Let's Pretend Today is Draft Day

Why do the 40 yard dash then? Just for fun? Or is it to be used as a tool for measuring speed, when other factors (college production, shuttle drill, cone drills, etc.) are taken into consideration? My relief that you are not the GM is trumped only by my relief that you are not a scout.

You said the 40 is irrelevant for DE's. You can have the ones that don't do well in it then. I'll take the Freeneys and Orakpos of the world.

And before you even start, I would have taken Suggs anyway. He was a monster in college. People who only consider the 40 are stupid. People who think it's irrelevant are even worse.

You can have fun with your 40 yard dash for defensive lineman. I'm sure you loved Erik Flowers, Mike Mamula, Vernon Gholston, Jarvis Moss, Tamba Hali, Erasmus James, Kenechi Udeze, Jerome McDougle, Jamal Reynolds and Dimitrius Underwood.

When you realize there is more to rushing the passer than the 40 yard dash, you'll have a better clue as to how to rate good football players. Go be a Raiders fan if you want fast 40 times. It worked out for Al Davis.

I draft Bobby Bouche - Southwest Central Luosiana State, and trade my second round pick for Shane Flaco. Bouche can play OLB and really should fix our pass rush, and Shane is a championship winning QB who always wants teh ball when the game is on the line.

How fat are your fingers?

Shane Falco never won a championship...those bastards reinstated Eddie Martel as the quarterback before he ever got the chance. :P

Great point. Way to ignore what I said about "take it into consideration with other factors," rather than "it's completely irrelevant." What a naif...

If Raji or Curry aren't there (which they won't be), I trade down if I get an offer and grab Jerry, Cushing or Jackson. If I don't get a trade offer, I grab Pettigrew. People are saying the tight end depth is good in this draft, but I don't see it. After the top three, I see a whole bunch of Derek Fines and Brad Cottams. The Bills need a playmaker there.

Very perceptive ...Pettigrew is the only playmaker at TE who has both blocking and receiving skillsets.

Ok. Next time you see the DE run 40 yards around the OT to sack the QB you let me know.

That's like saying "next time you see a DE lift 225 lbs. off his chest before sacking the QB let me know." You don't, but you still have him do the bench. Or when was the last time a DE ran 5 yards up, 5 yards back, 5 yards right, 5 yards back, and 5 yards up again before sacking the QB?? Or do you want to ignore the shuttle drill too?? They're all measurements to be taken into consideration. I love how people who have never played football play Madden and suddenly think they're GM's.

Uh.. how about when he's bull rushing? Extending his arms to push a lineman? Every single play?

Or when was the last time a DE ran 5 yards up, 5 yards back, 5 yards right, 5 yards back, and 5 yards up again before sacking the QB??

That would be called a coverage sack.

 Got any more brain busters?

I love how you think you know anything about my background, or where you got that I think I'm a GM.

But by all means, keep going on looking like a jackass, its comical :P

My day would begin with the tradedown that will result when the Eagles realize they can CHOOSE their RB, TE, or WR in Round 1 with a trade up to #11.

The Bills give their 4th Rounder in the deal, getting the #21 and #28 picks.

1-Brandon Pettigrew TE----the blocking receiver that Royal wasn't.

1-Peria Jerry DT-----Watch how Stroud-Jerry in the middle makes Schobel and Ayers look good.

2-Robert Ayers DE---Anyone see him at Tennessee?

3-Kraig Urbik OG----The best run blocker in the draft

5-Courtney Greene SS----Rutgers. Free Safety will be Donte.

6-Gartrell Johnson RB-----Big Back with a heavy hammer.

7-Graham Harrell QB------Nice competition at #3.

I like the idea of the top 3 picks, but we seriously need to add at least 2 quality interior offensive lineman.

We have absolutely no LG, and we don't have anyone to backup if our C, RG or LG gets injured. No youth in there. We are so dry there its ridiculous. If it were up to me, I'd sign a veteran guard and draft two more on the interior.

I don't view Jason Whittle as a capable backup that can start in our division if needed. I also don't think Chambers at guard is a good enough option.

Lets face it, the only way to stop Lee Evans, Terrell Owens, Reed, Roscoe, Marshawn and Fred is to get to Trent before he can throw, and we've got a large hole right up the middle of our line.

The last move you made was to acquire Terrell Owens... No other moves have been made...

What do you do if you are GM and today is draft day...???

How do you fix the starting LOG position, Need for a pass catching TE, need for a pass rusher and need for a quality Line backer?

How smart are You ?

To me, I would look at the pass rush first, but out of those 4 positions that you listed, whoever is rated the highest out of those 4 positions that you listed is who I would take as our pick at #11.

As much as I would love this, do you really see Ayers making it out of the first round?

I do.

Most teams are running the 3-4 these days, and there isn't much call for a 4-3 DE who had 3 sacks and ran a 4.8 40.

Well, maybe your right.

But you yourself said that the 40 time isn't that important, and if you believe your right, then you gotta believe that other knowledgable GM's will be thinking the same.

Btw, did you see him at the senior Bowl? He blew everyone up. 3 sacks alone in that game.

Mayock, who has been very accurate with his calls has him rated as the #1 DE.

I don't see him getting out of the 1st round, but I hope your right, I'd sure love to have him

I fire whoever is in charge of not filling needs before the draft with mid level free agents so I can have options in the draft (if that person is me in the bills system I fire myself and give my self a kick@ss severence package)

But see....if I was GM that would not happen because i would never allow myself to go into the draft would so many needs not addressed:

I sign one of the two OLB's that are still available that have played in a cover 2 system. I really dont want to take a LB in the first round unless it is Curry.

I sign either Mike Goff or Kendall Simmons so we can keep Hangarter at center. I still plan to take a center high in the draft but want to make sure I have a veteran offensive line in place so there can be competition in camp.

I sign Kalimba Edwards as a pass rushing specialist JUST IN CASE my first player that I want to choose (which woudl be Everett Brown) is gone. This will allow me to take a DE in the second round or in a trade down but not rely on him to have a immediate impact. if they do then I can cut Kelsay in camp.

In the draft I take Everett Brown in the first, best TE prospect in the second, best center available in the third, and from the 4th round on I pick players based off of ability but can also play special teams.

John, you are hired!! The private jet is on the way.
