Better tools? how so? Not height...not size...really not arm strength. How about mentally? Brohm has already shown to be in a bit over his head in the nfl...Bradford almost matched Brohm's entire collegiate numbers in his Junior year alone..It's amazing how quickly people forget things.
Please explain how he has shown to be over his head even though he has only played in one game...not to mention, the GB HC said no player in his entire career has ever grasped a playbook faster than Brohm.
And his arm is bigger than any in the draft, the only reason you doubt it is becuase all you know about Brohm is that he came from the GB practice squad. Based on college resumes (as thats all we have to go on) he is more accurate, has a bigger arm, and is as intelligent if not more intelligent than any QB in this draft.
PS: LOL at the fact you sight size as why the QB's in the draft have better skills...his size is more than sufficient to play in the NFL, and size is near the bottom of the list of intangibles that have the greater impact on NFL success...so who cares about size when his size is just fine to begin with

Of all the things said by Nix & Gailey, one thing should jolt the people who think Brian Brohm is our QB of the future into reality:
Gailey was noncommittal on the quarterback situation. He and Nix have discussed the status of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trent Edwards, but Gailey said he needs time to study the players on film before making an honest evaluation of them.
"I know both guys have had some success playing in the NFL, but they have not done it for a length of time with consistency," Gailey said. "Can they? We're going to decide that."
Brohm was not mentioned, because that's how little he is regarded by the guys in charge. He was a 3rd stringer plucked off a practice squad after nobody else was even willing to claim him off waivers just 1 year after being a 2nd round pick.
It's time to face reality, Brohm fans. He may be YOUR starting QB for 2010, but he will not be the Bills starting QB.
What? This says nothing to what you are implying it says...he just got hired for one, Trent and Fitz were clearly the established starters, so he addressed them in question. I love how Bills fans always find some negative way to spin things to create some kind of creative point that has really no relation to the quote...

I agree with your overall point, but imo, this franchise needs to stop d*cking around with the QB position and make a move for a premier talent and stop trying to find that 3rd/4th round stud that everyone passed up. At 9, there's a somewhat decent chance that either Bradford or Clausen will be there. If one of them is, we can't pass it up. (imo)
We cant pass them up? Why? Brohm has better tools than either of those guys and would have been drafted ahead of them if they were in the same draft...so how are you so certain when we need to draft one without gving Brohm a chance to show what he can do with the new coaches?
-
Bull ****. It is WELL past time to cut the BS and get a damn QB in here. I am sick of weak armed, weak minded POS' pushed on this fanbase and holding this team back.
We need a GOD DAMN QB!!!!
THe last thing anyone would call Brohm is weak armed...the only QB in his draft year with a stronger arm was Flacco and it wasnt by much...
Brohm is the equivalent of a high pick who has yet to get a full shot to play, so why is everyone so sure we still need to draft one, especially when this years QB crop isnt very impressive?
Bring in a vet or trade for McNabb if you want to have more certainty this year at QB, dont draft one high when we need to go OT early or LB/DL and give Brohm a chance to show he can be our guy for the future or not before you waste a HUGE contract on a questionable first round QB...

"...and so I'm sitting there with a beer in my hand, getting LOADED, when the phone rings. And it's Buddy Nix!...."
Best so far...lmao, nice one

Pants on the ground, pants on the ground. Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground.
Is this a thread about American Idol or captioning a picture of the newest Bills retread HC.
Apparently both since you keep spreading that song...
Congrats on being sucked in by the publicity train called American Idol...I will say this though, I cant help but respect how they continously mold the public like puddy in their hand and have been doing so this long. Its rather impressive I must say...
-
Daggum, the song goes "lookin like a fool with your pants on the ground."
Ralph warned me you media people twist everything.
Oh please, no more of that song...another horrible song made popular by American Idol just like that crap a few years back "She Bang"...
FYI to the public: When those people go in front of judges on TV they are really going through their 3rd or 4th audition, not their first. They go through a producers room in groups of 5 , then the best and worst get sent up to another producers room in groups of 5, then the best and worst go in front of the executive producers (including the old guy judge on So You Think You Can Dance)...they then choose the best and the worst to go in front of the Judges as well as some so-so people so that it isnt obvious to the public.
All along, the bad people are told they are great and told how to be better (but in reality they are telling them how to look worse so its even funnier if they make it to TV).
The point is, the age limit is 28 yet they put that 63 year old man on the show after 4 auditions just so they can exploit this god awful gimick song for a butt load of money...

This thread is too long to go through, but I dont get all the backlash over Marty...
He has a terrible playoff record and seems to find ways to lose big games. I know the collective whine of the Bills fan base is going to to respond with something along the lines of settling for just seeing the playoffs, but I just cant do that. Sure, getting to the playoffs would be nice, but whats the point if cant win once you get there...lame.
Marty is an upgrade over DJ, but I dont see how he could cause uproar by having interest in our job. Hes been on the hot seat at just about every job he has had because he NEVER gets over the hump. I play to win, and Marty doesnt win when it counts. Getting to the playoffs isnt enough, I want to win the SB and I Marty has shown time and time again his teams just dont get there. He has something like a 5-13 record despite taking some very talented teams several times into the playoffs...
I would not have been upset if we got him, but I really dont see it as a big deal that we didnt either.

ESPN- Seattle and Buffalo choose two former College coaches to lead their teams. However, the names Pete Carroll and Chan Galey just don't sound the same (add laughter).
Headline News- A bill board doesn't buy what it used to. The Bills fans pulled thier resources to try to get Cowher, but landed Chan Galey. But have been a clearence advertisement.
NFL network- laughing at Nix for saying there were 15 calls from coaches who wanted to be in Buffalo, but somehow they actually answered when Chan called LOL.
Charlotte, NC radio- fans calling in just mocking this decision blaming it on the cold weather and the snow.
Charlotte Sports TV news- In other news, the Bills lost out on Cowher and had to settle for Chan. What else do you expect from a team that has to leave the country to find fans. *laughing "Maybe Canadians will think Galey is Cowher."
These are just a few reports I have seen. Other TV clips have been of Nix just sounding foolish. When Nix made his little comment about Buffalo not being Oakland, the newscaster said, "Your right Buddy. People actually want to live and work in Oakland, even if it is for Al."
I'm known as a Bills fan. My office is full of Buffalo Bills stuff. I'm embarassed to evern be associated with this mess. What a slap in the face.
What I don't understand is that some of you foolish fans will be more upset at this post, than what happend today @ One Bills Drive.
For those Spelling and Grammer Nazi's on TBD, I have made several spelling and gramatical mistkes in this post. Can you find them?
My point: True Bills fans shouls be embarased and insulted by what has taken place this year @ One Bills Drive.
You are being overly sensitive...I mean, we are talking about a game here, not your kids or family. Its not that serious for one...
Second, who cares what they say...let them talk, it will just be that more satisfying when we get this ship turned around assuming Gailey works out.
Third, part of sports is ribbing on your friends, co-workers, etc whenever you can. Roll with it, why be embarrased? I was all over friends who are Eagles fans after they got destroyed and at least they were in the playoffs...same with my friends who are Cowboy fans...part of the game...(funny thing is that even though I live in Southern California I dont have any friends who are Chargers fans to make fun of...lmao)
Fourth, from what I am being told Gailey is pretty highly respected in NFL circles and amongst his peers. Sure he wasnt a sexy choice, so the media is going to pile on...but now that the dust has settled and we know a little bit more about him he doesnt look so bad. Lets give him a chance to do something here before we condem him like the media.
-
Yup, he was the guy that started it all. Todd Haley fired him from KC just before the start of the season...Meaning, Buffalo followed suit and fired its OC just prior to start of season then went out and replaces its HC with the other OC that was fired by KC...Chan Gailey...
Unbelievable...he may turn out to be a good coach, but this hire just doesnt make sense to me. Frazier was a much more attractive option in my eyes...Billick is a more attracive option my a mile...etc etc
*Deep Sigh* with curse words mumbling under my breath...

I am confused by a lot of those posts in this threads (I just skimmed over them since there were so many). I keep seeing people talking of a trade for McNabb that includes Lynch...all I want to know is ... What?
Has no one heard of McCoy in Phi? They loved this rookie and refer to him often as a Westbrook clone. Why on earth would Phi want a troubled RB who dances too much behind the line and drops a lot of passes when they just drafted a guy they love who is a perfect fit for their style of game?
Not saying Lynch is a bumb, but his flaws are in plain sight. He doesnt hit the hole fast enough and he drops too many passes, the two things the Phi running attack depends on the most. He is a terrible fit there and goes against what Reid wants from his RB's. And thats before you even factor in his troubled off field issues...
There is just no way any package for Lynch would get us McNabb unless Lynch was just a throw in. The only way we will get McNabb is with draft picks...
Just because we may decide we want to move on from Lynch doesnt mean teams will be lining up to take him. Shaun Alexander and Edgerin James were both on the market while they were in the prime of their careers, and neither Sea nor Indy could even get someone to offer a 2nd round pick for them and they were two of the best in the league and squeaky clean. The reason is simple, RB is the easiest position to replace, so no one wants to give up too much to obtain one unless they are young, proven and durable...the only thing has of those 3 things is that he is young.
So news flash here is that Lynch would not fetch anything higher than a 3rd and maybe some change, and thats not even a certainty given his off field issues.

So we all know Jacksonville is highly interested in Tebow. So here is and idea i heard that i really like.
We show extreme interest in drafting Tim Tebow, knowing Jacksonville is interested and see what Jacksonville is willing to offer if anyhitng.
Maybe we can snatch David Garrard out of the deal. Face it Garrad has been efficient with half the talent in Jacksonville at the WR position. I mean they drafted a QB and made hiom a WR!
(Im sorry i had to create another Tebow thread)
Flame away.
Heres my issue with that...what are we passing on to make this trade? A top OT, LB or DE will almost certainly be there at #9, all key positions of need, especially OT. What are we really going to get from Jax to move down? No way we trade a #1 pick for just DG...is Jax really willing to give up DG and their #1 pick for Tebow who has lots of question marks projecting to the NFL? I would seriously doubt they would trade DG and their #1 for the #9 pick to get Tebow.
Especially given DG has been hampered by a severe lack of playmakers during his time as Jax QB. They have too good of a core on that team to just throw it all away and start rebuilidng behind a questionable QB, especailly since Del Rio is coaching for his job next year. With the emergence of Sims Walker, they are most likely looking to add another playmaker to the offense rather than scrap the whole thing for a QB who has questionable NFL skills.
If Jax is going to make a play for Tebow, I seriously doubt DG will be involved in the move. They are not going to hand over the reigns to an unproven rookie in a year where everyone is playing for their jobs. So that being said, what would Jax be willing to give up to get a guy who wont play next year on anything other than specialty plays (barring injury to DG of course)? They need a WR and help on D, which will likely make a trade with them hard to make. For it to be worth it to us, we would need at least their first and second round picks along with an additional pick somewhere...thats a lot to pay for Tebow who may fall to them anyway (and most likely does).
So this trade just doesnt make sense to me from either prospective. We need a top 10 talent at OT or Defensive front 7 and there will almost certainly be one available at our pick. Trading down this year just isnt as attractive unless we can recoup a bounty, and paying a bounty to get Tebow just makes no sense for Jax, especially since in all probability he will fall to them in the first (where I am not even convinced they would draft him, depends on his workouts leading up to the draft).

Actually, the talk is Fargas will be the odd man out. Bush is younger and proven to be an asset over the last couple of seasons. The one they have too much invested in is McFadden. Jackson is also going nowhere. The Rams will not trade away there only offensive star.
Yeah, totally agree with what you are saying, however, the Raiders have big needs and Bush can fetch more than Fargas can. Thats why I was saying watch out for him.
And yeah, Rams have said several times that they wont trade S Jax, however, lots of teams have said they wont trade a player just to end up trading him still. So who knows, plus I have seen a couple of different rumors about the Pats possibly trading for him despite Rams saying they arent planning on trading him. You never know what report has any merit and what doesnt though, so only time will tell.
Although I could see Fargas fitting in quite nicely in NE too...
-
Actually, no he wouldn't be willing to come to Buffalo. He's already been contacted and turned the Bills down (and the Seahawks).
Yay, another HC thread...lol...just busting your chops...
But as far as this post I am quoting...this is actually not true. Rivera didnt turn down the job or the chance to interview for the job, he simply declined to interview for any job until the Chargers season is done as they believe they have a very good chance to go to and win the SB and thats his current focus. Cant blame him either...
-
The draft is going to be key for them. If they have a good draft, they'll be dominant again. If not, they'll be mediocre for a while. I wouldn't be suprised if all four of those picks go for linemen and linebackers.
Yeah, I think you are right and they use them on linemen and LB's. Although, I wouldnt be surprised to see them trade some picks to get an impact player. Like I said, rumors are out there about S. Jax and Peppers already...so who knows.
One guy to watch out for is Michael Bush. This guy would be a major stud as a starter on any other team, but because the Raiders have so much invested in McFadden and Fargas, there just isnt enough carries to go around. I wouldnt be surprised if NE trades one of those 2nd round picks for Bush...lord knows the Raiders could use that pick more than having 3 RB's and St Louis keeps saying they wont trade S. Jax (although that really doesnt mean squat).

I know that this is a big if, but IF the reports are correct, the reason Bill Cowher will not come here is because Ralph will not give him final authority on players and will not commit a workable budget for Cowher to fill ihs staff with quality coaches and fill the roster with NFL caliber players. The Bills are not "doing exactly wat they should be doing". Ralph is being cheap and controlling. If he truly cared about winning, he would hire Cowher and give him what he wants. This would be his best chance of delivering on the bull **** promise he made to the fans this year.
Instead, he will end up with a coordinator. Maybe they will turn out to be good. Maybe not. But he will not give them the money to get the best assistants and the best roster. If the Bills have any success in the next few years, it will not be because Ralph and Russ did the right thing.
I have also read reports supossedly "very close" to Cowher that said not coming to Buffalo has nothing to with money and that we offered him a huge deal...
What report is true, who knows. But there seems to be enough info out there speculating that the keys to vault were likely given to both Shannahan and Cowher...so I honestly dont think its about money at all...maybe control, but I doubt money...

Welker's season next year is in serious jeopardy with his knee injury and the position he plays.
Pats have the picks, but they sure don't like to use them.
That said, they'll probably will win 11 next year. That's not exactly the level they've been accustomed to though.
Well when you predict a teams record for the upcoming year and 11 is in the low end of the range, thats impressive. You would be hard pressed to find any sensible football fan, analyst, player, etc that would logically predict the Pats winning less than 10 or 11 games next year barring major injuries. So when your downside is still double digit wins and the other end of the range is 13+ wins I find it hard to declare it an end of a dynasty, especially when that team has 4 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft.
Thats all I am saying...
-
I am on record as vehemently disagreeing with people who say we should pick up Fox if Cowher somehow ends up as coach of the Panthers. I really dislike Fox.
Now, Coughlin on the other hand, I would hire as coach in a happy second if he were available.
In fact, if Coughlin and Cowher were both available at the same time and clamoring for the Bills job (hey, I can dream), I would hire Coughlin.
He's had success with two different teams and rarely fields an under-500 club. Cowher's done it in one place and it took him a decade to get there.
First, love the avatar...great movie, top 10 in my all time list.
Second, totally agree. I would in no way be dissapointed with Cowher, but Coughlin is top coach in this league and the level of discipline and hard nosed practices is just what this panzy azz team needs right now. Its like we are made out of glass or something...
-
Be honest. Most fans completely overreact to everything. Everything is the worst or best ever. The PAts essentially had a rebuilding year and still made the playoffs. They'll be back. Most fans are dumb and Pats fans are dumber than most. They didn't ever know they had a team until 9 years ago. They're still learning.
Very true...
One more tidbit too: Pats have FOUR picks in the first 2 rounds this year...they are in prime position to restock the cupboards with more young talent. It didnt help either that Brady was missing the league leader in receptions in this years playoff game.
I guarantee the Pats win at least 11 games again next year (barring major injuries to Moss, Welker, or Brady) and could win as many as 14. Moss, Welker, and Brady are young enough still to be dominant for a few more years. Add into the mix all the picks NE has this year to restock or use as trade bait to get some top players and its hard to imagine them being anything other than a SB contender every year for the next 3 years.
Lots of rumors that they may use some of those draft picks to try an pry Steven Jackson from St. Louis...not to mention Julius Peppers is once again being linked frequently to NE.
-
Rolando McClain from Alabama is a STUD!
I watched the national championship, and the guy was all over the place. He makes great reads and is a sure tackler (something the Bills have lacked for awhile now). He's the Patrick Willis of this draft, and should be there at 9.
As much as I love this pick, it only makes sense if:
A) There is no top LT worth taking at #9 left on the board
B) Or we signed a LT in FA
Otherwise, LT is a much bigger hole. In fact, I am not even convinced LB is that big of a hole. I have a feeling the next HC is going to see Maybin as a LB, and with him, Mitchell, Poz, and Harris as our core, then we have a very promising set of LB's.
-
Seriously, those ranting and raving about the Bills, specifically Wilson, not caring about winning if we hire a coordinator is getting really old. News flash, 4 of the 8 remaining teams in the playoffs are first time HC's. One of which took the lowly Cardinals to the SB last year and has a good shot at going back this year. Not to mention both HC's in last years SB were first time HC's.
A lot of the top teams this year are first time HC's in their first 3 years of their career. Hell, Balt has made the playoffs last year with a rookie HC and rookie QB, same with Atl. Rex Ryan did it again this year...
Hiring a coordinator by no means indicates that we are not serious about winning. No offense, but its pretty foolish to say Ralph doesnt want to win. You can disagree with his decisions if you want (there is plenty I dont agree with too), but just becuase you dont agree with all of his decisions does NOT mean he doesnt want to win. He fired his coach after a dissapointing start, then fired the staff, hired a GM, paid top dollar to retain key players in recent years, went out and spent a lot of money the last few years on positions of need, and has pursued hard all the top coaching candidates available offering big money.
Every year all kinds coordinators are hired by teams who want to win to be their HC, yet Bills fans somehow want to twist us hiring a coordinator as some kind of indication that we dont want to win.
PS: This doesnt mean I prefer a coordinator, as like many here, I still prefer an established coach like a Cowher, Billick, etc. But if we dont land one it wont be because Wilson didnt try or mean we dont want to win...

Right, A woman who "allegedly" cheated, never hurt anyone and was murdered is exactly the same as a piece of sh!! drug dealer who's lifestyle consisted of causing misery in, and the ruining of, the lives of others and their families. I'm sure he's squeaky clean too...drug dealers aren't known to be violent right?
Not here to defend drug dealers, but a high majority of them dont kill people. Hard core ones and ones near the top may, but most of your everyday drug dealers are just a bunch dipsticks who want to make easy money...
So, just because he was a drug dealer doesnt mean its ok to murder him. The punishment does not fit the crime...and how do you know Marvin isnt the one casued the beef in the first place?
-
Why? Does he play left tackle? One player isn't going to turn this team from a joke to a serious contender.
We have no idea if Butler can play RT, he was hurt so early in the season that we didn't get a chance to see what he could do. It isn't as if he played lights out in preseason. And now we have to wonder if the injury is going to slow him down. Wood's injury was awful, just awful. How well will he recover? Both Wood and Levitre played well as rookies, as rookies. TO is leaving. That doesn't sound to me like an offense that is just one player away from being a serious contender.
Uh, actually a QB can do just exactly that...but thats besides the point.
We have a lot of weapons on this offense not being utililzed even remotely close to their potential, including Freddy, because we havent had a QB capable of running this ship. A QB's success is NOT tied to the talent of the LT. Sure, a great LT helps a whole lot, but in no way does it mean a below par LT means a terrible QB...Rodgers, Big Ben, Warner, and many others all have had great seasons without quality LT's or quality O Lines. Plus McNabb has the ability to throw on the run and get out of the pocket, so he has a tool set that can help compensate for a bad O Line.
However, that being said, Bufallo is almost surely going to grab a LT in the first 2 rounds of the draft or sign one in FA...so why on earth would you be against filling the biggest hole on our team (QB) just because we have a hole at LT? Just because we get McNabb does NOT mean we would just be done and not sign or draft a LT...
-
I say we trade our first round pick for McNabb or Kolb, nuts yes, but here me out.
With the 9th pick in the draft, only 3-4 teams could come away with a less than average player. The Bills are one of those teams. We will more than likely get another bum player who is out played by a 5th round pick. Since 2002:
2002 Mike Williams Texas Tackle
2003 Willis McGahee Miami (FL) Running Back
2004 Lee Evans Wisconsin Wide Receiver
2004 J.P. Losman Tulane Quarterback
2005 No 1st Round Pick
2006 Donte Whitner Ohio State Safety
2006 John McCargo North Carolina State Defensive Tackle
2007 Marshawn Lynch California Running Back
2008 Leodis McKelvin Troy Defensive Back
Thats 8 players since 2002, and only 1 has been an abover average starter (Evans, I will give you McKelvin is too young in his carear to judge too). I would trade ALL EIGHT of those players for McNabb. Now, another way to look at it is like this - I would trade those 8 first round picks for McNabb.
So, while the 9th overall pick may have huge value to teams that draft well, it has almost no value to a team that drafts as terrible as we do. ie:
Would you trade Mike Williams for McNadd/Kolb? YES
Would you trade Donte Whitner for McNadd/Kolb? YES
Would you trade Marshawn Lynch for McNadd/Kolb? YES
Would you trade JP Losman for McNadd/Kolb? YES
Would you trade Lee Evans for McNadd/Kolb? YES
Would you trade Aaron Maybin for McNadd/Kolb? YES
Would you trade 2010 9th overall pick for McNadd/Kolb?
I think you get my point.
While I agree with your argument to trade our first for McNabb, there is one issue still and thats at Tackle. If we trade our first for McNabb then its imperative we sign a good tackle in FA. So I would much prefer to do a seond and change for McNabb or a future first rather than a first this year in case we dont get a good tackle in FA
Just say NO to drafting a 1st rd QB!!!!

LOL, so a rookie QB in his rookie year takes a year to adjust to the pro game and you assume he is permanently over his head? In that same quote he also said its completely different now and is ready to compete...come on bro, you want to condem a high draft pick becuase he didnt adjust fast enough his rookie year to the speed and complexity to the game while playing the most complicated position in all of professional sports?
