. No no no. . You are referring to the elective share which is between 1/3 -1/2 of the elective estate- which is calculated diff in every state, some states dont even have the elective share so Ralph's wife might not be able to claim it in michigan. Even in states where the widow would get 1/2 it is reduced by the amount the widow has gained as a result of the marriage, which in this case i would assume is a lot. SO in all liklihood, Ralph's 2nd wife wont make out like a bandito and have his kids screwed. All speculation at this point bc we dont know what ralphs will or trusts mandate.
  6. Sully calls stanford a joke at one point in his article then later says harbaugh turned around a top program.....contradiction SO what if he was a QB in the NFL for 14 years, there are alot of coaches who were QBs caoching in the NFL (AVP- frank reich just off the top of my head--yea they were backups) Harbaugh might be a good pick but he has no NFL experience. This is exactly the type of pick the Bills dont need right now. they need proven NFL coaching not a wish and a dream from Sully. Had to expect the lemmings to agree
  7. true But if you think about it the idea is ridiculous. Assume for a minute the daughters did want the team. theyd still be faced with the dilemma assuming there was no plan in place. Now think of all the sports teams owned by families, that pass down through the generations....theres a few. They get by through the use of estate planning and trust entities. Its very complicated and highly specialized fields. People with that much wealth just dont let it get fully taxed, they take advantage of the law and maximize the money theyve earned.
  8. The plan has been in place for years and years. Just some people dont use common sense. Ralph is a very on top of it guy, he knows alllll about estate tax and proper entities were created and assets transferred to minimize the impact on his family. Hes very concerned with his legacy and doesnt want to be remembered as the owner who left his team in a mess. Do you really think a guy worth that much money is just gonna let his estate pass through the fed govt without protecting some of his assets? i mean really?
  9. - only beat Indys backups - He has pms - why didnt the bills give a random fan the change to play QB today to "see what hes got" (regardless of playbook knowledge etc) - marshawn - if they Bills had hired a GM sooner maybe they would won more games.
  10. sorry i was scanning this thread didnt see you had said earlier. TO is controversial and loud, he gets crap for off year Evans is quiet and humble he gets 9 million. im glad theres at least one other reasonable poster on here who doesnt take it personal and has some reasoning!!
  11. You dont pay for effort. You pay for results. Evans doesnt produce and is getting paid a ton. Im not defending TO here, im merely pointing out Evans gets a free ride all the time. For 9 million and change, tell me one game this year he has been a game changer?? I can really care less about TO, we paid him 6 million, he did better than our 9 million WR, TO will move on and thats ok but were stuck with what? some injured rookies and a #2 $9million WR named Evans? THere isnt one position on Offense i feel great about (maybe RB but jackson isnt a spring chicken by NFL standards)
  12. Yea its the reason why guys like A Rod making $25 million for the yankees dont get killed in taxes, they declare residence elsewhere........but dont tell that to the simpletons on this board..... The Bills might not be a desirable destination, but i think too many people here are obssessed with the weather factor..... the weather sucks soooo bad that ex players bills and sabres still live here even after they play for other teams....... or that we cant win with a QB who played a few years in warmer climate..... or that someone like cowher who coached in tropical Pitt wouldnt want to come here bc of that. Look the Bills blow, its a small city too, those are reasons enough.
  13. Player Rec Yds avg Long TD Terrell Owens 51 764 15.0 98 4 Fred Jackson 44 356 8.1 21 1 Lee Evans 40 563 14.1 50 6 Does this mean we should get rid of Lee Evans too? Hes making close to 9 millions a year(( http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...t=NFL&id=26 ))) and has awful numbers. I dont think TO was a great success on the field but Evans is a disaster. look at those numbers. We got a lot more bang for the buck with TO.
  14. i dont think anything is going to happen anytime soon. Monday theyll say theyre continuing the process and it will be thorough blah blah.....
  15. Its a private league. They can make that rule if they want to, nothing unconstitutional aboit it.
  16. Agreed!! THe line is a huge concern, esp since theres a good chance Wood might not be the same again.
  17. Aaron Rodgers (cal) is doing okay in frigid GB EIl Manning (miss) is doing okay in NY Brett Favre (s miss) did ok when he was in frigid GB Carson Palmer (usc) is doing ok in CIN A good QB can play in any weather condition. True the Bills have had no success with kids from Cali but that has more to do with them than where theyare from. I mean really? what are they bills supposed to do, limit their QB choices to the Northeast?
  18. a 3rd for troy smith? HA! what have you been smoking. a 3rd round pick is pretty valuable,
