1st of all, I appreciate your entire response, even if I chose to quote only a part of it. I read all of it. Thank you. You may feel like I misrepresented your statement, but I was simply replying to the implication that a non-partial moderator would act on situations differently. I don't think that is the case and that was the crux of my response. Whether you are left/right, I think many people have a blind spot for their own side's hyperbole and ugliness. You may have taken offense at someone calling PPP a conservative hell hole, but I have heard countless people revel in that reputation. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You may feel that way and others may feel damn straight. Thanks again for taking the time. 👍

That's a fair question. I don't recall a heavy or even a balanced presence anywhere else. It's like 25 pieces of content everyday for 6.5 years. Open/closed/hybrid is a choice of the owner.

I think it is garbage. I told him that in the topic. Sincerely, do I ban people who make posts like that because if we go down that road, 75% of people are gone. Including me. Usually the only way that actually works is in a homogeneous environment.

1. But that moderation occurred in a football forum and it happened over and over again. 2. It is the sign of the times. Every platform is dealing with this. I would ask for patience on the accepted norm part. 👍

Do you think I could find something as offensive as that from someone else? If I looked up socialism/Russia/communism/etc... I wouldn't find hyperbole? Regardless, my point is - no one has been going through imposing their biases on others. I was hoping we could agree on that.
-
But let's be clear, no one's opinion was being suppressed. No biased moderators were acting on left/right biases. I hope that you would agree that is a fair statement. If it wasn't fair, the list of individual grievances would be a mile long.
-
The moderation here has almost been non-existent., so it certainly wasn't biased. DR had 55k posts in here. C'mon, man. I am not aware of a single person whose viewpoint was suppressed. I personally acted on member v. member events. Any other suggestion isn't true.

When I say "clubs" I am talking about the software feature we have. You may not be aware of it. I don't see many people maneuvering away unfortunately. A club has like 5 different options - open, closed, read only, invite only... something like that. It makes it unofficial which is nice. Obviously an admin can do anything, but there isn't even a report post function there. The club owner can appoint mods on their own.

I'm not sure what you are saying here. 🤷♂️

My opinion is this: 1. We have the best Bills forum anywhere. Always have. I hope that continues. Right/left/black/white/green are all welcome here. 2. I have my reservations about PPP and I am not able to fix political discourse. It has morphed into its own club. Usually when they happens, club members get annoyed with others. It always happens. It has happened before and it will happen again. That's the life cycle of social groups. However, given the evolution as a group to being more clubby than open, I think moving it to a self-contained club makes total sense. It relieves a lot of pain points. I think it gives everyone what they want. Threading that needle, in an open forum, is difficult.

This has been said erroneously before. I routinely dump posts from the stadium wall into the archive. I’m not sure I have done that here in 10 years or more if ever. There is something like 8 million posts in our database. 800,000 are here of which of the majority are from a smaller group.
-
One can be hopeful, but I don’t think so.
-
It can be done but it is a hassle. The state of political discourse isn’t going to be solved by me or any Bills community.
-
Ironically, they could have created their own closed club. 🤷🏼♂️ I hadn’t brought it up in public, but I had suggested it to others to see what they think.
-
no one is going to talk with anyone who drops Hitler references.
-
I don't think so, club mods and club owners have complete control over a forum. They just can't affect a member's standing in the community as a whole. Obviously, the key here is that an integrated politics club is very difficult. Members have to show they are committed to discussion. Nah. I'd like to keep this on-topic. Thanks.
-
sounds reasonable. lol
-
No. They can lock, move, merge, delete. Club owners can move members in/out depending on the club style.
-
you ask a lot of questions. lol I'll check.
-
clubs have their own moderators. It's moving the ownership closer to the source. To me that should be a positive thing.
-
Would it make a difference?

As I have mentioned before, as a Buffalo Bills community, PPP isn't really a main focus, but had remained over the years as other subforms were phased out. I have been thinking for a few years (or sometime after the clubs were a part of the software) that this place would be better served as club than a subforum. I'm shocked it didn't occur organically to be honest. A club owner can name their own moderators and choose an open/closed club. This also moves the forum further away from Bills moderators, which is desirable. None of us really want to be involved in this. I'm open to your thoughts.

I think this silly thread has taken it’s course. If you have future complaints about WGR and their personalities, please email the program director. We are not the complaint department for the radio talent.
