Kerry Collins passes Jim Kelly?

By Chris Brown - Posted October 20th, 2008

This figure shows you how much stats are worth sometimes. On Sunday, Kerry Collins threw for 123 yards in a Tennessee rout over Kansas City where the running game carried the day for the Titans. But Collins passed Bills Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly to move in 14th place for career passing yardage.

Kerry Collins? Ugh.

Add in JK's years in the WFL and collins wouldn't be close .

Kelly played in the USFL, but we know what you meant

Also, Kelly could have thrown for much more yardage, but he was a team player and KNEW that we needed to be a run first team here to be successful late in the season. He called a very balanced attack. If he threw as much as Marino or Elway (espescially since he lost 3 years of his prime to the USFL), he'd have similar passing #'s to them.

How many yards would Kelly have added in that '83-'85 run? Ferguson might have started through '83 regardless, so maybe a bonus 6,000 yards?

That would certainly be more than Collins will likely pick up between now and the end of his career in January (or even 2009), and enough to hurtle Jimbo past Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and several others and thus into 10th place all-time (and possibly into the top 5 at the point he retired).

Good point with Fergie...I think 6K-7K extra yards is a decent number.
