  1. My thoughts heading into the weekend

    1. The short to medium passing game should be the order of the day.

    2. Likely to be a 2 Qtr game into wind/against wind

    3. Rudolph to Pickens is heating up.

    4. Friermuth is going to be a handful

    5. If there was ever a game the pass rush needs to get home, this is it.

    6. Figure Harris is going to get 20-25 carries in this game.  Warren another 10

    7. I was advocating bringing Lenny F back.  Figured he had fresh legs.  Not seeing it.  They really haven't thrown to him yet.  Might be the game to try and get him some YAC.

    8. With the exception of 90, Pitt looks reasonably healthy for this time of year.

    9. I think this is a Joseph game.  Need to clog the middle to keep their OLINE off of Bills 2nd level.

    10. FGs might be hard to come by.

    11.  FTLOG, could we have a few offensive wrinkles in the game we haven't seen before?  Some creativity.

    12. I'm encouraged by Allen saying he felt the 4th qtr was the best he has felt throwing the ball all season.  Hoping that is going to carryover into the playoffs.

My point is that the Steelers are going to have a "nothing to lose" mentality because they're a 7-seed with a 3rd string QB that barely made the playoffs, coming in as 7.5 point underdogs.

I think this can be said about nearly every lower seed heading out on the road in the first round.  Maybe the only exception would be Philly who has to feel like the sky has fallen and they are lucky to draw the 4th seed.  KC should respect Miami, Buffalo should respect Pittsburgh, Dallas for sure should respect Green Bay, etc...

I also think this carries over to the second round for bye teams coming out of hibernation.  The pressure is high to win a playoff game you should win.  And the year long recriminations will certainly follow if you don't.

Right now the WR FA class includes the following (of course subject to change)

    -Tee Higgins

    -Mike Evans

    -Odell Beckham

    -Tyler Boyd

    -DJ Chark

    -Marquise Brown

    -Calvin Ridley

    -Michael Pittman

    -Curtis Samuel

Plus it's a deep WR draft class. Sure, it only takes one team to go big...but I don't think he even hits the $13.5M AAV that Spotrac projects.

What about Hopkins?  That guy catches EVERYTHING thrown to him and appears ageless.

The Taylor Rapp injury post-pick was kinda lost.  They said he walked off but haven't heard much more.

There is a video of him walking into the locker room.  I did not notice any hitch in his giddyup

  5. The bias in the NBC broadcast crew was evident throughout.  They started every scenario with, if the Bills win..  Miami fans had to notice, cause I sure did.  They practically assumed a Buffalo victory all the while Buffalo was leaving opportunity all over the field.

This is insane (I think it’s 3 carries but still)

It's not like they didn't try.  I saw the Dolphins got 17 total plays in the second half.  17!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And they did try to run on them, but Buffalo adjusted to the fake pitches and had several TFLs on them.  And Ingold with that blind side hit also doomed one of their drives.

Broken tackle on LB,  Wilkins on back with 2 Miami defenders in front of him.  That play was all heart

It was remarkable seeing it live.  It is stunning seeing this still shot.  QB1 in Buffalo is a dude.  He got 7 more yards from this play at this point.  Stunning.

  8. Anyone see the play where Dodson got hurt?   For his limited playing Spector held up.  Forgot he was even on the team.  Pretty sure Pittsburgh will be looking to test him.  Good thing DQ is back in the middle.

Besides that miscommunication with Gabe that led to an Eli Apple interception he had a pretty great first half. There was small things he needed to clean up but he was throwing ball all over the field, picking up big chunks of yards and was pretty accurate. That was the best he has thrown the ball in sometime.

I wondered about this as well.  I told my wife that you rarely see a pass so "off" unless there is a breakdown in the communication/expectation between QB and WR.  I don't know if it was or was not true in this case, but it was so clearly off, that it made me wonder.  Not everything is as black and white as it seems.  Ultimately the QB is responsible for protecting the ball.

  10. 1.  I don’t think Buffalo got within sniffing distance of a sack, but shut them out in the second half.
    2. That quarter consuming drive in the 3rd that resulted in zero points was a microcosm of this season.
    3.  Dolphins hit gold with Achane.
    4. Lenny looks slow.
    5. Tale of 2 reviews.  The extended review of Kincaid’s 2 yard reception and the failed review of Allen’s hand going out of bounds were head scratching.
    6. Mr Kincaid, Mr Diggs and Mr Shakir all with clutch performances.
    7. The score was close, the final stats show our Bills dominated that game.
    8. Josh Allen is a dude.
    9. Thank you Tennessee.  That took enormous stress off of that game.
    10.  Mr Cooks.  You just gotsa catch that pass.

I hope it's not the flu - the last thing we need is to have a bug spreading around the team at this time of year.  I remember when Bruce Smith got the flu and missed the playoff game at Pittsburgh, and we lost.  Really made me angry- the stupidity of not getting a flu shot when there can be such huge ramifications if you don't and get sick at the wrong time.  There simply is no such thing as just playing anyway if you get a knock-you-on-your-ass type of flu.

My son got the flu shot 3 weeks ago.  Guess what he was diagnosed with today.  The flu.  I know so many people that either have gotten Covid or the flu over the holidays.  Stuffs going around.

I think I’m saturated.  I’ve read and listened pro and con about the game.  I’m shutting down, going off the net until Monday.  If they win or are in, I’ll be back.  If they’re out, I’ll see you all at the draft.   Good luck Bills.  My final take is I think this is going to be a nail biter.  Aren’t they all?

  12. I heard an interview that makes a ton of sense to me.  Greg Cosell was on Colin Cowherd show.

I think we can all agree that the middle of the OLINE has been struggling of late.

Greg thinks that Allen leaves the pocket too soon and Diggs double moves take more time to set up.  So Allen is in scramble drill which is killing the Diggs routes.

Now why Diggs is coming out, I strongly suspect they need him for the playoffs and like all players, he is nursing aches and pains.

People will rush to say Bradley Chubb!  Well, an ACL on the brink was going to tear inevitably, whether it was in that 4th quarter of the Ravens game or the 1st quarter of Sunday night's game.

Interesting take I had not thought about.  Is it true that they are a wear and tear injury as opposed to a bad plant/twist/stub etc?

  14. [Pre-Chorus]
The time has come to say fair's fair
To pay the rent, to pay our share
The time has come, a fact's a fact
It belongs to them, let's give it back

    [Chorus]
How can we dance when our earth is turnin'?
How do we sleep while our beds are burnin'?
How can we dance when our earth is turnin'?
How do we sleep while our beds are burnin'?

How do we practice when the roof is smoking
