  1. +130 on what line? 5.5? or 5? I use bodog and right now the line is still 5 (not 5.5) and it's -110 to bet the over, -120 to bet the under. Now that i'm looking at some of their lines they have some funky stuff. For instance the Falcons O/U is 9. To bet the over is -175 but to bet the under is +145. In that case why wouldn't they just move the line to 9.5 or 10 if it's that skewed?
  2. I got 5.5 and later got this bet at 5 (that way in case we go 5-11, I get my money back on the 2nd bet). I think it's a solid bet. The media is putting out all sorts of negative press on the bills so "the public" bets the under and people who are familiar with this team know that we aren't any worse than last year. To me, the over seems like a decent bet. For those more interested in long-shots. They're giving us 10-1 odds on making the playoffs and 25-1 odds to win our division. For those on crack, you can bet us at 150-1 to win the super bowl. But in any case, i think the over is a decent bet. Then again, i could just be a homer...
  3. Here is the link: http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/09/04/mining-story-lines-in-the-new-n-f-l-season/ Surprisingly there is actually a picture of Gailey chatting with Shannahan in the web-version of the article...
  4. Here is a quote from their article "New Trends, New Season" They haven't looked shiny and uselss to me this preseason but then again, I only got to see 2 of the 4 games. Oh well, keep the Haterade flowing and they'll never see us coming.
  5. Seems like a decent deal for San Diego... Thoughts?
  6. No actually, not really. But as I said in my post, the bar that I'll be watching the game at will have every game on a separate TV. From a pure cost perspective the $350 is not that competitive to me for a streaming service. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you won't be able to change the channel instantaneously if a great play happens in another game -- you'll jump to the game and then it'll have to buffer and then you'll get your game after some period of time. Seems like kind of a ripoff for a fan who only cares about one out-of-market team. I would think a more fair price would be ~$10/game or something along those lines. I wasn't suggesting it doesn't make sense for some others just not for me. The great match-ups are usually flexed to Sunday nights anyway so it's not like I won't be able to watch good football.
  7. A few random comments as I watch this game.. -I agree on the Maybin comment. He doesn't look too bad. -I like the way they were getting Roscoe more involved. Steve Johnson...saw him make one catch over the middle for a nice gain, but other than that, didn't see him getting involved enough. First time I'm seeing Nelson and he seems like a good player. BTW, I see the stat line says hardy has a catch... i assume that closer to the end? I'm on a bit of a delay on the DVR... -On that one play where Edwards was forced out of the pocket and nearly sacked by Dunlap but took a nasty hit.... There's no reason to take that hit... he needs to get rid of it sooner and not take the abuse on his body. JMO -Question -- when did the Cinci defense switch to 2nd stringers? Was Edwards last series in there against first-team defense?
  8. Over/Under on bodog is 5 (It was 5.5 earlier in the preseason, not sure why it went down...). Given we went 7-9 last year and seem to look better, I actually like the over...
  9. I thought about doing this but have decided against it. Here's my thinking (as a NYC TV market customer). I get 2 of the games automatically (Home/Away vs. Jets) so for me this is for 14 games. $350/14 = $25. $25/game is relatively steep to stare at my computer during game-time (sure, I can output to my TV, but who knows if this will actually be HD or if there will be studdering/streaming issues). If I do that, I also have to buy beer (because i can't watch the bills and not drink...it's just the way I operate). Lets assume I spend $10 every Sunday - so now it's up to $35/week. So, if I can spend less than $35 at the bar on beer (which also has more & better TVs than I do) I'm better off just walking to my local bar and watching it there. Since a lot of bars offer all-you-can drink from 1pm-4:15pm for ~$35....I'll probably pass. Now... perhaps my brother & i can split the cost and alternate weekends. Obviously can't have 2 different computers streaming at once from different IP addresses but sharing it might be the answer. Anyway, now i'm just rambling. Thx for posting this...
  10. Granted, the interview's main point about avoiding injuries is getting worse with every Bill that gets placed on IR. Anyway, pretty interesting statistics and research instead of knee-jerk stuff I read from football columnists. http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/23/a-football-outsider-answers-your-questions/
  11. So what's the line on maybin... The over-under @ 3? Would 3 make it an even-money bet? (exactly 3 for a push, 2.5 or less and 3.5 or more to win...)
  12. I don't think anyone was suggesting we trade for Coffee -- The dude is clearly a loser/crybaby/quiter or whatever you want to call him -- The idea is to get something of value from SF in return for a RB (be it Lynch/Jackson) since they don't really have a #2 and Gore is somewhat injury prone.
  13. Can you really call it "retiring" if you only worked (and i mean worked in the loosest sense of the word) for one year?
  14. Glenn Coffee, the SF 49ers 3rd draft pick last year, just "retired" apparently because he got yelled at for being run over by some SF defensive player. First of all -- That's just funny... Second of all, are they really going to enter the season with Michael Robinson as Frank Gore's only backup? We have a few running backs in our stable... Sorry to start another thread on trading away a running back, but... I'm just saying...might make some sense to see what they have on offer. EDIT: PFT Link: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...coffee-retires/
  15. Does he? I'm picturing Dave Chappelle telling the DA that he'd "...Plead the fiiiiiiifth...."
  16. Some awesome racaps of "The Decision" being posted out there... Here are my two favs so far: LeBron Watch, Day 50: What ESPN Should Have Asked LeBron James http://deadspin.com/5583298/lebron-watch-d...ed-lebron-james LeBron’s “Decision”? 17. The article is a regurgitation of conventional wisdom. He gets paid to do this... I've read much better analysis on TBD (then again, I've also read alot worse). Shame too, because I actually like Clayton, he usually has better insights than this drivel...
  18. Lets see how peter did with his 2009 list (you can view that HERE) #2 - Chicago - "Cutler's a big-time player, and I suspect we'll find out over the next few years if he has nerves of steel and can win the big game." ...Awesome... #6 - Philly - They limped into the playoffs.. #10 & 11 -- Tennessee and ATL -- Tenn started what 0-6? Atlanta was a middling 9-7 and I can't remember if they made the playoffs or not... #14 - Green Bay #15 - Minnesotta - One of the top 3 teams last year... (to be fair, I think this ranking was done when they had Tarvaris Jackson as QB) #24 - New Orleans - Won the Super Bowl #28 - Cincinatti - Made the playoffs
  19. I'm not sure I've ever seen a team carry 4 QBs on their roster during the regular season, so something has to give. We all have seen the threads about who should be the starter, what I want to know is, who are we going to drop -- I'm just trying to take the pulse of TBD at this point in the off-season. Who do we absolutely not need? I suppose it's possible they want to try to put Levi Brown on the practice squad, but I think someone might claim him -- I think he stays on the roster as a developmental project. The other 3, I'm not so sure... Cast your votes (I've never done a poll before, hopefully the options will show up correctly) Who will NOT be on the opening day roster: 1. Edwards 2. Brohm 3. Fitzpatrick 4. Levi Brown or curveball option #5. We won't keep 3 QBs, there will only be 2 QBs that make it (in which case, in your comments post which 2 get cut & why)
  20. Those guys do a great job... Wings, Salens, and don't forget about Labatt Blue & Molson Canadian drink specials... That place does get packed and if you're there on a Sunday in football season, you pretty much have to get there by 11am to get a seat. I also live in NJ now -- where do you guys gather? I live in Jersey City and we used to get a great group of guys at the York Street Tavern -- they would show all the games, not just the Bills. Now I just go to this place called "Captain Al's Harbor Casino" which also has all the games on, but it's less crowded and 2 blocks from where I live... I can't make it to this event because I'm outta town, but anyone who goes, post up some pictures!
  21. Just to be clear, that was copy/paste. If it were me, I would have used 1 (ok, maybe 2) exclamation point(s).
  22. Just thought I'd pass this along for any New York City Bills fans: I lifted this from their website: Buffalo Bills Backers Meet & Greet at McFadden's * Friday May 14th * 6pm-10pm * 1/2 price drinks * Meet & Greet: Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm, Andy Levitre, Nick Hennessey, Jon Stupar & Garrison Sanborn!!! Call: 212.986.1515 for reservations http://www.mcfaddens42.com/ Location: 800 2nd Avenue New York, NY 10017
  23. This is 100% true... I'm not sure how this conveniently gets left out of the debate time and again. Back on topic: I agree, get out there and play in the snow... BTW, does Brian Brohm play with a glove?! (<---joke)
  24. This guy is such a d-bag... MMQB Interview: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writ...rady/index.html The best though, are some of the comments on PFT: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...oach-belichick/ Scroll down to the comments by "30OctaveFart"... Hilarious.
