It's time to get Carrington and Batten in the mix with the first team, at least in practice. Like what I saw (obviously) from Dareus and Merriman, we know what we're getting with them. Let's do all in power to keep Lights Out healthy. First team O Line wasn't horrible. Urbik definitely struggled a bit, not totally awful but I think it might be time to give Hangartner some first team reps at RG this week in practice. Second team O Line was absolutely, disgustingly bad. Wang has no reason to make this team, same with Wrotto and Howard. I understand it's early but someone needs to find it or we're in big trouble if we ever have an injury on the first team. Not going to judge Thigpen all that much yet. Joe B on WGR made a good point that he only had 7 accumulative practices thus far with the Bills. I have patience with him. Easley wasn't involved as much with the offense as much I hoped. I also understand you don't want your number 1 guys returning kicks in the pre season but I don't understand why they picked him to return. He needs to step it up and so does Jones but they do have time. First team O was overall solid, neither good nor bad. Freddy is Freddy and he'll again be the cornerstone of our offense. But i would like to see them spread it out a little more against Denver, hit some mid range passes instead of the quick slant routes. Although they did move the ball efficiently their second drive, like I said not particularly good or bad. Pumped for Denver, less excuses with a game and another week of practice under their belts.

Wang should be among the first cut. We need someone to step up at tackle.
-
Ugh Sheppard isn't playing? That's a let down.
-
I said it before, Marcus Easley goes out with the first team, tears it up on the first two drives and all is well again in Bills land (in regards to the Evans situation). No but seriously, the defense is going to be flying, Spiller makes a few plays like he did last year. But Thigpen will struggle when he steps in, Brad Smith doesn't do much, I bet you they save the real crazy option plays for the regular season.

Yes, how will we ever replace a guy who caught 37 balls last year. I'm pretty sure we could find a guy in the fourth round next year that can be an overall improvement from Evans.

Lee Evan's effect on Stevie Johnson
bills1960 replied to coltrane34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was the number one receiver from week 3 onward and look at the numbers he put up. He was being doubled teamed last year I'm sure but he still managed to get open and make plays. Evans' departure doesn't change that. I predict very similar numbers to last year's if not better. -
Let's play a game first before we start talking about black outs in December. Thank you.

You should expand the poll with the option of yes, but the compensation was awful.
-
This would be a good poll thread, just saying.
-
How many games over the past 2 years have you thought to yourself, "wow Lee Evans really brought this game home for us." Yeah, can't think of one.
-
Honestly, as long as this doesn't affect Fitz's ability to get Stevie the ball, this doesn't hurt as much as you may think.
-
Bottom line is he took coverage away from Stevie. Good luck getting him the ball now that he's gone.

...So you trade a well respected locker room leader and one of the more productive players on the team to ensure that no one steals Namaan Roosevelt from us? That's our reasoning?
-
I don't blame Florence at all. He just signed a deal to return to a team that went 4-12 last year over the jets who are almost certain to go to the playoffs this year and he sees this crap happen a month before week one? The guy cares about winning, so sue him.

My least favorite word is sports: rebuilding. It's basically just an excuse for suckage. Well, we're rebuilding so by us losing we're justified. Or by us making a horrible trade it's justified because our fourth round pick will pick up someone better than him...?
-
So let's look at our Receiver core for this year (oh, which starts in a month btw): 1. Johnson: good. 2. Nelson: Shows promise, nothing proven. 2. Parrish: hurt, questionable. 3. Easley: hasn't played a down of even pre season football. 4. Davis: scrub. 5. Jones: special teamer. 6. Roosevelt: fan favorite? I guess that's all you can really say. 7. Oh, and a 4th round pick next year. Almost forgot that. Pathetic.

Just because they traded lee evans doesnt mean theyre "in the luck hunt" the guy had 4 tds last year. But still, WTF how does that help us!
-
I cannot wait to hear what Buddy Nix says to justify this move.
-
How does this help our team this year? Hey Buddy, what happened to "I'm only going to make moves that makes this team better"? What a joke.
-
No, just talking specifically bout the Peters trade. Bottom line is we're not getting a late first round pick for Evans, not even close. I want Evans as a Bill at least for the remainder of this year.
-
I'd trade Jason Peters for Eric Wood straight up any day.
-
It's not that I think Evans is some key member of our offense, it's just the timing of the trade that annoys me. A 4th rounder does nothing for us this up coming season.I personally think overall that David Nelson will be a better receiver this year than Evans will be (where ever he ends up) but the issue is Evans is a solid deep threat. May not be tremendous, but there aren't any real, proven deep threats on this team besides Stevie and even for him the deep ball is not his game. If this trade was to happen in March of next year I'd have absolutely no problem with it, even for a 4th or 5th round pick. Unless it's a player for player deal but those are rare, even for an odd offseason like this.

I heard on Bills Round Up that he just aggravated his hamstring again, that doesn't seem too serious. This can actually be huge for a guy like Donald Jones who is a slot receiver and will most likely get some major time on Saturday.

Will we know that the Bills weren't all that happy with Fisher after they installed the new track facility. I think they like having camp in Rochester just to keep that area involved, so I think it depends on how much the new track field will affect their work there.
