EARLY NUMBERS ON McGAHEE DEAL

Though the deal is not yet final, we're told that the contract will most likely include a three-tiered signing bonus worth $15 million.

Under those terms, he would get $7.5 million to sign, an initial option bonus of $6 million, and a second option bonus of $1.5 million.

Stay tuned.

Updated report from PFT on the McGahee contract:

McGAHEE DEAL: SEVEN YEARS, $40.12 MILLION

We're told that the Ravens and running back Willis McGahee are very close to agreeing on a seven-year deal worth $40.12 million.

As we previously explained, McGahee will receive $7.5 million to sign, an initial option bonus of $6 million, and a second option bonus of $1.5 million. The salaries are $595,000 in 2007, $605,000 in 2008, $620,000 in 2009, $3.6 million in 2010, $6.0 million in 2011, $6.5 million in 2012, and $7.2 million in 2013.

Since McGahee was due to earn $2.155 million in 2007, the deal is essentially a six-year extension worth $37.965 million.

If the Ravens cut McGahee before the back-end salaries kick in, he will earn a total of $20.42 million over four years.

Well, if Willis magically turns back into the college specimen and tears up the field in the next few years, then the ravens will certainly have gotten a good deal financially, as it will look pretty sweet in a couple years when decent RB's are getting paid at least twice this deal (if this deal is for real)

looks like a 3 year 9 million deal to me....with a majority up front

No way the Bills were ever going to pony up that kind of guranteed jack based on his previous performances, on and off the field.

I am sure his Baby-Mommas are ecstatic!!

It's more than that. He gets 8 Million this year, and 6.6 Million next year. The third year is $2.1 Million. That's almost 17 Million over three years. The interesting thing is whether the option bonuses are team options. If that's true, they could cut him after the first year and except for eating the most of the first year bonus on their cap next year, they wouldn't owe him any more money. So it's an $8 Million bet!

By then, it'll be about time for him to want to re-negotiate his deal.
