  1. That's not the actual Plain Dealer--- it's a fake.
  2. Where did he say that?
  3. Paul Hamilton ‏@pham1717 @ByTimGraham Why would they waste each other's time? Tim Graham ‏@ByTimGraham @pham1717 All sorts of reasons: posturing, appearances, trying to be thorough, gathering info on a future NFL coach ...
  4. He added: Tim Graham ‏@ByTimGraham Keep in mind, Bills fans, that token interviews sometimes lead to genuine interest. Mike Tomlin began as a Rooney Rule requirement
  5. Type it over and over again and see if that makes it so. There are plenty of posts suggesting your assertion is incorrect. There's also a substantial amount of evidence to back it up.
  6. That's funny--- I had a jokey thought that Bellichick is such a genius, he a) knew who we were going to hire to be our next coach 6 months in advance, b) brought him in to master his philosophy, and c) will then use it against us for the next 3 years until the cycle repeats. This goes way beyond spygate, folks!
  7. Lombardi was an assistant with the NY Giants, alongside Tom Landry.
  8. This part really gets me--- any good will O'Brien has generated these past few months has to be wiped out by the money grab and blatant shoulder shrugging. Taking advantage of a weakened and desperate Penn State (not suggesting they don't deserve to be there) for financial gain after asking so many student-athletes to join him under the guise of a trusted relationship is in the poisoned spirit of the violations that got PSU in this situation in the first place. Whatever his intentions, this is why it disturbs me to have Mr. Pegula involved in any way.
  9. One possible reason Kelly is headed for the NFL: http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2012-12-19/report-oregon-ncaa-case-likely-heading-to-hearing
  10. Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet #Eagles spokesman RT @derek_boyko: #Eagles confirm they met with Bill O'Brien today.
  11. What a great guy. Thank god money wasn't a motivator: Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet Why did OBrien stay? Agent: "The commitment he made to the existing team & incoming recruits was far stronger than the allure of an NFL job" Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet More from agent Joe Linta on #PennSt Bill O'Brien: "His word and his integrity meant more than any possible NFL interest. He loves his job."
  12. Yes, but if Pegula is O'Brien's "ally" in this effort, then it also implies he's in cahoots. Honestly, I have no idea if/how/why it would/could/should be construed as negative. It just sounds odd I'm hoping it's not.
  13. Exactly. By going for 2 on the opening TD, Kelly created a scenario where Kansas State had to score 2 TDs to take the lead, being down 22-10 at the half. Had Oregon simply kicked the extra point, an 11 point lead doesn't seem as daunting when you can kick a FG as part of the 2 scores needed. Instead, KS tightened up and started to press. How often have we seen Gailey or Jauron teams play "not to lose" and watching the other team pull away? Conversely, had Snyder not attempted that FG in the 2nd Q, the outcome might've still been in doubt.
  14. The previous paragraph to the above quote (in reference to "PSU donor Terry Pegula, financier of the new Penn State hockey arena, has been a major ally in his efforts" below: This was a strategic mission of sorts by O'Brien. By having Linta throw his name open to NFL openings and having the agent field initial offers, he was able to gain additional leverage that allowed him to accomplish structural and personnel changes in the Penn State athletic department that will be forthcoming. O'Brien declined to be specific about those changes when asked but he did not deny those aims. What personnel changes would Pegula be interested in influencing? This could be a major headache as a Sabres' fan--- or maybe nothing at all. http://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/index.ssf/2013/01/bill_obrien_is_staying_at_penn.html
  15. Bill Bellichick obviously believes many of these principles translate to the NFL--- that's exactly why he's using them. Kelly has stated many times that he would fit his scheme to the personnel. It's not this specific offense that an NFL team would be buying, but his brains. The truth is, Oregon has the no.1 rushing attack in NCAAF. And that also entails his use of percentages in determining when to take "risks" (even though they are statistically the safer call). Ultimately, the risk paid off: Kansas State scored no points, and Oregon raced down the field at the speed of light. Had Kansas State "played the percentages" and gone for the first down rather than attempt a difficult field goal with a shaky kicker, it'd possibly be 17-15 at the half, in favor of Snyder's team.
  16. It's just a guy with a Bleacher Report blog--- he's simply writing what is being reported as "conventional wisdom" in the hopes of generating hits to his latest slideshow. If he's wrong, he can spin it. If Whisenhunt is hired, he looks connected. He's not.
  17. Of course--- confirmed by Bleacher Report's Chris Trapasso.
  18. It's worth listening to Football Outsiders' Aaron Schatz on both the strengths and limitations of football analytics: http://audio.wgr550.com/a/69407226/aaron-schatz-describes-analytics-in-the-nfl.htm?pageid=28473 Additionally, WGR's Matthew Collier outlined what the Bills Dept. of Analytics should look like--- for the record, he's the station's sort of go-to guy in regards to advanced statistics: http://wgr550.com/Wh...ook-Li/15183323
  19. According to SI, Penn State is putting pressure on him to remain and it appears to be working: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20130103/bill-obrien-penn-state/index.html
  20. The mere threat of Oregon's offense, and the quick 8-0 score, is pressuring Kansas State already. That's an anxiety I've felt as a Bills fan watching Brady, Bellichick & company as they get warmed up early in games. It'd be nice to recapture that explosive intimidation factor, as in the K-Gun era.
  21. I'd say it's been copy and pasted several times. Cowher and Gruden are probably not available and Holmgren is well past his expiration date.
  22. I agree, and suppose that's why I ask. It sounds like the kind of rewritten report a lot of blogs or rotoworld use to expand on tweets and one line inferences made by guys like LaCanfora and Schefter. Not to knock it, I was just curious about the credibility of the author.
  23. Reich was just on WGR with Murph, recounting his memories of the comeback game--- I hadn't even realized he was on the Cardinals staff in 2012, as the Wide Receiver's Coach. That's an interesting connection, and I wonder if the Bills have received any insight from Frank on what kind of coach Whisenhunt (or Horton, for that matter) is to coach under. FWIW, his comments were glowing on both with Murph, but I wouldn't expect anything less.
  24. From what source is this quoted from? It sounds like an extrapolation of LaCanfora's earlier tweet.
