DELLAPELLE JOHN
go to 1:00 and see for yourself, this guy may not be big but man as a 3rd dowm pass rusher off the edge he is just what we need!!!!!!
kota
He is fast but he better have more than that in the NFL. He is going to need some power.
DELLAPELLE JOHN
dude he has dwight freeney type explosion off the snap and that was on grass... trust me all we need is his speed and explosion and he will be fine he s already plenty strong
Dwight Drane
His lateral movement is eh. I think the pick was a mistake, but there is no denying his explosiveness. Even if he turns into a 3rd down specialist, he can't hurt at this point.

Even if he turns into a 3rd down specialist, he can't hurt at this point. He has an explosive first step and he is only 21. I think he should at least be able to step on the field in a bills uniform until you pass judgment. If anything, you have to love his haircut, showing some buffalo pride in his press conference on nfl.com

Before the draft, Many of us said this would be a mistake taking a guy that for one-year made Temple, Coastal Carolina, Syracuse and the Big 10 look bad (der)... AND made USC look like the New England Patriots offense. We shall see.

Thoner7
He sure looks quick there. Honestly though I am worried about the 30-40 extra pounds he will have to carry to play in the NFL. Very few humans could retain that quickness when they need to add that kind of weight. As he hasnt played any football yet at his combine weight of 250, the only thing we can really look at is his 40 time from the combine to see how he carries it. his 10 yard split was one of the fastest, but his 4.88 40 is not a good showing. That kind of burst should translate to a fast time. I fear he lost his burst once he bulked up. In college Maybins game was built solely on his quickness, without it I believe he is SOL. Here is to hoping he can carry the weight... PS Isn't it funny how once we FINALLY decide to draft a defensive lineman, he is the size of a DB? Dickie strikes again. Whites Bay
Think about it, though. If that one-trick-pony kid can knock down a quarterback a mere three times in the first 8 games, the ESPNs of this world are going to tout him as the next...well, Bruce Smith, I suppose. That's a pace of 6 sacks in his rookie year. He'd be carried out of the stadium on a chariot. I guess the question we should be asking ourselves is "What is the quality of the starting left tackle of the opposing team" for 2009? (Or, maybe right tackle. Who knows where he's going to line up). I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but noodle through it. Say an offense has 2 1/2 possessions per quarter, or 10 per game. In each of those possessions, they find themselves in a 3rd-and-long situation three times per drive. That's 30 times per game, and in 8 games that's 240 pass rushing attempts. And we fans would annoint him demigod if he crushed the quarterback into the ground a mere three times, or a success rate of 1.25%. Debate the probabilities. The success rate only changes a few percentage points. Not a bad living for $25 million. We should all have that first step.
scoring is not hardy
94 Schobel, Aaron DE 6-4 243 58 Maybin, Aaron DE 6-4 250 I don't think the size argument holds any merit. If the kid can play, then he can play. period.
DELLAPELLE JOHN
if u take away demarcus ware's first step he also wouldnt be that good. duh, of course. all de's that are good or great at putting pressure on the qb are quick. also maybin ran a 4.58 at 251lbs on his pro day, faster that demarcus ware. imo he is very similar to john abraham/dwight freeney and even derrick thomas who was also all speed and quickness and no power...
