ESPN Thoughts on Brohm when he was drafted
shoretalk replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We just don't know ... and all of these critics who have never seen Brohm come through preseason with a shot at being the starter have already decided that this highly rated Lousville quarterback is miles behind a Claussen or McCoy or even Tebow. If he can produce like he did with the Cardinals and benefit from riding the bench for a couple of years behind Favre and Rodgers then we just might have our starter. At least, we finally have a management team and coach dedicated to winning football and more importantly geared towards offensive production. If you read Nix's comments about Van Pelt you can almost sense how much disgust Nix has for what Coach Dick did to the team and its players. It's a new start people ... the draft has given us a playmaker and our defensive side of the ball should be stronger than before ... go LET's GO BUFFALO!!! -
When you pick potentially the best player in the draft who has the potential to score each time he touches the ball ... that is about winning football and changing football philosophies! I think Fred Jackson is a great back who can get us yards at every touch but he is not a Spiller who can go all the way every time ... Marshawn has almost literally shot himself in the foot and when Coach Dick put him back in after Jackson had been our best player I knew that nothing good would happen. Picking Spiller is saying ... let's get the best player who can help us immediately rather than going for mediocre. If we had made a move like Denver did for Tebow that would have been for ticket sales ... but this draft is about putting the best possible team out on field! Now, let's get them all signed!
-
It is so amazing how this board has individuals who can find fault with even our best players ... Evans is a premiere receiver! If you had been paying attention to the games rather than searching for the chicken wing you dropped between the cushion of your sofa you might have noticed that under Coach Dick we rarely threw the ball down field much less down field to Evans but when we did he came through. We just gave up a slot receiver who would have caught more passes if he had been thrown to ...Furrey must be the guy on that poster next to your bed because in no way does he come close to being the quality receiver Evans is. Oh well ... just another bizarre posting that makes you wonder about BILLS NATION at times ... GO BILLS!!

Every expert who knew for sure that the Bills would pick Claussen at #9 (Kiper and his basement groupies) based on their inside information and expertese at flipping coins will continue to blast this draft but if you spend time reading about these kids and pulling up film ... it looks like Buddy got the job done!! Now let's be the first to sign them all and get ready for the FISH!!!
-
And. most of these kids appear to be SMART too ... Spiller graduating early ... Easley an academic scholarship ...

Draft Day Steals - Buffalo?
shoretalk replied to ThurmansLostHelmet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiper is still trying to convince someone that Claussen deserved to go in the top ten and since he picked us to make that mistake he will forever lamblast our draft! The collective reviews should make all of us feel good about the new/old guys in town! I can't wait for that first game to roll around SQUISH THE FISH!!! -
Is this draft proof Maybin was not Nix's idea?
shoretalk replied to clancynut's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BIG ... FAST ... HAS HANDS ... catches the ball in traffic and takes hard hits w/o letting go of the ball! I think this draft also proves that Maybin was not Modrak's pick either (all reports indicate he wanted Cushing last year but someone else won the choice ... perhaps DICK?????). -
Well the quick analysis is pretty clear that this was a very good draft for the Bills, which now has to be translated onto the field. Sounds like Batten will be a wild special teamer and Spiller will keep us on the edges of our seats! The defensive picks whether they start or rotate in will create enough havoc to let our secondary collect more interceptions than last year. We may have picked up our #3 or maybe even our #2 wideout and Brown seems to have some really great upside to him. If you read all the pre-draft reports about these guys the common theme is their upside and that their best football is still to come. Buddy appears to have picked smart, motor driven, and quality players for the Bills. Can't wait to see how Chan puts it all together! GO BILLS
-
Kiper and crew had so many on this board drooling in anticipation that Claussen or McCoy deserved to be ours! Now, Claussen is in the warm weather where he might succeed and McCoy is down the road where the West Coast offense might cover up his faults. I am one of the apparent few who believe that Brohm might be the answer ... I know that I wanted him out of Louisville and frankly haven't studied the tapes as to why he didn't win the job over Favre or Rodgers. I want to see what he can do and I know that Edwards will be a better quarterback without Coach Dick setting his limitations. There were no studs in this year's draft after Bradford and I am not even totally sold on him. Next year is a quarterback feast but when you look at Brown's career numbers there is a chance that he will be more than a serviceable copy of Reich but there is value in having a number two like that! So, before we bash them all .. let's see what Chan can do since he will be putting all the success and failure of the offense right on h is own shoulders ... with CJ and Freddie''s running abilities driving defenses nuts there will be a window for our quarterback to be better than we have seen in years even w/o studs at the tackle slots. GO BILLS!!!
-
WOW ... I am out of breath just watching that vid .... he is an amazing player ... an incredible running back ... a great kick returner ... and a really good passer!! Too bad that he will be long gone before we get to draft him .... oh wait, he is ours! McCoy was someone no one wanted until late on Friday night ... Claussen ... guess he wasn't a top pick either. And, those leftover tackles ... they just aren't going to do what CJ will do once he is set loose. We have a coach who believes in going for the jugglar and wearing opponents down ... Spiller and Jackson both know how to find the holes, both can catch the ball, and wow CJ can take it to the end zone each time he finds an opening! Just maybe ... our passing game will open up more effectively with Spiller than it would have with Davis being on his learning curve ... Thank goodness we have a coaching and GM team that wants to win (not just play to avoid losing) and they know it starts by running the ball and stopping the run! GOOD DRAFT!!!

Lee Evans is ranked at #56 amongst WR's
shoretalk replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is one of the most unbelievable arguments yet ... is this anti-Lee crowd the same ones that bashed Jim Kelly? And, love the idea ... can't use the quarterback or offensive scheme as a reason for the ranking. Well ... if you have a quarterback or in our case quarterbacks ... that won't throw down field to a receiver with Evans' skill set then guess what ... Evans is going to look like he ranks in the lower half of the league. If you have a coach who believes in going for limited yardage rather than taking chances then your big play wide out is not boing to rank very high. But, if you are even a casual observer of the NFL you will see that Evans should be getting the ball ... television commentators, out of town media, and I am sure those with even a limited degree of intelligence know we have one of the best receivers in the league but we just haven't used him. That isn't his fault and doesn't diminish his talent. I really think that somehow this board has attracted Jets/Dolphins' fans who just love to attack our BILLS! GO BILLS!!! This year may be that break out year Evans is waiting for ... we just have to throw him the ball! -
Eagles stockpiling picks...now have 10
shoretalk replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First ... with no one bidding on McNabb any general manager who would in any way give up a first round position or selection would just be a fool. The Eagles are going to have to move one of their top two quarterbacks and the price for either McNabb or Kolb just keeps going down. And, as much as I posted an inquiry yesterday about trading Lynch ... we do need two quality running backs not just one. This would just be a foolish trade. Finally ... here in South Jersey we have seen the increasing number of Donovan passes that are missing their mark ... just behind receivers ... a little bit short of them making them have to stretch ... he is not one to choose and I'd love to see the powers that be officially announce we are not in the McNabb chase! -
Wow .... football guys in charge!!! All the naysayers should take a deep breath because we have gone from a regime that was about creature comforts and trying not to lose to a winning approach to football that is not about who does best in Madden in the locker room! And, these new guys believe in training to get ready for the season and avoid injuries ... not quite Rusty Jones but I'll take this tough go get 'em attitude! And, it is good to keep reading how the new staff will not try to shove things down the throats of players whose talents do not match what the HC wants (The Williams' methodology for coaching) ... this coach wants to win and his record shows he brings out the best in his players. So GO BILLS!!!!! Let's hope the right mix of players who want to play hard and win are in the line-up come September ... it sure will be interesting to see if certain guys bounce back from the pits we have tossed them into.

Ok ... I am in BEAST MODE after having to put up with the April Fool's postings before my morning coffee ... however the one posting about Marshawn as ridiculous as it was did get me thinking ... Lynch obviously continues to show no respect to his teammates and no respect to his new coaching staff by being invisible this week at OBD! It certainly appears that he does not feel he is a Bill. Reality is that the good teams in the league need two running backs .. we have two quality runners but if Marshawn continues to be a distraction rather than a team player what would you want us to get for him in a trade? We definitely cannot just release him but what is he worth? I think if we can't get a #2 round pick for him then it is proof that running backs should never be picked in the first round but that being said I think a number two or a high round 3 (top ten) would be the only acceptable trade options unless we can get a starting player but that won't happen.

What is amazing to me ... if you read the Wall regularly you'd think every single negative poster is a season ticket holder with multiple seats in their name. And, none of them plans to support the Bills even though they are posting regularly on a Buffalo Bills' fans board. Although I haven't seen any official team reports on season tickets (link please) every person I know who has tickets is planning on renewing them ... the reason ... they are Buffalo Bills' fans and frankly the team didn't suck as much as this board implies (We had a bad head coach who did not strive to win, more than our share of injuries (new strength and fitness coach should work wonders with that one), a bad head coach with no sense of offense (did I say that before), and quarterbacks who either didn't have the arm, were messed up by a bad head coach or came in too late to be of any help.). I am looking forward to opening day ... and no matter who they draft and no matter how bad Maybin plays .. I will be there at THE RALPH after driving up from New Jersey because THE BILLS are my team ... and have been for 50 years!

McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
shoretalk replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was at the same magic shop ... amazing that guy is starting to be a major source of NFL news for discussion boards. All you have to do is read almost half of the opinions here and you know that's where everyone is going for their inside info! -
McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
shoretalk replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we can have him for a #3 pick fine ... but he is far from the quarterback he once was ... his passes often fall short and out of the reach of his receivers ... Philly cannot go into the preseason with all 3 of these guys so the pressure is on them especially since they have had to pay Vick his roster bonus. Offer them a #4 and bend to a #3 or a 2015 #2 with conditions haha. time for us to do some draft pick stealing and stop the damage ... -
It is amazing to continue to read the criticims of those who are super critical of some of our players. Whitner may not be All Pro but the comments from the national media and other players all seem to endorse the fact that this is a guy who most teams would want playing for them. In fact, most fan bases would want a guy who strives to rally his team and the public even when the overall team sucks. No, he wasn't drafted for the 3-4 but what he has done is to help cover our problems and overwhelming injuries to the secondary. I am critical of the schemes in which our teams have had to play during the last few years. That is on the coaching staff and primarily the head coach but the secondary during these awful years has continued to not get burnt, which is surprising considering the lack of an efficient pass rush, the number of injuries to its players, and the effectiveness of the run against the team. The man coaching that secondary is back and maybe he has a little better insight than those who are all too busy trashing Donte ... As for me ... give me a team of players wanting to guarantee a playoff spot and then let them go out the prove it. And, may the best players win the starting positions .... today's depth chart is tomorrow's kitty litter. We will see in September who the new Buffalo Bills are and there is a chance that by having a coach who plays to win rather than who tries to not lose some of the players we have put down still may rise to the challenge!

Living in Jersey and following the Eagles' media it has been sad to see how Andrews' mental health has impacted him. I think the Eagles had brought his brother in to try to alleviate some of the issues but it didn't work. He may have the physical talent to be a right guard but the Eagles' experiment at right tackle never happened because Shawn just couldn't bring himself to play. There are many many media stories about the impact of his mental health issues on his relationship to the team. It is wonderful to hope that through medication his ability to live a normal life can be a reality but the pressures of professional football might just be beyond hope for him. I don't see him as a right tackle and I can just imagine the Wall's comments about Nix and company's decision to sign a guy with a history of depression the first time he walks away from the team or doesn't show up for a game like has happened in Philly. Give him a pass on signing with the Bills and pray that he is able to live a normal life.

Why dosen't the NFL have a minor league?
shoretalk replied to Smiley Dear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are sooo right!!! Those "student athletes" majoring in creative basket weaving are in school for just one purpose and that is to try to show they are NFL worthy. I'd love to see the NCAA track what happens to the majority of Division 1 athletes who cruised along on a free ride while the rest of our kids have to pay the big bucks to get a degree that means something. -
Report: Bills one of 3 going for McNabb
shoretalk replied to shaker4187's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having watched all too many Donovan bounce passes down here in South Jersey I cringe every time I sense a relatively high degree of let's get McNabb and our problems will be answered. There is no doubt that McNabb has been (HAS BEEN) a quality quarterback but if we have to give up anything higher than a #3 then we will have wasted an opportunity once again for the future of this team. Our new coaching staff is experienced at getting the most out of quarterbacks and that gives me hope especially for Boehm but also possibly for Edwards. Fitzy is a great team player, gutsy, and a perfect number two guy but like McNabb Fitzy's passes all too often just don't get there. So, let McNabb head off to Cleveland or Denver ... let's find ourselves a stud LT, a linebacker witth power and passion, and hope that our talent evaluators can identify a QB who can think decisively, throw the ball with accuracy, and be sturdy enough to survive the frozen tundra of THE RALPH. GO BILLS!! -
[please fix subject]T.O to the Bengals
shoretalk replied to San Diego Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd take back the TO we had this past season .... sure he didn't go all out but when he did it was wonderful to see. With a true head coach and a quarterback coached to win I think we'd see even greater things from both TO and Evans. -
Incognito was suspended before he ever played center at Nebraska ... I think the Bills' nation is way too quick to give up on Brohm. Friends from Louisville rave about him and perhaps having a real head coach with quarterback training experience plus an 'assistant offensive coordinator' who has a great track record with QB's can turn his pro career around! In 2001, he redshirted at Nebraska.[1]. In 2002, he was a redshirt freshman and played in all 14 games and was a First-team Freshman All-American by FWAA, The Sporting News, and Rivals.com as well as First-Team Freshman All-Big 12 (The Sporting News). In 2003, he was First-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press and started 13 games at left tackle. Incognito was shifted to center during preseason camp in 2004; however, a series of off-field incidents culminated in his suspension before the 2004 season by the coaching staff. Soon after, he left the school and enrolled at the University of Oregon in late September, though under NCAA transfer rules, he was ineligible to play. Incognito is the first Husker freshman offensive lineman to start in the season opener and just the third rookie lineman to earn any start in his first year of competition. He played in all 14 games, starting 13 at left tackle and posted the second-highest season pancake total in Husker history with 171[2].

Unless he is in the stands watching the game he isn't there ... his recovery from surgery has kept him out of the game. Thank goodness I am not watching the NFL's shining moment of embarassment that just needs to be pushed into history. The players named to the Pro Bowl get their by popularity with their peers or fans and then they have nothing to really play for since the AFC-NFC rivalry puts the word rivalry to shame. If they insist on a game maybe we should have a college all-star team play the NFL players at least then I would think the players would have enough pride to try to make it a game.

I am not naive about the Eagles and who runs that team ... ahh the joy of trying to inject a little sarcastic perspective for the critics of the Buddy hire. I wonder what you would have said if the Bills had hired 'Howie' as our next general manager? Would you have been so enthusiastic that we 'stole' this young lawyer from Philly's winning tradition or would you be ripping the Bills for not picking an experienced football pro to be in charge of the football operations. "Howie" could very well be football's answer to the Sox' 'Theo Epstein' but my point is ... I want a football guy running my football operations and I want the Bills' Nation to see that the Eagles picked someone that I don't think any one of us would want in the GM job in Buffalo. "Howie" might know contracts but I say leave the contracts to Russ and let Buddy run the football operation ... Reid interviewed two other individuals both from inside the Eagles' organization one of whom, Louis Riddick, allowed Philly to meet the Rooney Rule requirements. But voices in Philadelphia wanted more ... Phil Sheridan in today's Philadelphia Inquirer writes, "What the Eagles missed here was an opportunity to hear some voices from outside the NovaCare Complex bubble. Why not interview a couple of bright candidates with insight into how other winning teams - the Colts and Saints and Patriots and Chargers - do things? Why not get a critique of your roster and your schemes and your methods from someone who hasn't been breathing the same air as you for the past decade?" http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/2010...th_Roseman.html Wait, I think he wrote "the Chargers" ... didn't we just get a gm from "the Chargers" ... oh never mind too many voices in the Bills' Nation already know that Buddy's football knowledge and experience only mean more doom and gloom. Thank goodness not all of our glasses have a huge hole at the bottom.
