  1. I agree. We've played Tennessee, Chicago, and now Green Bay. All expected to be upper echelon teams in the NFL this year. We've faced some good teams and I can only think that this WILL help us in the long run as a whole.

yeah, maybe the first team offense will even score a touchdown

  2. But Jaws loves him!

I do think Trent can be a good, productive QB in this league. Like most other players in the league,

you can only be as good as your supporting cast. It's not just TE, it's the O-line looking like swiss

cheese, receivers not being in the right spot, RB's who don't hit the hole, DB's consistently playing

too deep, ZERO pass rush and most important an inept coaching staff.

Give Trent the O-line of the early 90's Cowboys and I'm sure not many fans would have a problem

    with his play.

what holes did the rb's have to hit, looked like a pretty solid wall to me

  3. What gets me riled is that we were 1-8 vs the 3-4 defense last year and last year Trent said it was difficult because they never practiced against it. They will probably play the 3-4 D 8 to 10 times this year. Last night he said it was the first time many on the the team saw the 3-4. I don't claim to be a coach or very smart but why wouldn't the Bills set their D up in practice as a 3-4 so the offense can get some reps against it? At least so they can know what to expect is coming, like a bull rush by a rookie lineman that makes our vets look like a bunch of pu$$ie$.

A post a while back someone proclaimed.."What will Bellicheck do against this offense?" Like it would be a problem for him. The answer is he will eat it up and spit it out.

i guess someone needs to ask that idiot DJ why they are not practicing against the 3-4

  4. From JW's article I think we can all agree that Maybin will not be signed before the Packer's game on Sat. nite. If our DE's such as Ellis and Bryan continue their strong play, than Maybin's position starts to look very tenuous. If he is not in before the Pittsburg game, and talks are still where they are now, we could have a very interesting mess on our hands. I don't see Russ Brandon as a guy who is going to overpay for someone of Maybin's worth. The Bills did not give in to Jason Peters, and they certainly will not give in to Aaron Maybin. We may not be great at picking talent, but our front office does not get pushed around.

I think it is not beyond the realm of possibility that all three holdouts may not sign with the teams they were drafted by. If we have a good team without Maybin, does anyone really care if we ever sign him? What about trading his rights for Andre Smith's rights? That would be quite a scenario. Could it happen?

what strong play are you talking about, they suck

  5. IMHO ......

A players "value" the day he is drafted should be able to be estimated by what the draft position paid last year plus or minus an inflation factor giving quite a bit of room for negotiations. As time passes his "value" can go up or down depending on the contracts being signed around him .... still giving room for negotiations. But there HAS to come a time when his "value" to the team starts to decrease purely from the fact of his contribution to the upcoming season will be diminished.

I guess what I'm trying to say is ....... is this the time when OBD says to A.M. "OK here is our offer, it's good for one week, next week it will decrease by X amount every week until the season starts ..... when the season starts we have more important things to worry about than signing a rookie and we will offer a significantly reduced contract, if you'd rather not play for the Bills we understand, and you can sit and rot until 12:00 the night before next years draft and take you chances."

the rookies payscale is slotted, and should be easy to calcualate an offer. The FO is probably trying to lowball the kid. next year they should just trade down from the top 10 pick they'll probably have (they are usually crappy picks by the bills anyways)

  6. Correct ... and Maybin is in control of what happens here. Seems like he is holding out hoping that Crabtree gets something really unusual. This is not likely to happen. Personally I hope crabtree gets screwed. The idea that these guys get paid millions of guaranteed money before playing a down in the NFL is lunacy. The fact that the union is in agreement is a mystery to me.

you have no idea if maybin is holding out or just waiting for an offer. if the bills don't want to sign high draft picks, they should trade down

  7. Walker is not a strong run blocker. That's ok though. As long as he can protect Trent's blind side in the passing game the Bills can focus on running it between the tackles behind Levitre, Hamgartner and Wood.

that's the problem, I don't thing LW can protect his blind side without holding, and you can't just run to one side

  8. Jeah that comment surprised me as well, it may be a case of managing expectations. When I talked to him during the Superbowl party back here in the Netherlands he had a similar answer when I asked him if he would be allowed to compete for second string this year. I disregarded his comment back then as him knowing the Bills were going to sign a veteran but it still surprised me. The way he said it though made me feel he was protecting his own feelings. Hamdan has been through very rough times, including 2 severe injuries (broken collarbone and broken ankle) and a bunkruptucy as a result of his cut from the Redskins. It may be a case of him being comfortable of making the team better from the bottom up (Johnson, Jenkins, Stupar) and being happy he's still in the NFL. Would love to talk to him about it.

actually, I was watching walker very closely, and I really like the guy. But the holding he was doing in pass protection would never fly in a regular season game, and they couldn't run to that side of the line

  9. Ah, a topic that is dear to my heart. There is one thing much more annoying than the fan that stands up throughout the game -- the fan that is constantly yelling for that fan to sit down. Please, focus that energy on cheering on the Bills. I'm sure on the field, it all sounds the same. But from my seat, "D-FENSE" and "sit down" just don't mesh. I swear, some people go to the game just to yell at those people because they're having too much fun!

It can be annoying when someone stands up for the entire game, but from 99% of my observations, and in my section, most fans are standing when the Bills are on defense, or they are celebrating a nice offensive play. It feels funny to sit and cheer. <yay, team... okay, now let's sit still.> You just can't get enough into it. Unless, of course, you're sitting and yelling for someone in front of you to sit down. Then of course, you have more annoying exuberance and energy than a crying baby.

i like it when they start hurling beers at the idiots that stand up the whole game

  10. This season I really hope the Bills try to get Roscoe more touches. Just think if they had him, Evans, TO, and Lynch on the field at the same time....there's a possibilty for a big play every play.

Unfortunately, the staff seems to thinks Reed brings more to the table than Roscoe. Parrish brings the possiblity of an uncoverable slot reciever...ala AzHakim when he was with the Rams, Dantel Hall with the Chiefs, and Wes Welker with the Patriots.

I think by DJ sticking with Reed as the slot reciever, it reflects his conservative attitude again. Just a couple of years ago, it seemed as if Reed had the dropsies, and everyone wanted him gone. Now he's an average player at best.....so put Roscoe in and let's see what he can do.

roscoe is a great punt returner who sucks at eveything else. he can't get separation at the line, and he dances around to much with the ball

  11. Poz is the man. Should be a pro bowl player this year with his potential and work ethic. Eventually he will catch some of those int's he drops.

i don't think anyone on the board has criticized poz more than me. but I have to say I was totally impressed with him last night, finally looked like a penn state linebacker, and i think he's going to have a great year
