That is just horsesh*t, sorry.
no it's not, the nfl was established long before ralph got there, and the afl merger would have happened either way. he got lucky and was in the right place at the right time. and he still manages to screw it up

Couple of corrections to make
SABAN was NEVER FIRED BY THE BILLS! Every Bills fan knows he quit on his own both times
Also, Butler refused to negotiate a new contract with Ralph and there was speculation at the time that he had already talked to the Chargers while under contract to the Bills.
As far as why he was inducted into the HOF, apparently you slept through the inductions...because the NFL wouldn't be the top sports league in the world were it not for Ralph's contributions, many of which were brought up when he was inducted.
the NFL would have been just fine without Ralph

So did Knox

Saban and Butler both quit because Ralph was a jerk

Does anyone out there feel that the coaches may not be stretching the field in the preseason intentionally, as to not show their hand?
yeah, that's what they are doing in the preseason and for 16 games last year
-
Sucker fans? More like snookered fans. What choice do Bills fans have? Boycott the team in protest? Yeah, that'll hurry up change.......the Bills' address, that is. As things are, the only real choice Bills fans have is to accept what we have for as long as we have it....however long that turns out to be.
Dammit.
the part of the article I felt was the most important is how each team gets 125 million from the tv contract. it covers then entire players payroll, and ralph gets to keep all the money from ticket sales in the free stadium that he plays in

Hmmm, odd ,against lesser Defenses seemed like TE looked fine when his O-line wasn't crashing and burning around him.
TE looked like pathetic last night, but so did the O-line and the whole Offense for that matter. The Steelers WR made plays, sometime in double coverage our WR's got pushed around like kids the way they always do and the same with our dumb arss TE ,Shouman who has no reason based on his performance to be holding his position over a player like Jonathan Stupar.
in case you missed last nights game, the o line gave trent plenty of protection
-
We'll see how Cutler does without Shanahan, Marshall, Royal, Scheffler, that O-line, and that running game. He'll be lucky to approach his 2007 season stats.
he'll do just fine, definitely better than edwards
-
You're right of course, but I thought this BEFORE the the preseason, back when Cutler was available. And while there are guys better , most aren't good enough to lead a team to a Super Bowl (I believe Cutler is/will be), and I feel that it is another strike against the front office for not going after Cutler. They had an opportunity to improve this team, but passed on it.
i remember all the posters on this board saying we don't need cutler, edwards is better. LFMAO!!!

And if the Bills let Schobel or Evans go, what would you be saying then? And we'll see just how much of a slug Peters becomes, now that he's gotten his payday.
and peters will do just fine, probably even see the playoffs this year and make even more money
-

evans is worth keeping, schoebel could be replaced with any de cut from any other team. the money could than be used to sign a good football player. watch what belichek does in these situations, the players that suck, get cut
-
I'm convinced that the " x is better than TE " argument needs to be put to rest. There are roughly 30-40 QBs in the NFL that share that claim.
-
They could have traded for Culter. He is way better than TE, and good enough to win a Super Bowl.
Cutler would have been a great pick, worth our number 11 easy. but the people on this board all panned the move and said he's overrated. so much for the football knowledge of this board, they'd rather keep schoebel
-
Well, that's your prerogative. We'll see how good of a trade this was for both teams. But for $10M/year, Peters will have to be damn good, annually, to justify his contract.
schoebel makes 8 mil a year, sucks at what he does, and that doesn't seem to matter, and everyone on the o line made more than peters last year, and that didn't matter. and lee evans is turning out to be a huge disappointment, but that doesn't matter. lets just keep letting our best players go, keep these slugs, and not go to playoffs again for the next ten years
-
Yeah, I wonder why that is?
Did you see either of them skipping OTAs, training camp, and preseason while demanding to renegotiate a contract that was redone just one season prior?
you're right, playing like overpaid second string defensive ends was definitely better
-
Hence the reason he has never been a captain.
actually, i think it would be a great cut, it's something belicheck does to let the other players know where they stand
-
That's pretty harsh- Schobel is an undersized guy who has lost a step- I would not agree that he is a loser, just not good enough to justify his salary, sports are cruel but you make big bucks that's the trade off.
i've been down on the guy for years, his sacks have always come at garbage time, and i've never felt he added any leadership or fire to the defense
-
I would like to see us keep schobel for another year. But kelsey can get the boot.
than tell schoebel to take a 75 percent pay cut or hit the bricks. the guy is a loser and brings a losing attitude to the defense
-
"Run out of town" makes it seem like we had an agenda. I mean, wanting a legitimate quarterback is definitely an agenda, but the way you phrased that sort of irked me.
maybe it's the fact that while you idiots were worried so much about the qb play, the rest of team turned to sh%%%
-
1) QB Matt baker
2) Rb Bruce Hall
3) Wr Justin Jenkins
4) Wr Cj Hawthorn
5) Te Derek Fine
6) Te Travis Mccall
7) Tackle Chris Denman
8) Ol Nick Hennessey
9) De Chris Kelsey
10)Dt Derrick Jones
11) Lb Pat Thomas
12) Lb Solomon Elimimian
13)Lb Ashlee Palmer
14)Fs Ko Simpson
15 Safty John Wendling
schoebel and kelsay, would save millions and could be replaced with a couple of de's cut by other teams
-
I don't see many here defending Kelsay and to a smaller extent, Schobel.
and i don't see anyone trying to run them out of town the way they did peters
-
Did I say that? Strange, but I have no recollection of saying anything like that...
Now I have to think back about what I said...
No, I could not possibly have said that - the thread's about Peters, isn't it?
ok sorry, my point is that everyone on this board was so eager to run peters out of town even though shoebel (and kelsay) are representative of what really wrong with this team. ie backup players making big salaries
-
has there ever been a first team offensive unit that hasn't scored a TD in preseason in the history of the NFL
-
Considering that FatBoy's been out with a 1st-day-of-camp injury for all of camp and preseason, save for a few plays where he sucked out loud, I'd say the trade's looking even better than it did last week - particularly since now we know that (1) to pay that fat POS $11M/year would have been a total waste, and (2) now we know we're gonna need that money and that cap room for a decent QB next season.
and you're probably ok with paying schoebel 8 million a year even though he sucks,

good for al davis, but irrelevant for the nfl. would have happened either way
